I still think when it's all said and done the contract will be gone , but holland is gonna sit back and let the teams go to him

And trust me they will , if teams like Chicago wanna be stupid and give up a teravainen, it doesn't mean we have to , and I don't care what some think but this contract has value to a team like Carolina who are in financial ruins and can save 7 million dollars by taking his contract

They'll come to us by the end of June begging for that contract

Gonna say it again. If Holland fails to trade that contract he needs to be fired. Period.

If it's gonna cost a mantha or a top prospect then he shouldn't do it , free up cap space by dealing Ericsson and Howard

#2677715 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 14 June 2016 - 09:23 PM

I thought it was announced already how the expansion draft would work? Didn't an article come out a few days ago?

Players with 2 yrs pro, NHL or ahl would be exempt which means Larkin and Russo that come to mind would be safe but players like mantha, bertuzzi wouldn't

Like you said though , we might make some deals this off season and add a dman or someone worth protecting ... I just hope we protect the kids we been developing such as mantha and bertuzzi

Too be fair our dollar is in the toilet. They probably wanna see it stabilise before bringing in another Canadian team.

That and more importantly i believe a team will relocate to Quebec City ... Maybe Carolina Hurricanes

And don't forget Winnipeg got Atlanta during a hockey season so it's a possibility Quebec also joins Vegas in 2017-2018

Yeah, savard still gets paid some I believe (not the full amount because it was front loaded). Datsyuk's cap hit will be free for whoever has it.

That would help ... If we have to give up a 2nd or a 3rd we should suck it up for a year

It still baffles me ... Yes were helping ourselves and our current cap situation but teams who don't wanna spend actual cash money and are having problems financially also benefit greatly and yet were expected to give up a top pick?

Pass .... Play the kids and trade other assets

Wow Florida gave up a 2nd draft pick to get rid of Marc savard's contract that has one season left on it? That's just f***en retarded

At this point I hope to god Detroit keeps datsyuks contract on the books since it's just for one season and give the kids a chance to play for once

If we want to free up cap space or make moves do so by gettin rid of Ericsson and a Tatar/nyquist

I don't get some of these gm's in this league

I couldn't agree more. I'll be kind of pissed if we re-sign Miller again, even if it's one year at league minimum (which it wouldn't be). There are countless other players in the organization that could step in and provide more than what Miller does. He's the definition of a plug. Move on Kenny...

It's the same problem we keep having ... Being way too loyal to player

Would I like helm to resign? Sure but not at 3-4 per which he's gonna get , he's most likely gonna fall down to the 3rd-4th line eventually ... Signing helm close to 4 per let's say and Miller would take away 2 roster spots and we already have nosek and frk out of waivers I believe? Athanasiou Larkin mantha most likely all starting next year

We sign those 2 guys Pulkkinen/jurco/nosek/frk could possibly all be gone just to make room for yet again ... Vets

Never ends

He's gonna be 24 in December , 3 NHL seasons but none were ever a full season

I'd like to see him play 70+ and get some good linemates for a consistent time and not switched around all the time and play on the 4th line

Top 3 lines , linemates with skill and some occasional ppl time ... He's got all the tools , just needs a consistent, real shot

They are already upgrading with Parayko, they can get top value for him and he will be very expensive to resign, asking for 8yrs somewhere around 6M AAV what would be quite tricky for StL.

Pulk/Sproul/4th for Shattenkirk? Ehehe..you mad? Would you let go Larkin for something like Jaskin/Fabbri and 4th?

No. He´s going into his prime, one the best D in the league. Asking price will be much higher, even considering the fact he´s ufa next year.

Shattenkirk one of the best d in the league? That's just ridiculous

Id pass on shattenkirk , yes he can put up numbers but he's really overrated

Can't believe we let that game go ... We had that game 7 in our hands and blew it

And getting stamkos will give us headaches down the road

Stamkos gets 10 per and gets 75 pts ... Then 50-60 pt guys are gonna be demanding 7 per

Plus stamkos has blood clot issues which can be a problem down the road so I wouldn't even think of bringing him here , if we're signing someone to 10 per it better for a number 1 defensemen

Pulkkinen got 2 goals and got player of the game and led Finland to a 3-2 victory over larkin's u.s.a

More reason not to just throw him away in a deal to move up a few spots at the draft ... If he sticks around he needs a real shot and ice time , no way he shouldn't be getting 20 goals in the NHL

As of now, it looks like only Arizona, Carolina, and NJ might need help getting to the floor. All of those teams have a lot of spots to fill, so they might get there anyway. We can hope that more than one of them needs help, but if there's only one team that ends up having any interest, they could ask for a lot if they think we're more desperate than they are.

Most likely it will be fairly cheap. I would think less value than even Pulk. But you never know. Could be that no one even needs it.

Well if no one wants datsyuks contract at a good price to save cash then f*** them ... Pavel only has one year left , we can free up cap space by getting rid of Howard and hopefully Ericsson

And we have Quincey and Richards off the books this year .... We won't get ripped off , I'd much rather use pulkkinen in a package deal or give him some real ice time and see what he can do , than a throw in to get rid of a one year contract

I absolutely DONT think now is the time to trade for a defenseman. Sure we need one, but no high end defenseman are available for trade. Shattenkirk? Vatanen? They're no better than Yandle and you wouldn't have to lose assets to get him. What we definitely don't need to do is throw away good assets, from a rebuilding team, on a second tier defenseman. Magically put PK Subban on our current team and we still aren't contenders. We need a good defenseman to be hitting his stride in 3-5 years, when Larkin, AA, Mantha, Tatar, Nyquist, etc. are all in their primes. Not next year.

If we could get a trouba or a young defensemen with some potential like dumba or one of the ducks/flyers many defensive prospects then we need to do it and replenish the prospect pool for defensemen

As for shattenkirk or vatanen ? I personally think there a bit overrated , sure put up some points but there not known for playing solid defense ... I would take one of them ONLY if mike green was traded elsewhere .. But at 6 million per year for green that's highly unlikely unless we'd be eating cap space

As for the comments around about zetterberg ... Yes he had a bad year but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and give him another season to see how he performs before saying he's done , think he deserves that

I think if he's healthy all season long maybe giving him a few days off here and there so he plays around 74 games will benefit the redwings during the season and playoffs ... Same with kronwall

Tough year for the vets but with Jagr still performing I think zetterberg can still bring something ... Maybe put him with athanasiou and mantha ... Just 2 kids like Jagr has , maybe that'll get him going
