i seen it around on tsn and sportsnet when they talked about possible trade bait and seeing the prices these players are getting i wouldnt be surprised if hes thinking he can get 5 million from a team ... just today i heard derek roy was asking dallas for 6 million per ... these players are f*cken ridiculous
i predict filppula wont get traded and hes gonna go to another team and we'll lose out on a possible 1st round return ... just cause
Pretty sure that's Tootoo. He's not big but he's nasty, physical, body checks the crap out of guys and fights. Oh yeah and he has scored this season. Something Clowe hasn't done.
like you said hes not big ... hes hardly gonna intimidate anyone on boston next year ...nobody should be surprised next year when bostons running over everyone
here
It's just hard to imagine the Wings offering what Matheson and MLive's Ansar Khan reported was a $4.5-5 million asking price for a player who's skating into the boards and stripping himself of the puck lately.
So Matheson suggests that the Wings need to bite the bullet and part ways with #51 now instead of waiting until the draft to move Filppula's rights--even given the fears that Pavel Datsyuk may head home to be with his daughter in Yekaterinburg after next season:

Yes.
Look at their career numbers.
Howard .917 with 2.42 gaa his best season was .924 and 2.26 GAA 2.25 million
Price .916 with 2.53 gaa his best season was .923 and 2.35 GAA 6.5 million
Rinne .920 with 2.35 gaa his best season was .930 and 2.12 GAA 7 million
Ward .910 with 2.74 GAA his best season was .923 and 2.56 GAA 6.3 million
Quick .915 with 2.32 GAA his best season was .929 and 1.95 GAA 5.4 million
I don't see the major difference, but you know where I do see? Look at salaries. Howard at 4-5 million is better.
And Rinne's and Quick's best season were behind defensively oriented clubs, not a type of team Howard is playing behind now.
I really think Howard gets underrated here, we finally get a very good goalie, and yet he's not good enough. If we were paying him Quick money, and then puts up .895 SV% like Quick is this year do you think we'd be happy?
ward won a cup mvp
quick won a cup mvp
both those goalies are the reasons they won the cup and stole series for them ... howards won nothing
rinne is the only reason nashville even competes and price is just starting off but hes a future star
your thinking with your heart not your head
When Howard was 21 he also turned around the fortunes of the Griffins with #'s extremely similar to Mrazeks.
Mrazek is a great prospect but he's not in the stratosphere of a franchise goalie, Unless you mean an AHL franchise goalie, which might be true, but lets see how he performs in the playoffs first.
He might become an NHL starter, there is also a slight chance he could become the Franchise goalie you keep calling him, but there is probably a bigger chance that he never sticks in the NHL at all then there is that he will become one of the NHL's elite netminders. That's not a knock on him either, its just the reality of goaltending at the NHL level.
Putting the expectation of him being a Franchise goalie as a 21 year old who's accomplished nothing as a professional is just setting the guy up to fail. Lets wait and see what we have before we start throwing those kind of projections around.
your already expecting him to fail with your disbelief in he can be an nhl franchise goalie .... and yes i think he can be i surely dont think he can be an ahl franchise goalie hes got way more potential then just that
there are only 3 goalies in the league that have faced as many shots as howie or more, that have put up better numbers than him. lundqvist, dubnyk, and niemi have better sv%. Rinne, lundqvist, and niemi have better gaa.
Miller, Pavelec, Bryzgalov, nabakov and varlamov all have faced more shots then any of them and have put up lower numbers. So technically, there are only 3-4 goalies who currently have proved they are better then jimmy while receiving the same kind of attention in net. Although i don't if i would include Rinne as much becasue he has played 4 more games then any of those goalies, so he doesn't face the same amount of shots per game
dont forget this is also a shortened season with no training camp and pre season hockey so i wouldnt put too much stock into this years stats , your telling me king henrik is over although hes been far from his usual self?
columbus a playoff team? a shortened season = alot of surprises

