I thought Kindl was way better last night..hopefully he can keep it up. As far as I know Smith has to be sent down because with E coming back we have too many guys and I would assume that Kindl and Ericsson would both have to pass through waivers to get sent down and then come back up. Smith to me is clearly the best out of the 3 and once there is no roster limits he will be back up for the playoffs. Having a wealth of healthy NHL ready d men come playoff time is a great thing to have even if you arent fans of all of them.
Hurler would the greatest player all time in a non contact ball hockey league at your local rec center. As soon as he gets brushed he goes down. Mma training my ass.
As much as I like Smith- - I REALLY do- - I will be thrilled to have the greatest Defenceman of all time back in the line-up tonight. If Nick declared himself a game-time decision saying he wanted to test it twice to be sure, then you have to assume he felt good on it this morning and just wants to make sure he gets the same result later tonight before the game. I think that leans more to him playing tonight then not playing. Here is to hoping #5 is back tonight and the Wings get rolling. GO WINGS!
I love Smith and I really don't think that he should be sitting but I think the big picture here is that Kindl and Ericcson need to get some games in before the playoffs start to get game ready. To have a 3rd pairing of Quincey - Smith/E/Kindl come playoff time isn't such a bad problem to have.
I could careless if they scored or not; 99% of Franzens shots miss the net by a country mile. "Franzen shoots! Wide high off the glass"
Same with Hudler, for every good pass he makes he commits 3 turnovers.
IMO, this is not a SLUMP. They just aren't lucky enough to be winning like they had been. We have been playing lackluster with flashes of brilliance for 2 seasons now.
Yea because 45-50 win seasons are clearly based on flashes of brilliance and luck..are you serious?
Obviously the most important injuries to this team are Dats and Lidstrom but to say they are the only injuries that matter is crazy. It's a domino affect. Franzen for instance has not only had to play with 1 new line mate but 2. Injuries change the line combos and the ice time that some of these guys are forced to play. White has looked terrible and should have a better ability to adjust to a new partner but it is difficult to go from playing with argurably the best d man ever to someone new. It is also so much harder to hide struggling guys in the lineup somewhere when you have injuries and they are forced to play. It's the dog days of the season, we are struggling but if you need a cheer up try channelling 07-08..it is a very similar feeling. Things turned out ok that year.
Great game. No Datsyuk, No Lidstrom, no Howard, no Bertuzzi, no Kindl, no problem. Well, it was closer than it would have been, but you get the point. Smith was great. If there's a silver lining on the injuries to Ericsson and Kindl, it's that he's gotten to show his stuff. And this is him as an NHL newbie.
