#2550897 Nestrasil Waived / Claimed by Hurricanes

Posted by puckbags on 21 November 2014 - 11:48 PM

Which is hilarious considering no one thought Nestrasil would ever be a Red Wing during the 2013-14 season. All of the sudden he plays 13 games and suddenly we've lost a great prospect. gimme a break.

It's like when we lost Matthias everyone was up in arms, turns out he's a 3rd line checking forward

We have one circus clown every night on D, tonight was Big E's turn.

This is the problem without being able to score, completely outplayed these guys for 40 minutes and we make one mistake and now its a game.   I did this no scoring speech the other night and we sniped 3 goals in 7 minutes.  Hope it works again lol

#2519166 Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Posted by puckbags on 04 May 2014 - 11:59 AM

Hossa was offered a contract with the thought that Holland was also going to pay Hudler $3.75M. So that is why Hossa didn't accept Hollands lowball offer to him. So Franzeb's $3.9M and the $3.75M he had set aside for Hudler was more than enough to keep Hossa here. Which as we seen with Hudler and now with Franzen, we would have been better off with Hossa.

Why would we have better off with Hossa? Is it because of your blinded man love for him or brutal hatred for Franzen?  In the 5 seasons since Hossa went to Chicago he has scored 125 goals in 315 games , .39 goals/ game average @ 5.275 million a year.  In the same amount of time Franzen has 97 goals in 275 games, .35 goals per game average @ 3.9 million per year.  1.8 million per year difference for .04 more goals per game.  If I'm doing the math correctly it seems that on cold hard facts alone we are actually getting a bargain with the Mule over Hossa.  With that being said I hope we can trade Franzen, I still think the Canucks are a good trade partner for us.  They can stick Franzen with the Sedin sisters and I would be glad to see some kind of deal that involved Kesler coming back this way.

#2517288 Was Legwand worth it?

Posted by puckbags on 26 April 2014 - 05:53 PM

we are not gonna miss Jarnkrok. Besides, Holland makes 0 moves and we miss the playoffs, then he is a buster.

if others would have stepped up this round, rather than just rely on Hank and Pav, we'd still be in it and the trade would have been even more genius. (as I point the finger at yet a 5th year in a row that Franzen was so horrible, the polar ice caps lost about 6ft of height...) He got his contract and decided he doesn't need to play, he should be taken out back and castrated! God forbid he spawns another heartless piece if s*** into this world!

Babcock needs to be fired...he has mis-managed this team for a few years now. He thinks he is Gods gift to coaching, but he is not anywhere near so...bring in Larionov and watch us soar!

I don't drink your Franzen hater kool aid usually but he was hot garbage. Just a waste of space to be honest.  If he made anymore than the 3.9 he makes it would hurt even worse but that contract isn't that bad.  Can we buy Weiss out? if so we don't have any other bad contracts...Bert, Cleary, Sammy, Alfie, Quincey off the books should give us a lot of room to make some moves..and cmon let's be honest our young guys were terrific this year even though they were invisible in the playoffs.  Future is bright from where I sit.

I guess that would require a coach who actually shifts lines around vs just hoping things will magically change by themselves. :-) God, what is the mystery here? The genius of Bowman was his constant adapting. But Bowman was a chess player. Babcock plays checkers.

Clearly he's a total chump..he's never done anything in this league...oh wait he did get a squad of half ahl'ers to the playoffs.

I agree that most coaches would jump at the chance to coach for Detroit, but Holland is circling the drain.  The last 4 years have been a string of abysmal signings and free agent acquisitions.  He was handed the keys to the Cadillac with Yzerman, Lidstrom, and a host of other star players, and every year we've lost talent and replaced it with either imports / minor league players that don't live up to their billing or washed up free agents.  Ken Holland gets way too much credit for the Red Wings' success.  All of his "accomplishments" can be attributed to the talents and machinations of Mike Ilitch, Jim Devellano, Bryan Murray, Scotty Bowman, and Mike Babcock.

Was Holland supposed to decline the job because it was too good? I'll give you Bowman but Bryan Murray? c'mon . Sometimes the hardest jobs to do are when the expectations are as high as they are in Detroit.  We've won a cup with him as GM and never missed the playoffs.  If you don't like the guy that's fine but to strip the guy of any credit for anything he's done here is ignorant and well timed considering we just lost a game.

That’s a really stupid comment.

Consider the source it's pretty par for the course

Well they better figure out how in the hell to score on the PP.  This is ridiculous!

We are working hard enough to draw the penalties, just too bad our PP is non existent.

If we somehow get this battered team to the playoffs I can't see how Babs doesn't at least get a nomination for coach of the year.

#2491477 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by puckbags on 05 March 2014 - 11:04 PM

And another thing: What the eff is this "He was behind a lot of talent here" crap? He's a first-year Griffin, and a first-year NA pro. Since when do we hold that against a kid and tell him, "Well, you're not where the guys who are currently on our team are at, so I don't see this working out in the long run"? By the time he'd be making his fashionably late debut with the Wings (a la Tatar, Nyquist), Z and D would probably be just about done.

Holland hates kids, loves 35-year-olds.

So he finally sends Sammy down, pines Cleary and pretty much pines Bert for the last 20 games and you still think that the kids arent getting a chance...who else would you like him to sit that's over 30? Z? he's hurt  Datsyuk? he's hurt too  Kronwall? doubt it  Franzen? not right now  ...oh you want him to keep Jarnkrok and have Andersson and Glendening centering the first 2 lines because we think that some kid who has played half a season in North America is a can't miss according to the LGW scouting staff? You have to give something to get something, we were desperate..we have too many injuries...I said it before, it's not in the culture of this franchise to mail it in and miss the playoffs.

Could of signed him in the off season then ... Again I got nothing against david legwand I wanted him here before we got him ... Just don't like giving up jarnkrok .... Time will tell what happens

We don't need him the off season, we need him now WE HAVE NO CENTERS, they are hurt ( 3 weeks shut down ), hurt ( maybe for the season ) and well......hurt ( concussion like symptoms) Desperate times call for desperate measures..would you have prefered they sent Gus or Tatar, Picks, and prospects to Vancouver for Kesler?

#2491474 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Holland could play 2B for the Tigers hit 80 HR's and get 195 RBi's, Throw 73 Td's for Lions, Average a triple double per game for the Pistons, and GM the most successful franchise in hockey the last 20+ years and some of you would still hold something against him.  We need warm bodies down the middle....we have none..he got one..over paid? maybe but it had to be done.  This team won't settle for missing the playoffs..this isn't Vancouver.  This place is amazing...if he doesn't panic he's an idiot, if he does he's an idiot.  Who was the last prospect he traded away at the deadline that everyone got pissed about? Oh yea it was Matthias, the guy is a 10 goal scorer who just got traded again. I think our scouting, coaches and rest of staff wouldn't have traded Jarnkrok if they knew he was a can't miss blue chipper. Legwand waived his no trade clause to play here in a season where we might actually miss the playoffs which seems like a pretty fair sign that he wants to be in Detroit possibly for longer than 20 games.

Kyle Quincey is directly responsible for two of the goals against.

Scratch this idiot and put Lashoff in.

Yea I don't know what Lashoff has to do to be in the lineup..he's been solid all year..hardly ever hear his name which is a good sign for a stay at home d man.

2-1 goal is a killer. We were playing a decent road game until then. We need a full squad and top notch goaltending to compete with teams like this

Great 2 periods by the Wings, got hosed on the penalty call and a nice play by JVR on that goal.  Play like we have been in the 3rd and we win this game.
