#2266864 Datsyuk's on the ice for today's practice

Posted by puckbags on 05 March 2012 - 01:28 PM

Remember in 2008 when the Wings won 1 game out of 11 due to a depleted lineup? In an 82 game season, every team has ups and downs. The Wings will rebound from this stretch without their star players.

They usually do, thats why the importance of picking up as many points as possible when you are healthy is huge.

The good news is Eddie O won't be anywhere near the commentary for our game.

My only comment about Smith so far is that this kid should never play another game in the AHL.

so,

no datsyuk
no lidstrom
macdonald starting

throw in the wings' play against terrible teams this year, and i'd say it's a 4-1 columbus victory tonight.

i do like the fraznen demotion. if only babcock had the balls to stick with it or actually bench him. the reality is that he'll be off the 3rd line in no time.

Good thing your useless predictions don't hold any weight around here or we would go 0-82.

You are right. I will lower my expectations from now on and be happy when they make the playoffs. Since I am 'not a fan' if I watch 82 games a year and then watch them get beat by their obvious weaknesses that they have had for years in the playoffs.

Who asked you to lower your expectations? It might be a good start to set out some realistic expectations though. I know this team has a shot to win every year, some years more then others but even my undersized brain knows it's not going to happen every year. For the first time in 20 years this team has to look ahead at the big picture with impending retirements and free agents leaving. Most teams arent good enough to plan for the future as well as make a run at the cup, its usually either one or the other. If I was a new fan to hockey and logged on this site today you would think we were in 11th in the conference and trying to make a run at the playoffs.

#2264372 trade idea for the summer

Posted by puckbags on 27 February 2012 - 11:47 PM

In essence, Smith will be replacing Stuart. Hard to tell at this point who is gonna be back next year. I'll throw something out there.

Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
Zetterberg-Filppula-Nyquist
Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves
Miller-Emmerton-Winchester
Tatar

Lidstrom-White
Kronwall-Quincey
Ericsson-Smith

With Commodore gone, we'll wanna get a cheap 7th defenseman capable of stepping in when needed. I'd be happy with any one of the following:

Jim Vandermeer
Sheldon Brookbank
Shane O'Brien
Matt Carkner
Bryan Allen

Im quite content with Holland not overpaying today, we have a legitimate chance at winning the cup this year but we have so much security/cap space for next year if Lids and Stuart move on I think it's set up really nice. That being said (not knocking your lineup) but if all that beautiful money that we have for next year gets spent on Winchester I will lose my 20 years of patience with Mr. Holland lol

2 options :

1. Continue to ***** about what we did or didnt do and cry like babies or..

2. Buckle up, be a good fan and support the squad we have and watch this team make another run at it !

so exactly what was your problem with my statement? i don't want holland to sit on this cap space when the team has obvious needs to address.

do you disagree with that?

or did you want to insult me again? i'd report those posts to a mod, but oh, what a surprise...you are one!

That was an insult? He called you a child, which by all previous posts and reference to yourself would be a pretty realistic accusation.

It's becoming quite glaring that without Pav this team needs some help up front. We are pretty pedestrian without him. It's like a really s***ty domino effect without him out there. Franzen and Bert are lost and Z clearly has not chemistry with them. Cleary has to play on the 2nd line where its obvious he should be on the 3rd with Helm and Miller so Abby can go down and center what would be a pretty good 4th line with Homer and whatever other guy out of Mursak, Emmerton or whoever wants to join them.

Posted by puckbags on 23 February 2012 - 10:45 PM

Franzen being on the ice with the net empty in a big game, brings back bad memories.

But he was on the ice because that line iced (supposedly) the puck.

Did you see him attempt to block the shot? lmfao..what a waste of time..just get out of the way if you don't want to block it. Him and Bert look so lost without Pav..Franzen especially. Franzen gets my total reprieve come playoff time if he scores like we know he can in the playoffs !

None of that happens if the linesman makes the right call. I'm done discussing this with you. I have nothing left to say on the matter and I'm not going to agree with your cuss laden responses.

Cuss laden? haha..the guy said s*** once.

Good hockey game, full credit to the Nucks, they played well..we responded. Good run ends at 23.

I wish you guys a good game, although I think we're going to beat the Red Wings.

As far as Canucks fans go, we respect your team the most so I'm kind of confused as to why Canucks fans are so hated in this thread.

I've never understood a statement like this, why wouldn't you expect you're team to win every night? It kinda goes without saying doesn't it.

Other obvious lines that don't need to be said out loud include :

"Winning the lottery would be awesome"

"Getting kicked in the balls by a steel toe boot would suck"

"I really hope Jessica Alba walks down my driveway naked tonight "

#2260550 NHL TRADING RULES

Posted by puckbags on 22 February 2012 - 09:30 AM

I love how people get offended for using CAPS, who gives a s*** if someone wants to type in big letters..they aren't actually yelling in your ear. REAL WORLD PROBLEMS CLEARLY !

#2260547 Alright, time to call Nyquist up

Posted by puckbags on 22 February 2012 - 09:14 AM

Realistically?

This.......

Franzen - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi
Filpulla - Zetterberg - Hudler
Abdlekader - Helm - Miller
Cleary - Pahlsson/Gaustad - Homer

is closer to what you’ll see.

Realistically? For it to be realistic don't the guys in bold have to actually be on the team?

Right.

11 goals, 27 points. one each less than Bert. plus Cleary plays on the PK. And tonight coming back after a knee injury.

He may not be having a career year, but he's hardly s***.

I don't get the hate either, clearly not his best season but he's still on pace for 15-20 goals, what were we expecting from him? I thought he showed some good strides a couple of times last night..lets be honest , no one was good last night except for Howard.
