#2189577 Babcock "pissed off" about Burns-to-SJ

Posted by puckbags on 25 June 2011 - 11:03 AM

It's still early to hit the panic button, but some people are acting like we are talking about giving prospects for veteran player (Lang/Schneider) and not about 26 old big guy who managed to have 50 points even playing for s***ty Minny

Ya think? It's June 25th, we are still a week away from free agency..this place is pure comedy this time of year.

Way to keep it classy Vancouver and they wonder why their fan base is disrespected and called bandwagon jumpers...what a joke.

Watching live stream of Vancouver riot.. cops tossing tear gas at them. Saw a guy pick one up and threw it back...awesome.

You sir are af****** idiot !

I disagree. All the games have been highly entertaining for me. The ones in Vancouver were close and exciting and the ones in Boston made my heart warm just watching LeBrongo and the 'Nucks fail so hard.

I agree it's really been a good series, I won't say great but good. Some good storylines, hard hitting, high level of play and some hatred.

About 60% of forwards and 70% of defensemen shoot left-handed. You can't just go out and get a right-handed shot because there are far fewer of them. This is despite the fact that around 90% of adult males are right-hand dominant. The reason? In a lot of North American developmental leagues, players are taught to use their dominant hand as the top hand on the stick so that they have more strength and control on the stick in one-handed situations such as a poke-check. European leagues and some North American leagues work primarily on the idea of putting your dominant hand lower on the stick, for power on the puck in shooting situations. Ovechkin is a prime example. Yzerman and Hull are also good examples. They all have/had blistering wrist shots powered by their right-handed shot. I personally am ambidextrous, but I shoot right, and my right arm is stronger. I have also broken my left arm in three places.

We need a right handed shot..end of story. We need a right handed winger who can play the weak side on the PP for one timers and now with Raf gone we are going to need a righty on the PP. Great shooting tutorial but it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a couple of righties on this team would be key. I'm not saying we can find another Hull or Shanny and its obvious that right handed shots are hard to find but if found they are very very valuable.

#2183915 Thoughts on Sami Salo?

Posted by puckbags on 08 June 2011 - 11:46 PM

bridges the gap to ryan suter next off-season.

seems like a fair proposal to me.

on this board we have, as we have in many other realms on this planet, an incredible surplus of people that love to shoot down others' ideas, and an incredible shortage of people that dare to propose their own.

Its probably because you come up with a line/who should we pick up thread everyday, you should just list the name of every player in the NHL and we can comment on them for you. As for Salo , the guy can hurt himself wiping his ass in the morning. He once got bit by a poisonous snake in Finland that wasn't even native to the country...thats about as rare as blueadams not starting a thread in the next 24 hours.

#2178788 Brian Rafalski appreciation thread

Posted by puckbags on 23 May 2011 - 09:59 PM

I could be wrong here, but I think that Brian Rafalski put the Detroit Red Wings ahead of himself today. I think he still wants to play. I think he realized that he was no longer worth the 6mil/season he was being paid. And I think he realized that the organization could make better use of that cap space elsewhere.

He essentially donated $6,000,000 to next year's Stanley Cup run (maybe more, as Lidstrom can now take a pay-cut and still be our highest paid defenseman). Not a lot of professional athletes would have done that, especially in this day and age. It deserves serious recognition and applause, imo.

He had a he!! of a prime with us, won a Stanley Cup, and always gave it all he had.

I think you're very wrong and to be quite honest I think that's ridiculous. He's 37 won the cup mutiple times, has had some nagging injuries and just figured that now is a better time than any to hang em up. Donated 6 million dollars? Cmon..he has made more then enough money in this league..did you ever think that he values his health and would love to spend more time with his family? He took a discount when he signed his deal and to for you to think he's doing this to make the team better is kinda funny actually. Who is out there that we can realistically get that is as good as Raf? Key word being realistic.

#2174596 Changes in the offseason

Posted by puckbags on 12 May 2011 - 11:51 PM

Next year's team is more of the same, I'm afraid. The person that needs to go is none other than KEN HOLLAND. This guy is crippling the Wings with all of his multi-year deals to Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, Rafalski, Draper, etc. This team hasn't had a chance to get better recently because of the dead weight Holland seems to be infatuated with.

Any guy who massacres the name of the greatest player of all time shouldn't be taken very seriously . Yea blame Holland, 100 pt seasons, 50 win seasons, Stanley Cups...I mean what the f*** is going on around here?

you are exactly what is wrong with red wings fans

The irony in that post is well....ironic coming from the biggest douch nozzle on these boards !

#2174572 Our last playoff berth?

Posted by puckbags on 12 May 2011 - 11:41 PM

Columbus is farther east than Detroit...

I hope we have some kind of seniority in this league, if Columbus goes East before us it's such a joke !

#2174524 Our last playoff berth?

Posted by puckbags on 12 May 2011 - 11:26 PM

in the Western Conference that is.. With strong word that Atlanta may be heading up to the great white north and rumors swirling that Detroit would be the team to head East could this have been our last playoffs in the Western Conference. If so it's a shame not to get payback on the Sharks but it could also mean new rivalries, more original 6 match ups and all you east coasters don't have to complain about the games in the Pacific time zone anymore  . With all that said it's been a pretty sucessful run in the West. Obviously none of this has been confirmed as yet but it's something kinda cool to think about moving into the off season .

#2174281 WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Sharks 3

Posted by puckbags on 12 May 2011 - 10:50 PM

Great series and a great effort tonight by our guys playing with 9/10 forwards. 20 years of being a Wings fan and that one probably hurts the most. Adios folks, bulls*** with you all in a couple of weeks after the offseason bulls*** threads are done. And to the true Wings fans out there who stuck with this team until the end. CHEERS !

#2172239 WCSF Game 6 GDT: Sharks 1 at Red Wings 3

Posted by puckbags on 11 May 2011 - 01:32 AM

yeah, hell of a game if you ignore that breakaway fail. countless board battles lost (as usual) and pretty much useless.

...hell of a game.

You have to be one of the biggest losers I have ever seen on these boards, and I've been around long enough to have seen plenty. It's like you live in a perfect world and you think all 20 guys dressed should be perfect every night. It's a team game you ****** and that's what allowed us to get back into this series.

#2166642 Ice time

Posted by puckbags on 04 May 2011 - 11:59 PM

Makes ya wonder if he's hurt? I can see limiting his ice time in the first series but if Babs is still trying to save him I think he's waited a little too long  He's the perfect human..I hope he gets a lot of ice time Friday.

#2164699 Some possible NEEDED changes in the Offseason

Posted by puckbags on 03 May 2011 - 01:16 PM

This place is f**ked which is part of the reason I love it here but we have lost 2 games in a row, played like s*** and now it's going to be 2343 offseason threads...have some faith. I like how the OP put in the disclaimer at the start of his post ...

"Ok folks, I'm not one to panic and say the sky is falling, nor am I one to be negative when things get bumpy."

That is exactly what you are doing !

#2159156 (2) San Jose Sharks vs. (3) Detroit Red Wings

Posted by puckbags on 27 April 2011 - 10:04 AM

i predict the sharks PP running above 30% for the series. not good for the wings.

Are you the guy who just predicts stuff until you eventually get it right? You are the guy who picked the Coyotes to win right? You should go work for ESPN because they keep saying the Wings are due for a bad year eventually. Duh !
