#2569262 2/7 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Coyotes 1

Screw the empty netter, I want to see Mrazek score one ON Smith. I'm still pissed about his dive negating a goal, the getting the empty netter against us.

He was effin stoked after that save.
As much as I'm looking forward to getting jimmy back, I'm gonna miss baby goalie.
Shhhhhhhhhhh.
Don't even xym.

Not me, it was Nash. ;)

Good save.

Count how many times he says "are you kidding me" or their main commentator says "to the front".

He says both very, very, very much. ;)

Neither, I'm a meatatarian. I just don't like the texture of broccoli for some reason.

Jimmy, Robert Englund was in a sci-fi miniseries called V, which had a sequel then a short-lived regular tv series. He played a friendly alien from a race that had sinister plans. It was great FX for its time.

Sausage: link or patty?

Freddy. Robert Englund actually had some depth in the character. Jason, after the first film, did nothing for me.

Clint Eastwood or John Wayne?

Gary Thorne and Bill Clement were an enjoyable broadcasting duo.

Great game for Petr, very proud of him tonight.

And Waah, thank you for the le idiot strategy of pulling your goalie against the RED WINGS.  Seriously.  Thank you!   LOL~

I can see the temptation to pull the goalie early, but tonight it was a coaching equivalent of the statue of liberty in 2002.

Whoa!!!!!  Roenick giving the Wings props.  Says they are now one of the top teams ... up there with Tampa.  Is this real life?

Is this just fantasy?

Congrats to Petr Mrazek for his third career shutout. Great way to start the dads trip. Extremely civilized.

Helm! Fitting after the abuse he took from Varlamov before the commercial break. Wheelz are on the bus. Get another one.

Thanks for the info. As for Roenick, he is Edzo lite in terms of being a douchey announcer.

Some good pressure that last sequence. Keep the skate on their throat, don't let them up.

Just got in due to an imbecile driving a huge rig for the gas fracking out here somehow blowing his transmission while making a right turn into their pipe yard and completely blocking route 29 (a two lane highway here in rural northeast PA) and we sat in traffic for over a half hour before they came up to tell the cars what had happened and the road was completely blocked. Nothing like driving on dirt roads that weren't fully plowed in a Ford C-Max with not the highest ground clearance.... At least rehearsal went well and my wife has decided to sing this season.

What is the short recap? I know Abdelkader hit the bingo, bango, bunghole on the PP, and saw the delay of game penalty. Thanks in advance.

Are the wheels on the bus? (Or tank). Did they light a mup? (Sorry, couldn't help that one). :)

#2568558 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by TheXym on 05 February 2015 - 04:23 PM

Very true, you almost need to lose in the playoffs to learn how to win. Think back to how the Devils crushed the Wings in 1995 (I had tix for game 5 if it had happened), but that set the table in some ways for the 97 and 98 wins. I remember the victory lap with the Campbell trophy for winning the conference because it had been such a long drought. Even though on paper, the Wings should have won the Finals, that belied that mentally they weren't quite there yet, and the Scott Stevens destroying of Kozlov became a metaphor for the series.

The adding of Shanahan and the experience from '95 were key to the subsequent success. 2002 was a cup that should have been a no brainier, but if not for Lidstrom's long range score on Cloutier, they could have been gone in the first. So many things have to go right in a playoff run to get the cup. Cujo played great in goal for the Wings when he was here, but the boys gave him no run support, and Cujo was unfairly blamed for early exits by many.

Last year's stretch run to the playoffs was a step for the younger players, but they didn't know how to get it done in the post season, and Boston was a good team. That experience paid off this year - Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan are all playing at the high end of expectations for them, if not exceeding them. If our boys stay healthy, they have a chance in a seven game series against any team in the league his year. They may not be favorites, but I don't think they will get blown out by anyone if they are healthy.

TheXym, I'm not sure if you're serious or if it was a joke or what but... I'm pretty sure it's "light 'em up"... not "light a mup"... If it was an inside joke, my apologies...

It was completely a joke, brother. The Fail Out Boy was the hint. ;). I'm sick of the song from NHL15 and a coworker singing it incessantly over the summer while I was helping him build a solar pavilion. One night my wife and I were out and had a couple adult beverages and the song came on, and she asked me "What the f*** is a mup, and why would you light it?" I thought it was funny, anyway.

Looking forward to this, it's been too long. I will likely miss the first part of the game due to a rehearsal, so any and all detailed recap of the play will be appreciated.

Hopefully they can light a mup (no idea what that means, or why Fail Out Boy sings about it, but I think it involves the Wings scoring several goals more than their opponents).

Sweet GDT graphic, BTW!
