#2617076 #19 OA Evgeny Svechnikov

Ha its kind of shocking that he just started learning English, and already speaks more English than datsyuk supposedly does.

Dats has to be fibbing about his knowledge of the English language, maybe he doesn't like dealing with the media or something..

But this years camp is gonna be fun, with all these high end kids coming in.
And ken Holland said Larkin, mantha, and svech are all going to be given chances to make the team out of camp, and he seemed more committed to the youth movement than in years past...

It has me wondering if babs was the one who pushed for more veteran laden rosters, and if blash will change all that.
It would be awesome to see one of the three on the big club next season, I wanna Calder trophy winner.

Any red wing winning the Calder next year would be a stretch with mcdavid and Eichel coming up. Maybe we should hold them back one more year so they can go for the award in 2017

It would be incredible if Chicago would part ways with seabrook before his last year and we could snag him

Kronner was invisible in game 7

#2595124 Post-GDT ECQF Game 1: Red Wings 3, Lightning 2 (DET leads, 1-0)

A lot of nyquist and Tatars struggles I think came from being matched up against the stamkos line for much of the night. I'm sure that's a matchup cooper with stick with in tampa's home games. I would imagine Babcock will try to avoid that matchup and maybe try to match Datsyuk's line against them.
As far as the defense goes, someone said we played really bad defensively but I actually thought the opposite. We lost the puck possession game really badly and gave up a lot of shots but I thought everyone was in the right spots, clogging the middle and forcing outside shots that Mrazek didn't have any problems with.
The best news of all is that we have so much to improve but we still got the win. I don't think we'll see a game as lopsided as this one again

#2552592 Are the Wings a Contender?

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 28 November 2014 - 10:06 PM

I haven't been following this site in a while, but are you guys watching the same wings as me?? Of course they can contend!
They're young
They're fast
They get solid point contributions from 3 lines and their defense
Powerplay looks good
Pk looks good
Coaching obviously is good
Goaltending looks really good
They're grittier than last year
They have the ability to come back in games
They don't give up leads like they did last year
They've avoided the injury bug for the most part
Secondary guys have stepped up when our top guys have been hurt
And most importantly, they play really well against good teams!

The list goes on and on
Maybe I'm crazy though

I was at the game tonight. Lots of wings fans in attendance, I don't know if they showed or talked about that on the broadcast. Overall one of the quietest NHL games I've ever been to but it was fun having wings fans on all sides of me to enjoy the game with.

Given his sense of humor, sometimes I wish he would just sit back, crack jokes and make sarcastic remarks over the course of the game

#2546456 Strong Penalty Killing, Lack of Scoring the Story of 2014 So Far

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 03 November 2014 - 04:36 PM

Boy, these guys don't know what they're talking about. Maybe they should watch some games before they comment

How are Nyquist, tatar, helm, Jurco, abdelkader, sheahan and Glendenning all the same type of player?

How is Nyquist not a scorer?

And Dekeyser is offensive? Haha

Wings win 1-0 in a shootout because I have Carey Price on my fantasy team. :)

#2534451 Lines Thread

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 17 August 2014 - 11:07 PM

I think that had to do more with him being injured though then just being bad. I could be wrong but IF he is healthy I think he is number 2 no matter what.

It's probably worth noting that legwand was demoted to the fourth line due to poor performance. I don't see why Babcock wouldn't demote Weiss if he doesn't play well as the 2C

#2533236 Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

Your lips to YFMB's ears...

Minus the whole whining about being left off the Canadian Olympic team and daring to give lip to my lord and-er, captain the honorable Pope Yzerman the 1st.

Haha if Tatar has trouble making the Slovakian Olympic team, there's a problem

#2532895 Hockey News: Detroit has the easiest schedule

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 23 July 2014 - 03:46 PM

Well than I'm rather wrong than delusional. Pens, Bolts, Habs, Blue Jackets, Rangers are clearly better. Flyers may be a toss up but their physicality gives them the edge.

Blue jackets I would say are pretty comparable. I've always thought the Habs were overrated and they rode a hot streak to the conference finals. The bolts always seem to follow up a good year with a sub-par year.
I think most of those teams are close enough to us skill-wise that either team could get the upper hand. I wouldn't call any team "clearly better than us" except boston

The source doesn't say Detroit has the easiest schedule because of the teams they play. Their measurement is all about back to backs
