#2618357 Wings sign Brad Richards 1 yr, $3 million

We have the salary and it's 1 year so doesn't affect future contracts. Great deal!

#2618171 Free agents this off season

I should have put money on this. Holland says he likely stands pat and goes out and gets the big fish. Other years he says he will be active and does nothing lol

People not wanting us to overpay for free agents is dumb. The way the market it is, you will never be able to sign a guy below market value. So the Wings either overpay for someone they think fits or they will never sign a big name free agent again.

#2615176 Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

Posted by Datsyukian-Deke on 19 June 2015 - 12:16 AM

Mantha has the skill, he just came off a major injury in a league that is more difficult than he has ever seen before. He just has some confidence issues. The skill is there. If he gets in a full training camp and season and still is underperforming at the end of next season then I'll hit the panic button. I think he is gonna have a bounce back season however.

Must contain excitement for this kid. Must contain excitement.

I have high hopes for Larkin but to think he is going to make the Wings squad next year is ludacris. He needs to adjust to the AHL for a full season or two. It will be interesting however how he fares against the toughest competition of the AHL off the bat!

#2609166 Coaching Search Thread a.k.a. the Jeff Blashill Thread

Posted by Datsyukian-Deke on 20 May 2015 - 05:06 PM

It's Blashill. I'd bet the farm on it. It's the reason the Wings were comfortable not offering a max offer to Babcock. They have confidence that Blashill can be the guy or babcock would still be here.

#2608640 Question for the Board regarding Babcock

Posted by Datsyukian-Deke on 19 May 2015 - 06:13 PM

Did we really need 2 threads on Babcock?  Isn't one enough?

One for Babcock speculation and one for Babcock landing spot analysis. We need one for Babcock conjecture.

Toronto Star reports "Babcock is leaning towards re-signing with the Detroit Red Wings on a short-term basis, a source told the Star."

I really hope Holland isnt stupid enough to sign Babcock to a short term deal and let Blashill walk. That is the worst case scenario imo

People forget that babcock coached the hell out of the kids the last two years with all the injuries and we made it to the playoffs both years. I truly believe that if someone else was coaching the Wings, one of those two years we would have missed the playoffs. A great coach adapts to the talent he has. People think his methods haven't changed but I guarantee they are different this year then they were in 2008-2009 when he could coach on auto-pilot.

He is the best coaching option out there. With any other coach the Wings take a step back. Go get him Kenny!

Sad that no matter what happens, we are going to lose a good coach in the system. If Babcock stays then Holland runs out of excuses to stop teams from talking to Blashill.

#2596516 J Ericsson - really?

Posted by Datsyukian-Deke on 19 April 2015 - 02:15 AM

It's funny to me that Ericsson gets killed every mistake he makes but dekeyser who makes plenty of mistakes gets a free pass

They are in different stages of their careers. Ericsson should be in the veteran phase whereas Dekeyser is still learning the game. They say it takes 3-4 seasons to know what you have with NHL defensemen. I think we know what we have with Ericsson now.

#2596514 Trade proposals -looking ahead to next season

Weiss for Ovechkin and then trade Marchenko and franzen for Weber. That's basically how this thread sounds.
