#2305611 Cool Stevie Y story

Posted by puckbags on 06 June 2012 - 12:42 PM

Mitch Albom wrote this story on the morning of the Wing's cup clinching win in 1997. How incredibly spoiled have we been for the last 25 years to have 2 such amazing captains.

#2303845 Nick Lidstrom retires after 20 seasons

Posted by puckbags on 30 May 2012 - 03:04 PM

Plan on wearing my Lids Winter Classic jersey tomorrow and cross my fingers this isn't what it sounds like..

I guess we can hope that the reason for the presser is that he is announcing that this is his final season coming up..one can only hope but according the media he is hangin em up.

#2302579 What's the point of the crease?

Posted by puckbags on 22 May 2012 - 09:54 AM

I think the crease is there solely to keep Homer's ass directly from touching other goalies faces.

#2301364 Babcock and Holland want to keep Homer.

I don't think Gaustad's the second coming of Gretzky. No one does. I DO think he'd help.

"ZOMG he doesn't fight that much! (Only four fights last season! And he lost two of them!!!)"
"ZOMG 6'5 isn't big enough! (The Wings are already a very big and physically imposing team!!!)"
"ZOMG Nashville gave up a first-round pick for him and he was a pain in our collective ass and we gave up a first-rounder for Quincey and Quincey sucked so ZOMG they overpaid and we don't need to overpay for players!!!"

He's a free agent this summer. If he's asking for 4 million, then sure - pass on him. But if he can be had for less than 3? I'd say it's worth it.

Excuse my old ass ignorance but what the hell does ZOMG mean? Is that something Beiber says?

#2300561 Suter most likely out of Nashville

Posted by puckbags on 10 May 2012 - 03:28 PM

If Holland offer them both $7.5M per for 5+ yrs. That should be enough to entice both of them. But if they'd rather sign in Columbus for $9M, then let them... I don't doubt that if their respective clubs don't see a re-signing coming, their rights will be traded before they become UFA's...

That worked out good for Wiznoooooooooooski !!

#2298673 Predators bench Radulov and A. Kostitsyn for Game 3 of WCSF

Posted by puckbags on 02 May 2012 - 09:03 AM

Does anybody actually think NHL players stay in their hotel rooms and read the Bible every night on the road?

I agree, I like to have a beer or 10 after a day of work so why can't these guys..as long as they keep it classy I don't see what the big deal is. I've seen lots of players in the Roxy in Vancouver after a game...no biggie.

I don't want to defend Radulov because he's obviously a selfish tool but the shorter the leash you give these guys and the more you treat them like babies it seems the worse it almost makes it. When was the last time we had an issue like this? I can't even think of one.

#2298233 Is Rinne Getting Exposed?

Nashville looks flat and tired..almost seems like they treated us as their Stanley Cup.

#2297541 Detroit has inside track on Parise

I can't stress this enough: You HAVE to do your research before you make comments. If you want to talk about their prospects not panning out that's fine, but you should know that all those picks in the first round that never panned out were all drafted by the previous GM. Their current GM was the one that helped build the Anaheim stanley cup team and the Pittsburgh cup team. The draft picks HE has taken are all projected to come to the NHL next year, it's taken a few years for them to clean out all the s*** from the last regime and restock the shelves. And even though none of those prospects were pro this year, Minnesota probably would have made the playoffs had they been able to stay healthy. Look at them when they were healthy, they were winning like every game even without their touted prospects; and winning against the best teams. They beat us multiple times, they beat Nashville, New Jersey, Boston, Vancouver multiple times.. I'm not here to bash the wings' prospects or anything but as someone who follows the NHL closely, you're kidding yourself to think that Minnesota doesn't have one of the top 3-5 prospect pools in the league. And what the wings have is great, they have one guy who I think is top 6 for sure and then a couple other quality guys, but it's a far cry from what Minnesota has built, which only makes sense. Finally they get a competent GM and with all the high picks he's had, they are finally hitting on a lot of those. They of course have to prove themselves just like everyone else, but they are so deep with prospects that even if one or two are busts, they still have a bevy of other guys that will be home runs. Granlund alone is already scoring over a point per game as a youngster in a league full of men. It's just preposterous to compare Minnesota and Detroit in the area of prospects. Just as it would be to compare Mikko Koivu and Pavel Datsyuk. They are both good, but one is CLEARLY better than the other. With all that in mind, it's an absolute fallacy to be thinking that Parise and Suter with immediately sign with the Wings on July 1. Minnesota is not a team to be taken lightly in any sense.

I'd be interested in you explaining this statement.

Congrats to the Preds, hate them but they deserved it. Turning point of this series was the 60 minute mark of game 1. Have a good off season to the real Wings fans out there..this place is about to get ugly and all you loser bandwagon ****** nozzles can f*** off. See ya in July.

Time for the reverse mojo from me. Usually I'm super positive but not tonight. I hope we lose by 11 goals and it's Lidstroms last game. Bunch of losers..we need more grit..these euro figure skaters have never done anything..this franchise needs to rebuild..trade Dats, Z and anyone else that is good !!! Hope this works.

#2292043 WCQF Game Four GDT : Predators 3 at Red Wings 1

Posted by puckbags on 18 April 2012 - 08:02 AM

It's like Canucks fans blaming Luongo when they can't score a goal, Jimmy wasn't good but we have to find a way to put the puck in the net and score on the PP. I told a couple of friends before this series started that I felt we could play good hockey and control these guys and still be in trouble because of the Rinne factor..clearly this has happened. We have clearly out played these guys for the majority of the series but there are no pictures on the score sheet...just stats. Mentally they don't make any huge mistakes like we do and when they do Rinne makes a save and when we do we look like we did on the 2nd goal. It's a 7 game series for a reason..cue the cliches.

Big difference between mad, like I am, and quitting.

This place is very comparable to the Canucks message board I visited after they lost the other night..and the league says they are the worst fans in the league. This place is really sad, be mad yes but the series isnt even over..this is the same group of ****** bags who ragged this team after we went down 3-0 to the Sharks last year but then they were all super fans when we came back and tied the series 3-3, sad stuff. Kind of embarassed to be a Wings fan right now.

#2283464 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Posted by puckbags on 12 April 2012 - 11:48 AM

So because a guy isn't injured it makes it ok to slam his head into the boards? Wtf is wrong with this league, this is exactly the type of garbage they are trying to get out of this league. Lost a lot of respect for Shanny today.
