#2130721 3/16 GDT: Capitals 2 at Red Wings 3

Who sits? I'm hoping that Babs has the gull to scratch Mule and Bert. I'll give Modano another game or two just because of the long break he had.

As it is today at this point in time I wouldn't mind seeing Mule, Bert, Homer, or Miller sit.

Cmon, I don't care how bad you think Mule is playing but lets get one thing straight, THE MULE WILL NOT SIT IN THE PRESS BOX...EVER...30-40 goal scorers do not sit in a league where goal scoring is at a premium.

#2128899 Lessard ejected for clean hit

Posted by puckbags on 11 March 2011 - 03:06 PM

Things that were wrong with Lessard's hit:

It was charging in that he took multiple strides gearing up for the hit.

It was elbowing, as he led with his elbow and that was the initial contact point.

It was a head-shot in that he hit the player in the head as the principal point of contact.

Lessard should be happy if that game is the only one.

Go watch figure skating...it's not a charge, he didnt lead with his elbow and the guy was bent over how was he supposed to not hit him somewhere around head? Get your f***in head up. I don't defend goons who cant skate like Lessard and I want the blatant head shots out of the game but if anything that meathead read the play pretty well and threw a good solid hit.

No one here can honestly say that they feel comfortable with Howard in net in crucial games.

Why cant we? He won a game 7 last year, thats pretty crucial I think, I don't think his game has changed that much since then has it?

Defending the POS makes you look like a fool. Have you taken a look at his stats lately? He can't stop a puck at a critical time of the game. His rebound control is like a ping pong ball bouncing off a ping pong table. He shouldn't ever try to puck handle, he causes a turnover or makes bad decisions.

The guy is a bum and a waist of a roster spot. Wings are not winning the cup with him in net.

I came in here for 5 minutes to come read about the nut jobs and you friend have made my night....you sound like a fool...the guy gives up 2 goals..one a beautiful deflection and you want him shipped out of town...get used to him you basket case he's here for 2 years on the cheap.

#2125254 Trevor Gillies

Posted by puckbags on 03 March 2011 - 11:48 AM

Did you watch both videos? Gillies came in within seconds of Cal hitting an Isles player from behind. I would hardly call the incident premeditated. Dirty? Yes, but not premeditated.

Gilles whole game is pre meditated, he only knows how to do one thing and that's be a goon. The funny thing is that the box score has Gilles for 5 for hitting from behind?

buttercup deserved it. he is a chicken s*** who runs around and hides behind his shield and gets others to do his dirty work.

Clusterf*** is a tool and plays on the edge to say it nicely but to say that a guy deserves an elbow to the head is the exact mentality that is leading to all these concussions and dirty hits.

I think that's what "retire" means ;)

And this is a word he's never used before, as stated many times in this thread.

People are having a hard time grasping the concept that he has never retired before today.

Once you've played in Toronto you come with a funky smell that no one wants to deal with anymore !

So you're denying that he hasn't been floating the majority of the season?

Pure floater ...... ;) The Mule

on a side note in the user comments for this story if you scroll down you will see a comment from a user named Mindfly, I'm assuming this would be our very own LGW Mindfly and if you read his comments it will further convince you that he is lost:

I just wished he showed up for every game, became more of a consistent scorer, he's awesome when he gets the hat-tricks, 4goal games here and there but i would take consistency over streakyness. But at 3.9M it's a win-win even though the contract is long, not many teams would get a franzen for that money.

Where does he come up with this stuff, it was the Mule's first career regular season hatty.

#2102878 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

More I think of this, the more I think it was shrewed by everyone involved. The Islanders do nothing more than try to boost ticket sales.

However, Holland knows that this will make all the players in the league notice how bad we want to win a cup and how much players are willing to sacrifice to come here.

It makes a powerful agent happy because he was the only GM willing to go through this waiver embarrassment to get Nabs a job.

It makes Howard notice that there is a ton more pressure on him and lets us see if he will respond.

It highlights what has happened to St. Louis with Svatos and creates a bit of good will with some of the GM's, while making some rivals scramble to figure out what to do in response.

I think they knew that, for all the effort of negotiating, they were not going to get him but the worst case scenario would be that they DID get him.

A smart cliff note summary of 1000 posts...Thanks ! Everyone of these points is right on target.
The only thing hurt in Detroit by this situation is our pride.

Holland doesn't seem to mind, and I bet money the players and fans do a bit. Maybe this is motivational psychology 901. PhD for Kenny.

#2093648 Trade Time?

Posted by puckbags on 08 January 2011 - 05:28 PM

Where do people come up with this stuff? 2nd in the west, 2nd overall and we should just start trading guys? Little bit of indifferent play and some injuries but making needless trades doesn't solve anything.

Datsyuk and Cleary could really help us in our own end right now. They are both so calm and composed. We can blame the d pairings or some shotty goaltending but our forwards are running all over the place in our own end !

In other (good) news, the streak is over, despite help from the refs and quadruple shifting Crosby.

Why wouldn't they quadruple shift him? He is the best player in the world by far right now. The hatred for Crosby makes me laugh. He might whine but he is passionate as hell about being the best. He works at the things he needs to get better at and i'm pretty sure his resume speaks for itself. He's 23 yrs old and won everything. I'm not a huge fan of him because he is a Penguin but saying the refs help them out? cmon stop being such a baby.

I love people on this site who predict that the Wings will lose every game (ie. Mindfly) and then when they do occasionally lose they act like they are the mesiah of hockey predictions !
