I'm about to loose my marbles, I'm stuck over here in the sand box with no way to watch the wings game, we'll I thought I did but the website I use isn't broadcasting it tonight. So now I'm sitting here with my wings jersey on looking like a smuck lol

For the remainder of time I spent in reception it kept the same tempo. Pretty much if you did exactly as they told you there wasn't any problems. We weren't really allowed to talk and everywhere we went it was in formation. We spent a total of 4 to 5 days in reception as I can recall. All you do in reception is take care of the in processing part. Such as paper work, get issued your ta-50 which is a short way of saying your combat gear, and other little things to make sure you are ready to head down range. Now basic for me started the day we all headed "down range" in other means moved to the area where your life as a civilian an a normal tax payer ended and where you train to be one of america's finest. All soon to be Infantrymen head to a place on Fort Benning known as "Sand Hill". Its a place where generation after generation of infantrymen before me and infantrymen after will go to basic to learn the necessary skills to be productive in the us army and be a threat on the battle field. Now back to the story, They broke us all down into platoons and we waited for our bus. Once again, I really didn't know what to expect. A. I was going to die B. it was going to be like reception. There was only one way to find out, and it was to get on that bus to take me to my doom
. After getting all my gear on the bus and situated, the bus door slams shut and no one say's a peep. Some guys are sweating so bad I was almost certain they were going to pass out. Once again like everything in basic, it felt like were on the bus for hours with the tension growing every corner we turned. Finally after some time the bus came to a stop. The next thing the door to the bus swings open and a brown round drill sergeant steps on the bus. The first and only words he said were " GET THE f*** OFF MY BUS YOU CHERRY *****'S". Without a second thought we all shot up, grabbed our bags and tryed to pile out of the bus. We'll with us at this point not being trained to think under pressure, we all attempted to get off the bus at once and got stuck trying to get out of the door. By this point it was as if someone dumped millions of fish into shark invested waters because I look up and there had to be at least 20 more drill sergeants with there big brown round hats waiting to ambush us with another 5 stand outside the bus door screaming at people slowly getting out the door. As we got off the bus I couldn't breath, I couldn't think. It was as though I had lost all control of my body functions. What felt like a light duffel bag became very heavy after we were ordered to and had to run down the street to line up and dump all of our brand new shiny gear. After standing in formation for 40 plus minutes and the drill sergeants screaming at us and them ordering us to lift our bags over our heads and back down again. They finally stopped the madness, by this point my brain could not and would not process what was going on around me. I felt like I was a kid glued to the video screen with drool coming out of his mouth. All I can see is these hudge statue like men stand over us and screaming at us. The only thing I can recall was about every other word was either we are all piece's of s***, and how there going to skull f*** us if this and that happened. You would almost think we were all sheltered our entire life's after some of the stuff they were spitting out and with out hesitation to say so. to be continued... sorry gotta go on mission

