In Topic: Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

You mean the ex-Bronco lineman? Kinda fits. He played great. And one of the most physically flexible lineman I ever saw warm up. But personally, he turned out to be somewhat of a weirdo.

No he has never played professionally anywhere.  He is a career radio guy who has had a lot of issues holding jobs because of addiction and anger issues.  He probably is the most passionate hockey guy on the radio in Chicago and has been a fan for a lot longer then the last several years.

In Topic: Valtteri Filppula's Value?

I predict he resigns with The Wings for 4.5.  The Wings clearly want him or they would have traded him at the deadline, so they will pay up to keep him.  I do not agree with this, just giving my prediction.

I am not trying to defend Holland, but how much of this is also on Babcock?  There seems to be no doubt that he prefers the Clearys and Millers(veterans) over younger players.  Holland may just be thinking it is better to be actually playing in GR then minimal mins in Det

In Topic: Detroit/Chicago Divisional Rivalry

13 April 2013 - 06:37 AM

I live in Illinois and I think the Hawks/Wings rivalry is way more important to Hawks fans.  They are all kinds of giddy over facebook about sweeping the Wings.  In Jest I said that they only really beat the Wings once this season the others were just ties that got decided in a game of 5 mins of fake hockey finished with a free throw contest.  Most seemed surprised that OT rules and shoot outs are kind of a newer thing.  I think when Belfour wouldnt do the hand shake line back in 94? the rivalry was somewhat chippy.  Never nearly as intense as some of the other more recent Wings rivals though.

In Topic: Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension

I think the only way this deal turns bad is if Howard starts to play much poorer than he is currently.  I think we obviously need scoring, but with our average defense core I also think it is important that the Wings have a good solid goalie.  Seems that the Goalie/Defense is set going forward. Time to work on the Forwards...hopefully
