#2312527 Wings may trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 02 July 2012 - 05:44 AM

All indications are pointing to Parise going to Pittsburgh or Philly. The Red Wings will then sign Ryan Suter and trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash.

However, there is a possibility the Wings could get Parise, Suter and Nash. Parise and Nash are both left wing. The Wings are thin at left wing.

Eklund go back to your own site.

Too bad the neg button doesn't exist anymore.

It's cute to see the Red Wings fans getting all excited about this toy tantrum Bertuzzi threw.

I mean that's really all you have to smile about seeing as you're down 2-1, very possibly 3-1 after tomorrow night before heading back to "CAPITOL OF HICKVILLE" ... lol Capitol...and we're uneducated?

Continue being immature like your players and enjoy the off season :D

Too bad Ericsson doesn't have any family in California.

#2234941 Jimmy Howard eyes spot in NHL All-Star game

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 11 December 2011 - 08:36 PM

Hahaha, this is awesome. Red Wings fans are so dedicated to winning (just like the team itself) that they want to play the strategic move and pull their players from the ASG to rest. I love this place.

Pretty sad isn't it? As if so many players perenially get injured in the ASG.

How are our superstars any more precious than other teams, who routinely send their best players if they're healthy?

I agree the game has many flaws, but it's still special to these players and to the fans who want to see the event or attend it.

I'll probably get 'negged for this, but I feel bad for the guy. Doesn't get recognized by the NHL as an all-star caliber goalie and then he has his own fanbase deciding that he needs to rest rather than be an all-star. While I agree that he could use the rest, I think he's still young enough to be given an opportunity to enjoy himself at an all-star event and not effect his game in a negative way. Based on that link above, he seems pretty excited at the opportunity and his friends (I will go ahead and assume family too) sound just as excited as he is. Yet here we are, from the couches in our living room, deciding that he needs to rest rather than having an opportunity at a fun weekend  .

I voted for him.

It should be Stuart or Ericsson out, not Kindl.

#2203331 Quick question.

I disagree, although I can see where you're coming from.

Firstly, I don't think the Wings are any one individual's team, and likely haven't been since Stevie left. Even before he retired, an argument could've been made that it was the entire lockerroom's team, as I'm sure Draper and others were just as instrumental in maintaining team focus. That's one of the great things about this team over the past decade plus -- the team first mentality that brought success. In fact, I seem to recall a story about the team being down heading into the third period and every member of the team having to step up and stare both Yzerman and Chelios in the eye for near a minute before heading back out onto the ice.

Secondly, I think that Datsyuk is the player everyone else looks to in the clutch to step things up. He's the guy who will get you that amazing play to save the game. However, I believe (and this is from a spectator's perspective only) that the person they'd look to bring order from chaos when a series is on the line is still Lidstrom. There is a big difference between being the best and most talented game breaker on the ice and being the leader that everyone looks to for emotional direction. Lidstrom is the emotional bedrock of this team, and Datsyuk is looked upon to be the guy who takes that leadership first (again, IMO).

This, in a nutshell, is why I see Z taking the mantle as a done deal once Lidstrom retires. Not because Datsyuk's english is suspect, not because Z is the better player...but because when the chips are down he seems more the type to be able to tell everyone in the room what needs to happen in order to pull out a victory (and to back it up with his play). Datsyuk's a supreme talent, no question, and by all accounts a great dressing room presence...but talent doesn't necessarily translate to managing a room.

EDIT: I guess what I'm trying to say is that they all look to Datsyuk to save them in a pinch, because he can. They all look to Lidstrom (and soon Z) to ask "what do we need to do?"

Oh contraire mon frere. Anyways, good for some Vacouverites to at least score that night.

It's kinda sad that Vancouver fans scored more on the streets than their team did on the ice.

#2178647 Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Posted by Nightfall on 23 May 2011 - 06:18 PM

Keep in mind that Rafalski was 12th in the league in scoring and played only 63 games. Look at his place at the end of the season in total points over the last 5 seasons.

10-11 - 12th
09-10 - 21st
08-09 - 5th
07-08 - 7th
06-07 - 12th

People can knock is defensive game, but he is a point producing machine. I see the same upswing from Brendan Smith as he has the same skillset just in a bigger body.

On a sidenote, I am pretty disgusted with some of the comments here. The "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" comments in specific. He helped bring a Stanley Cup to Detroit. He took a hometown discount to come play here. A little respect would be in order.