BASIC TRAINING
The long road started on 6 Feb 2008, which at the time I thought was the worse day of my life and the worst mistake I've ever made. So on 6Feb28 I reported to good ol' Fort Benning, GA. Which was the "Home of the Infantry". The day I reported I was 18 with hair down to my shoulders, rips in my jeans, and a metallica t-shirt on and half a pack of smokes in my pocket. Over 60 plus to be soldiers and myself, a soaking wet 131 lbs at 5'6 get off the bus to line up at around 1am. I'm more than certain that night that every single one of us had a million things going through our heads, but for the most of us two things fit. What the f*** am I doing here and what did I get myself into. After standing in formation for what felt like hours a tall well built brown round drill sergeant filling comes walking out of the front door. At this point I'm really truley second guessing myself, I mean this man didn't have to say a peep and I'm already thinking to myself that I'mf****** dead. He walks up to us and with a gentle voice explains to us that we are at reception and informed us of all thats expected of us, and what to expect to be done while in reception.... such as get hair cuts, get our military I.D's and take care of medical, etc. Shortly after we all single file into this bright cold building with only benches insight and a desk. We all sit and wait for the next block of instructions. We finally are told to empty our pockets and explained in detail what we were allowed to have and what we weren't allowed to keep of our's. In a nut shell if you weren't married and didn't have a wedding ring you might as well kiss all your s*** good bye. By this time it is 4 am and we are all pretty tired, and by this point we can all tell we are still on the same sheet of music. Even though we were not allowed to talk unless spoken to(kinda like kids are ment to be seen not heard, well yeah thats basic). The question eating us the most is that we are at basic and no ones yelling at us. That brought on more questions, is this it? did the army go soft? what am I missing? However, we were always on edge sitting, waiting for the first drill sergeant to tear into our cherry ass's and just unload the fear of god into us all. After this all is done and all of our personal belongings become good ol' uncle sams personal belongings it is 5am. Now we finally get some sleep, oh joy I just cant wait for that.. ehhhhhh wrong, We get the honor of having some of the best barbers in the army give us all the new hairstyles. Its called a 0 on the hair clippers. This is probably one of the moments I had been dreading so long since signing my life away to our amazing government. Now we are packed in a line like sardines or as the drill sergeants called it " nut to butt" we waited for our horrific moment when we would have to get our heads shaved. Now I'm inching closer closer to my doom, and all I can do is stare at the back of the sorry S.O.B thats in front of me that has to endure the same thing as me. Some time has passed, Now its my turn... s***!!! Here we go, I walk in and sit in the chair. I can see out of the corner of my eye a drill sergeant there just waiting for me to say something, look at him, maybe even twitch just a inch all so he can slam my head of the floor like a night at a pistons game. So I don't move, as far as I can recall I think I was so piss ass scared I didn't even breath the whole time. I don't even remember having my awesome heavy metal head banger hair all cut off. The next thing after wish I was dead before the drill sergeant took care of that wish for me..... You are done son. OH thank god. Then I hoped up and moved with a sense of purpose into the next line to get my military grade A clothing

Hi, I'm SGT Ryan Bessey(flying/wing/n'Iraq), I made this post due to that I'm new to this forum, and already people are asking me about pictures and things in Iraq... So with that said I hope over the next few days WHEN I CAN post new pictures and tell my story and road in the army and many things I experienced that it can be a way to crack the ice for being the new guy and give you all some insight in my daily life over here in the "SAND BOX". By no means am I a story teller. Shoot I can barely use proper grammar, right in complete sentences. Heck I've barely read a book or story let a lone wrote one. So please bare with me. If you could care less about more story then thanks for stopping in. however, if your interest then I hope you enjoy it. Like I said it will be a slow and painful process of updating due to the fact that I personally do not have the luxury of being on the internet when I feel like it. Thanks and happy reading.

Just like to take a few seconds of your time, and say hello to everyone on this forum. I'm Ryan out of Holland, MI, Currently on my 2nd tour in Iraq. I just happened to stumble across this awesome wings forum. I'm by no means going to sit here and blow smoke up your behind and say I'm the BIGGEST wings fan because thats a lie. However I am defiantly a hudge fan and in other words i love the wings just as much as the BIGGEST fan does but why i say that is theres someone out there with more wings gear or merchandise than me, hahaha. I was able to catch a wings game on my two weeks of leave for the first time in 3 years since joining the army. To bad they lost in a shootout to the AV's but it was just an amazing feeling to get back into the joe and be in the atmosphere again after being out for so long.
Now on to my topic, I've been on many forums before and I'm guessing theres a rule post somewhere on here. With that said I'm more than likely breaking a rule as we speak for posting in the wrong section. I would like to know if there's someone that can point me in the right direction.. Thanks
also I hope to be able to get some sweet picks with my wings gear over here and share my experience with you all. We might not be able to play much ice hockey but we still hold the fort down with a little ball n stick game lmfao.
