They do the same thing, every fan base does it. Guess what, the players and teams do it too!

 

What fun would it be if the wings are winning a playoff series and I can't taunt/mock the opposing teams fans for whining, and their team being babies?

 

It happend to them 1 game last night. That's my point

Just because it might have happened to them 1 game (and it's probably happened to them more - just like any other team) doesn't make it any more right to yank on their fans when our fan base would be throwing the same hissy fit.  Whining about the refs is stupid no matter how much/little they have too much of an influence.

 

Those are my points.

Well they can't admit we are outworking them, so they have to put the blame somewhere.  When in doubt, question the officiating.

The people who you got along with or who you think can help you out professionally, and vice versa, keep in touch with.

 

It's normal feelings.

 

I got let go in early January without warning from a job I had for nearly 8 years and grew to really enjoy.  I didn't make a whole lot of money, but just about every day I enjoyed what I was doing, enjoyed the people, and so forth.  Needless to say, I was shocked, devastated, angry, and so on.  The split was not passed on well from upper management to me and it is something I will never forget.  I understand the risk of being let go in any job, but I'll just re-state how I was let go was completely unprofessional, I'll leave it at that.  However, during my long time there I met good people, still keep tabs with what they are doing, both at that company and some that have left elsewhere also.

 

Thankfully I was able to find new employment fairly quickly about 1 1/2 months later and am enjoying my new position most days.  Good people.

 

So, try not to get over-emotional on things, but it's natural obviously to feel upset or sad for leaving a place after so long. Maintain contact with the people that you established good working relationships with as well as friendships.  They'll help you down the road.

Feel bad for the guy.  He finally broke out to have a good shot to be in the NHL full-time for good, then the back injury.  Contrary to some thoughts in here, I thought he was ready for the backup gig for good this season and for the near future, injury issues aside.  Hope it all works out for him.

Could be a good signing.  Tootoo is one of the few people I really don't like much in the league largely because of past out of control incidents on the ice.  That being said he's still one of the biggest pains in the rear to play against that you'd like to have on your side when he's playing under control.  Can usually never go wrong with people willing to run through brick walls to hit somebody or make a play.

Hopefully he gets consistent playing time with the salary he got and won't have any bad incidents.

As for the political dealie/skipping the White House celebration, I think it's a bit of a reach to see how these two specific things are connected.  Happened months and months ago so I don't see why it is reason to be brought up when him possibly skipping out has probably little or nothing to do with politics/government.

And as for him skipping out, was his choice and his business.  Don't really agree with it but I understand and respect his decision.  All I'm going to say on that since I pretty much have given up talking politics in depth a long time ago.

trust me he is a grown up, he doesn't need that.

While he may not need "that", whatever it is, just thoughts alone count for plenty and the thoughts (and actions) of plenty likely made him feel good or appreciated.

I'm rarely one to try to ask for anything from people nor do I expect anything from people but I'd be full of s**t if I didn't appreciate people thinking about me or getting mention of somebody considering me/thinking of me for whatever.

This calls for an awkward group hug moment.

Lines go hot/cold all the time, Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi could work well again, but assuming everybody is healthy, I'd stick him on a 3rd line to start.  Him with Helm and Abdelkader for example started off the season real well.

that aint my style. the only reason i mentioned that blues game is it was about the only one down the stretch he impacted the scoreboard but in my eyes even that game was pretty poor. and considering there was much debate after that single game about franzen getting into playoff mode, i figured lots of people might want to point to that game as an example.

my problem with franzen is two fold. first he is one of those guys that looks super lazy on the ice. sure looks can be deceiving, but i think based off how many other people feel that way, there might be something to the sentiment. it pains me that the dude has so much size and skill and plays like a disinterested girl... the other is that he signed that giant contract and now has to live up to it. he led the team in goals but was only 4th in even strength goals. jiri hudler had 5 more even strength goals yet he makes like a third of the salary and is hated by most of the site. franzens role is to score goals. and he couldnt even hit 30? thats despressing as a fan.

edit: and to your point about potential, sure he still has some. but he appears to have regressed. to poor playoffs in a row. (though he was injured last year right?) and 2 straight years under 30 goals. his peak was 34 goals. do you genuinely expect he has enough potential to best that in the coming years?

Fair enough.  The disdain for him, while I get it, is a bit much right now and somewhat irritating to me so it's hard to depict who is on the extreme or not.  So my apologies if I rubbed you the wrong way there.

I'm pretty much in full agreement with you.  I can't think of a dominating game by him or just astounding goals, but you don't score goals by mistake, whether they are from 4 feet in on rebounds, snap shots from the faceoff dot, or getting perfect feeds from a one-timer.

I don't like on here, in general sometimes, that people get on players' cases for how they score goals, or how they should be scoring goals or whatever.  You take them how you can get them.

And I'm definitely no Franzen apologist.  He is frustrating at times but he's still one of the most important players on the team in terms of possibly putting goals on the board and changing a game outcome.  Was he Franzen-like in recent playoff past (not including last season with the annoying sprained ankle)?  No.  Was he awful?  No either.
