#2534443 Lines Thread

Posted by number9 on 17 August 2014 - 10:00 PM

1. Putting Sheahan at wing when he is more durable and better than helm(IMO) would be a mistake. Helm should be the fourth line center...where he belongs.

2. In the second scenario I understand why you have Tatar and nyquist where they're at. But that's putting a lot of faith into guys who have only done it for a part of one year at the nhl level but we don't have anyone else to play the top 6.

3. Also no jurco makes me wanna cry but I know these are more realistic rosters except you forgot cleary in the first and there's no way Weiss is fourth line. He is either numer 2 center or hurt IMO. He will be given every opputunity(earned or not) because that's how the wings roll. Vets given too many opportunities young guys not enough.

1. Helm is our fastest forward and probably the best defensively outside of Datsyuk and Zberg. To not play him at Center would be wasting his talents. From what I understand Sheahan is a natural LW. Helm is also regarded as one of the better 3rd line C's in the entire league. Playing him on the 4th, is again wasting his talents. I wouldn't play Datsyuk on the 2nd just because he was injured last year.

2. I'll do anything to keep Abdelkader out of the top 6. But yes, we have no one more else suited for a top 6 role than Nyquist or Tatar.

3. Cleary would be scratched in my first. Your bit about Weiss being #2 no matter what simply isn't the case though, and is not at all how the Wings roll. Babs demoted him to 4th line C very quickly last year when he wasn't performing. The same will happen again if he doesn't show up.

#2532910 Jim Paek leaves Griffs to help run Korean Hockey

The South Korean team would get destroyed by the North. Kim Yung Un averages 14 goals a game between his trips to the moon and shooting 18 on an 18 hole golf course.

#2532886 Hockey News: Detroit has the easiest schedule

Posted by Dabura on 23 July 2014 - 12:36 PM

There is one team in the Eastern Conference that is unequivocally better than the Red Wings. That team is the Bruins. Otherwise, it's wide open; the Wings, if healthy and humming, can go toe-to-toe with any EC team in a playoff series. If you disagree, you are wrong.

With the exception of Detroit, Tampa Bay and possibly Columbus, every other Eastern team who made the playoffs has taken a serious step back or are in cap hell.

Washington looks good on paper but they have always looked pretty good on paper. (aside from their goaltending)

Carolina did nothing to improve.  Islander's defence is a joke and who knows with the Leafs.

Personally, I like our chances....

#2531568 McCollum signed.

Howard - Monster

Mrazek - McCollum

Coreau - Patterson

That's a pretty decent tandem at every level.

#2531104 Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Posted by Euro_Twins on 10 July 2014 - 03:48 PM

i give up.

not following the team this season.

At least one good thing came of this...

I really hope Cleary just goes on ltir all year again. But I know he will be in the top 6 for a while, I didn't want to believe it was possible. I guess I just like to give #fireholland the benefit of the doubt too much.... Well we're done until Alfie is ready to sign

Edit : auto crocodile sucks today

#2530250 Please Help Me Win GDT of the year.

Posted by FlashyG on 06 July 2014 - 01:41 PM

Right now I'm currently locked in a very tight back and forth Battle with the Philadelphia Flyers in the semi-finals of the competition.

I need help getting votes to move on to meet the Sharks in the finals.

Not only is their GDT a wall of text they have been quite disrespectful towards my work.

You need to have an HFboards account already to vote, but if you have one please follow the link cast your vote

Thanks for any help you can give me.

#2529284 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

Posted by RyanBarnes! on 02 July 2014 - 02:40 AM

Even without additions this team will improve as the kids gain more experience and confidence. Smith and Dekeyser will be a year older and this should help. Now I dont expect much improvement on the injury front as this team is still terribly soft. On the other hand it cannot get much worse can it? The Red Wings is a playoff team with the current roster. Will be interesting to see if any deal can be made and if Mantha can compete for a roster spot.

I'm not mad at KH not signing one year wonders like Niskanen or aging guys like Boyle. We don't need them in fact and could have regretted these deal.

I'm not mad at KH for signing Quickey. He is top 4.

I'm mad at filling the roster with Kindls and Lashoffs and not being able to trade them for something meaningful. Play our youngsters on the D, Sproul, Oulette, Backman, Marchenko.

#2527082 Ehrhoff or Niskanen

Posted by frankgrimes on 29 June 2014 - 09:51 PM

we can afford both. Erhoff got bought out, so he can come fairly cheap. $3M maybe. Niskanen $6m maybe. Trade Kindl and give that $2.4M to Diesel. You still got $5m for Sheahan and Tatar. Once you dump Andersson and give Sheahan and Tats about $2.5M together. You have over $3M for Iginla or just hold on to the $3M for space.

This is the real NHL not NHL x GM mode.

#2526514 Dylan Larkin - Highest draft pick since 1991

Posted by wings4thecup06 on 28 June 2014 - 09:55 AM

Except that I trusted Holland and the scouts that Ferraro and Emmerton wouldn't be Ferraro and Emmerton!

But not every prospect turns out to be what people say there are going to be. Potential and the ability to fully realise it are two completely different things. It is frustrating when it doesn't happen though.

I love people pretending they know what this kid will become. I put my trust in Holland and the scouts rather then a couple posters who think he is Ferraro or Emmerton

Reading the scouting reports this kid could be exactly what we need, also a comparison to Kesler / Bergeron from TSN Bob McKenzie is good enough for me.

#2526573 NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

Posted by wings4thecup06 on 28 June 2014 - 11:29 AM

Holland failing to make room for improvements on the NHL roster. Still have too many forwards, s***ty D. No room for UFA's. Failing to trade Kindl, Andersson. He will just kick tires for the rest of his career. He absolutely disappointed Red Wings Nation again thus far. Sure his drafts were solid, but Detroit as a NHL team still sucks. Get ready for Q and Alfie to come back when no UFA of any value wants to come here after Holland, once again, fails to make his team a more attractive place to play. Pathetic. " But, but, were Detroit, everyone wants to play here...for pennies. "

You mean you and you alone?

Actually I'm quite content with what's happened the last little while. We've drafted thus far, 3 guys at centre all with decent size, speed and two way ability. It looks like from all intensive purposes that KH will address a few needs over the offseason judging from what he, Babs and various other members of the organisation have said.

And you know what, if all we end up with is signing Tom Gilbert and Alfie comes back, I would be perfectly happy with that. Because I believe we've got a great mix of veterans and youth that is about to take a huge step forward, and there's more help coming in the form of Mantha, Sproul, Ouellet, Marchenko, Mrazek and co which will make us one of the best young teams next year or the year after for quite some time. If you, and all of the other KH bashers are so gasping for us to trade away all our young assets so just to acquire a couple of guys who will make you feel better immediately, then why don't you contact the Red Wings personally?

If you and a few others can't see the transformation and the long term plan that KH has in mind here like some of us can, then fair enough. But don't keep bashing the same old drum over and over again because you're not happy about what's happening. It's getting kinda tiring.

#2526163 Kesler traded to Anaheim

Posted by Datsyukian-Deke on 27 June 2014 - 02:21 PM

Oddly enough I read an article not too long ago that stated Anaheim is one of the worst places to live. I don't remember why though, probably because all they have going for them is Disney.  This is, of course, me talking about a place I don't live based on an article I read so take that for what you will.  I have been there though, to Disney.

I guess if you hate really nice neighborhoods, schools, awesome beaches, and yearly 70 degree temperatures then yea it would suck to live in Anaheim.
