#2309258 2012 NHL Entry Draft Discussion

Posted by vladdy16 on 23 June 2012 - 03:08 PM

A few hours ago this is what a Flyers beat writer tweeted:

Randy Miller@RandyJMiller
Here at NHL Draft hearing Suter is going to sign with Detroit and Parise will go to Penguins #Flyers

If we can get Suter and Semin I would definitely not be disappointed... Don't get me wrong I would prefer Parise.  But we'll see, should be fun.

Of the two, I would prefer Parise as well, but the Wings needs at this point dictate Suter signing is more imperative.  I have my fingers crossed.

Well I just saw the score on the ticker and saw that Howard is injured so you pretty much know what I think about the outcome of this game! I guess the 4 seed is where the Wings will finish and you can add the Hawks to the list of teams including the Canucks, Blues & Sharks who can all eliminate the Wings in the playoffs.

#2234922 Jimmy Howard eyes spot in NHL All-Star game

I'll probably get 'negged for this, but I feel bad for the guy. Doesn't get recognized by the NHL as an all-star caliber goalie and then he has his own fanbase deciding that he needs to rest rather than be an all-star. While I agree that he could use the rest, I think he's still young enough to be given an opportunity to enjoy himself at an all-star event and not effect his game in a negative way.  Based on that link above, he seems pretty excited at the opportunity and his friends (I will go ahead and assume family too) sound just as excited as he is. Yet here we are, from the couches in our living room, deciding that he needs to rest rather than having an opportunity at a fun weekend   .

I voted for him.

With a man advantage, i expect our team to control the play, not give up break a ways and get dominated during it. It's not whining, it's being disappointed in your team when you know they are capable of being better, regardless of score. Even if we were up by 8 goals, I'd expect them to control the play on a powerplay.

The other team wants to win too, you know. It's not unheard of for a team with a 2-goal lead to play a little more cautiously at the end of the game, while the team that's down, especially if they're desperate for points (like Tampa) pushes hard regardless of man disadvantage.

Awesome game, Detroit played very, very good hockey and there's a little too much whining about small stuff imo. This felt like a playoff game.

6 straight wins and the team is looking great pretty much top to bottom. I'm of course worried about the workload for Howard, but for now watching him is so much fun.

I got negged for telling people to quit whining?  The Wings were winding down the clock.  It's no different than quarterbacks taking a knee late in the game.  Do you ***** about that too?  WE'RE WINNING.  STOP IT.  Bunch of got damn children.

Quit whining about the PP.  We're leading by two goals, with 2 mins left in the game.
