#2419269 2013 Offseason Thread

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 11 June 2013 - 04:19 PM

Yes, on shorter term contracts though...if Franzen were on a 5 year deal, he'd be topping $8M a season for his (lack of) production.  The only reason he is at $3.9M is because of the 11 years.  If all those other guys were also on 11 year contract, they'd be in the $3M's as well.  There is nothing valuable about Franzen's contract, because we are stuck with him for the next 7 years....
Lets look at James Neal, currently making $5M per season.  Similar numbers, he's up and down has actually scored 40 before, but he averages in the mid 20's.  He signed a 6yr $30M contract.  Franzen singed an 11 year $43M contract...who has the better value, Franzen cost us $13M more...
Lets see what Franzen would be making if he had signed a 6yr deal....oh geez, $7.1M per season.  Now what about Neal's $30M on an 11 year contract? $2.7M per.  Again, there is no value to Franzen contract. Period. I'd rather have Neal at $30M tens times over Franzen at $43M...
So who is more valuable? Franzen's 28 goals at $7.1M on a 6 year deal or Neal's $5M on a 6 year deal?  Franzen's $3.9M on an 11 year deal or Neal's $2.7M on an 11 year deal?  Franzen's $43M or Neal's $30M?  All three ways, Franzen is a waste of money...

What you said made absolutely no sense. If Neal signed an 11 year contract, it would be for a hell of a lot more than 30 mill. If franzen signed a 5 year contract, it would be for a hell of a lot less than 43 mill.

Once Nepal's 5 years are up, he'll sign another contract. You realize that right? Over the course of 11 years, he will make a lot more than franzen

Bruins in 5. Defense is too good

Your decision on where to put dekeyser was way out of left field....

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 05 June 2013 - 11:33 PM

Gotta respect the effort by both teams in this one.

-Campbell's penalty kill (which may have been his last shift in these playoffs) was incredible

- Crosby was playing like a man posessed on that shift in 2nd OT. He came very close to winning the game himself. Except...

- Johnny Boychuck made 2 insane diving blocks to prevent Crosby from ending the game and making this a series.

- The goalies were incredible tonight. Both of them. Rask has officially proven that he can be a playoff goalie. He's proven that he has grown a ton since that debacle in 2010

Maybe the best game of the playoffs so far.

Looking forward to teaching these teams a lesson or two in the east next year!

The bullls*** rule potentially affecting another game. I hate the pens, but this goal is just ridiculous. They really need to just treat it like an icing, yet they don't even address it when they propose all those other rule changes

Trade: Quincey (He is good (sometimes.) but highly overpaid.

Buy out: Bert, Sammy

Resign: Filppula, Nyquist, Smith, Kindl, Brunner, Andersson, Cleary, Miller.

Sign: Stalberg/Bickell/Ryder and a defensemen

Howard - Monster

Kronwall - Big E

Smith - Dekeyser

Colaiacovo - Kindl

Quincey(Or someone new?) - Lashoff

Zetterberg - Pasha - Bickell/Stalberg/Ryder

Nyquist - Filppula - Franzen

Brunner - Helm - Cleary

Tootoo - Andersson - Abdelkader

Eaves - Emmerton - Miller

Maybe Tatar is ready for a place in our first lineup and if, i want him to play in top 6. Otherwise i rather se him play lots in the Grand Rapids and gets called up from time to time to show what he can bring into our lineup.

I wouldn't dismantle that third line. If anything, I would do Brunner-helm-tatar, or Brunner-helm-nyquist

I like miller, but he probably wont be re-signed

We wont get a defenseman unless we trade at least 2 away

The East might be more physical than the West, but come on.

It's not like we're going from Ice Capades to Slapshot.

Exactly! People seem to think we're going to be walked all over in the east. I don't even think the east is that much different than the west. They have Boston, but St. Louis, LA and San Jose aren't slouches in the hitting department.

#2417358 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 03 June 2013 - 01:29 PM

Pascal Dupuis - Sidney Crosby = average second/third liner at best

How can you guys be so blinded by stats that you cant see that he isn't even very good?

This article pretty much sums up my feelings about pascal dupuis and his potential

datsyuk needs help in the TSN play of the year vote. He's currently losing to Fehr by a slim margin with about a day and a half left

#2416735 People who don't "buy in" to Corey Crawford

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 31 May 2013 - 11:49 PM

After a few days to think about it yes

Jimmy was outplayed by Corey by a ..................................................

Whatever you want to call it

Love Jimmy to death but in the end we lost.

Let's see how the Corey vs Jonathan saga unfolds even if most of us don't care......

How was Jimmy outplayed? Jimmy outplayed Crawford by a lot. Crawford is the sole reason why Chicago wont win the cup this year

Great season boys

#2414186 Interesting stat

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 28 May 2013 - 11:25 PM

The last 5 teams to win the cup (Detroit-2008, Pittsburgh-2009, Chicago-2010, Boston-2011, Los Angeles-2012) are the only remaining teams in cup contention.
After tomorrow this stat will no longer be true as Chicago (2010 winners) will be out. :)

This is awesome. Well said!
Tomorrow will either be a bitter end to an incredible and surprising season, or another chapter in a Cinderella story for the ages. Either way, the wings are the best organization in sports and I'm proud to be a fan.
This season has made me prouder than any other because we are exceeding everyone's expectations.
