I think that had to do more with him being injured though then just being bad. I could be wrong but IF he is healthy I think he is number 2 no matter what.

It's probably worth noting that legwand was demoted to the fourth line due to poor performance. I don't see why Babcock wouldn't demote Weiss if he doesn't play well as the 2C

Your lips to YFMB's ears...

Minus the whole whining about being left off the Canadian Olympic team and daring to give lip to my lord and-er, captain the honorable Pope Yzerman the 1st.

Haha if Tatar has trouble making the Slovakian Olympic team, there's a problem

The wings will be fighting with Toronto Columbus islanders etx etc for the last two spots in playoffs again. UNLESS it's a freak year and everyone stays healthy...

I don't think everyone has to stay completely healthy, just healthier than last year. They should be fine as long as Datsyuk and Zetterberg don't each miss half a season. As long as we don't have half our team injured at the same time.

Well than I'm rather wrong than delusional. Pens, Bolts, Habs, Blue Jackets, Rangers are clearly better. Flyers may be a toss up but their physicality gives them the edge.

Blue jackets I would say are pretty comparable. I've always thought the Habs were overrated and they rode a hot streak to the conference finals. The bolts always seem to follow up a good year with a sub-par year.
I think most of those teams are close enough to us skill-wise that either team could get the upper hand. I wouldn't call any team "clearly better than us" except boston

It's great to have that opinion but FACT is we are as of right now. Look at the last few years....

There are 30 teams in the league, and 8 of them make the second round each year. That's just over 25% of teams. The average team should get to the second round once every 4ish years. I would say those other teams mentioned are below average.
Since their last finals appearance, Detroit has made the second round 3 out of 5 years, or 60%. The FACT is that Detroit has been well above average in the last few years