I love Mrazek I really do. But Jimmy is here for the foreseeable future. Adding young big forward to our line up will make us a more effective team for the next 4-5 years, and Couturier has all the potential in the world to be a great player.
I don't see the downside, we lose a blue chip goalie, for a blue chip forward. The difference is we actually have a good goalie that will be here for a while, while our forward depth looks pretty barren for bigger top 6 caliber prospects.
Now unless you think Mrazek will step in next year if we let Howard go, I don't see how this deal doesn't look appealing.
sorry doesnt look appealing ... just because howard is doing well doesnt mean mrazek wont surpass him and we can trade howard in 2-4 yrs you think if chicago could redo the hasek trade they wouldnt of kept hasek and trade belfour a year or 2 later??
sorry mrazek is untouchable hes got the potential to steal a series by himself , if you wanna trade a goalie prospect its jake patterson
Pretty much everyone is tradeable. A center with size, the ability to step into the NHL at 19 and with such a high ceiling is well worth a top end G prospect. Ultimately Howard is the goalie for the next 5 years at least which makes Mrazek expendable. Is Courturier worth it? I'm not educated enough to say. But Mrazek is definitely tradeable.
whens the last time we had a true superstar goalie with the wings??? osgood ?? vernon??cheveldae?? hanlon? howard is good but i wouldnt say hes an elite goalie we finally have one in mrazek who can be an elite nhl goalie and you guys wanna ship him off .... no thank you
Mrazek is going to be the back up in about 2 years, then once Howards contract start coming to an end, they will probably split until Mrazek slowly takes over.
if anything in 3-4 yrs we can get a nice return back for howard when mrazek is ready for fulltime duties

And Couturier has the potential to be a star forward. The difference is Courturier actually has proven to be an NHL player by the age of 19.
umm no thanks you dont trade away goalies of mrazek's caliber

A better deal would be Mrazek and Ouellet for Courturier. They want goalie and defensive depth.
I don't care if he's struggling his sophmore year, he's still extremely young and provides a good effort to go along with size.
At the very least he's a direct upgrade over Abdelkader, at the very best he's a 6'2 franchise center that will spark our scoring wingers for years to come.
I would absolutely love it.
mrazek and ouellet??? no offense but your f*cken crazy ... mrazek has the potential to be a star goalie and ouellet a valuable all around defensemen ...and flyers will only trade couturier in a package deal if they can get a top forward like bobby ryan (dregger mentioned it yesterday)

TRADE IAN WHITE
these prices are ridiculous !! we could probably get a 2nd and maybe a 5th as well at this rate we'd be stupid not to trade him as hes gone anyways and he probably wont even play much anymore

Edited the thread title to be less obnoxious.
I understand not liking Crosby, but celebrating that he got hit in the face with the puck is lame.
ive seen plenty of other people come here and laugh at redwings injuries and stuff ...i respect your opinion any other peoples here if they think im wrong but i wont apologize for hating crosby and being happy he got hurt sorry if it offends people but its my right to hate

just got a text from my friend saying he left the game after getting a puck to the head how funny would it be if iginla chose to go there to play with crosby and he just got to play 1 period with that loser

regardless if datsyuk leaves or not if he wants 5 million per year we shouldnt sign resign him thats too much for a 40-50 pt guy

gotta say he hasnt been impressing me and especially if its true and hes asking for 5 million + per season he has to go in my opinion ... i was just thinking with boston getting screwed over the iginla trade they must be desperate to make a move
anyone think we can pull off a filpulla for a 1st rd pick and jordan caron? we can then use the pick in a trade for a defensemen and not lose our own 1st round pick ... if we do pick up a bouwemeester or yandle we wont be able to resign flppula at 5 million when we gotta resign howard etc..
thoughts?

Don't they say every year it's a deep draft? And even when they don't, I'm sure guys picked late still have become very good players. There are no sure things in the draft unless you're picking top 10. Maybe even top 5 or top 3.
Wings won't be picking that low anyway, so it doesn't make sense to abandon this year for a mid-to-late 1st round pick. Playoffs are a crapshoot and no matter what the pessimists on this board say, if the Wings get in and get hot, they could make a run.
mid to late first round pick??? if we dont make the playoffs theres a good chance we can be in the top 10 and every team that doesnt get in technically has a shot at winning the first overall pick
If bettman fixed it for us like he did for pittsburgh when he got them crosby and we by the fluke of god somehow got seth jones wed be right back on top and gold on defense for next 10-20 years and even outside jones theres drouin, mackinnon, nichushkin and barkov that are considered a cant miss im sure outside of the top 5 im sure there are other good players but i wont pretend to know who they are
