#2613235 The "enigmatic" Tomas Jurco: A Thread

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 05 June 2015 - 08:40 AM

I expect good things from jurco next season ... Needs a bigger role than being a checker and I'm sure Blashill will give it to him

Wings need to get rid of some bodies and make room for some kids like jurco to shine

#2613019 Retire Sergei Fedorovís Jersey Immediately

Yeah, NYI and St. Louis were real all star teams when he played there. Still solid numbers, first year in NYI they made the playoffs for the first time in years. Saved the Wings asses during the 2008 cup run as well, and was instrumental in them making the Finals the following year. Some people will just never give the guy the credit he deserves because he played on some great Wings teams. Oh well.

He's just not as great as you think he is ... If he played his whole career in nyi and slt he would of won nothing ... Look back at the wings lineups during those glory years ... Truly remarkable stuff , never needed a superstar goalie to win with that lineup

Now imagine if we had hasek in nets as well from 93-05 how many cups we'd have

What really gets me is how people are praising osgood so much and yet s***ting on federov and he's the one who's had the way better career in detroit , only cause he chased some money along the way

I'm really not trying to turn this into an Osgood debate, but it looks like it's already heading that way.

Using the fact that Osgood "took advantage of all-star teams" against him completely ignores the fact that guys like Fuhr, Sawchuk, Plante, and Smith ALL played for dynasty teams as well.

I don't see anybody arguing that Grant Fuhr's banner should be pulled down because he played with Messier and Gretzky.

Those guys you mentioned were also the best goalies of there time and won vezina's and conn smythe's, in nets for many cups

Brodeur roy hasek and others were miles away better than osgood

Osgood holds all the Red Wings goalie playoff records, I think if Fed's jersey get's retired, Osgood's should too.

Ya cause he played for hall of fame teams ... Hawks win the cup again and maybe a 4th you retire corey crawford a jersey in Chicago? Come on .... Ozzie looks like a good guy but he was an average goalie who was fortunate to be in the teams detroit had ... He never had to steal a series for the wings

Can you do one for Dandenault also?

Dandenault gets one ... So does gilchrist

Still only 22 and was used more as a checker ... Still think he can at least get around 20 goals

To soon to give up on jurco ... I think Blashill will get him going again

Can't believe tampa made it to the finals after we gave them the series with a goalie who's greatly overrated

And I didn't want Chicago to win, wanted a new winner .... The 2 teams I didn't want to win ... I can honestly say I'll be watching the nba finals hoping lebron loses over watching the nhl finals this year

#2609849 should mrazek get #1 tag next season

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 23 May 2015 - 09:18 AM

Just realized M-raz is still leading goalies in shutouts for the playoffs with 2. Not too shabby.

Kids the real deal ... Just hope when we trade howard it won't be when his value is at an all time low ... Finally got something we can afford to trade that can actually be worth something

We always seem to lose players for nothing

Athanasiou larkin mantha could be dynamite + pulkkinen being a scoring machine ... I like Grand Rapids chances

Agreed.

At times Helm was a force to reckon with in the post season...He's finally turning into the player that we had hoped he'd become, but then again - as bad as it sounds - maybe his trade value is at a all time high, and what we get in return will fill a few holes?

I doubt he can fetch a lot ... A 2nd + a mid level if were really lucky? He's mostly a bottom 6 guy who can fill In and play top 6 ... And he's a playoff guy who we can never have enough of

In my eyes when zetts 40 and gone (unless he pulls a jagr and keeps performing well enough to play on and on ) helm and abdelkader will be the team leaders to help carry the next wave of wings stars

Basically he will at least be in the AHL come fall. Hoping he makes the Wings roster though. He showed he can play important minutes against high end talent already. Would love to see him get a shot centering the third line.

I just wanna see him develop into a 60-80 pt guy and just don't want us to get all excited and rush him in and go against our ways ... Thinking 1 year ahl is good enough for him to learn .... We'll see what he does in the playoffs

Larkin mantha athanasiou line would be sick

Helm to Toronto?
Larkin 3rd line c?!?!?!
This is the only thing I can think of that would make a trade matter for Larkin.

Helm isn't going anywhere , seriously doubt it he can play the wing as well and has a ton of speed

Tell Babs when he comes calling for glendening to pay up a 1st or take a hike lol

Sports net is actually showing the wings presser for whoever wants to see it

#2608296 Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 18 May 2015 - 10:08 AM

Given that Babcock is calling other teams I'm thinking he was set on leaving detroit and was surprised no one was asking to talk to him

Personally hope we just move on and give Blashill a shot

#2608039 Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

Truth. The franchise is sitting in a very good position because of Holland and Babs. I just don't get the whole "needing a fresh face" when the roster has almost completely turned over in the last 3 years. It's not like it has been the same roster for 10 years. Also, after watching that TSN interview, it is sounding like he is leaning towards staying. Seems like he just wants to talk it over with family once he gets back from the World Championships.

If babs stays will I be upset? No ... I won't be in an uproar for him coming back ... My preference is we go a different route , preferably with jeff Blashill

My personal opinion is he's a good coach but overrated ... Those gold medals for me don't count as the teams were stacked full of all star players

From 2010-2015 we haven't done anything in the playoffs and we had hank and pav from ages 29-35? ... It's not like there career was done and over with

And as for the franchise sitting pretty I'd put that more on holland for not panicking and trading away top prospects and out scouting staff for always refilling the prospect pool with real good talent

Players will always escape the top 10 in drafts that will be stars in the nhl ... We just have to find them

I believe in our scouts

#2607900 Free agents this off season

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 14 May 2015 - 10:42 PM

I agree with this but his post was basically stating Sheahan is the superior player right now. Just had to set it straight that it's not the case.

The way I see it is Z can't center a line anymore. he needs to just focus on playing wing. Soderberg isn't some scrub, he's a useful NHL player that could help us in the 2nd line center spot imo, more so then Sheahan right now. With half decent linemates (he played 3rd line in Boston) I think he can get 50+ points and play a solid two way game.

This all depends on Salary and term but for 2-3 years at 4 - 4.5 million I don't see how you say no. Ship out Weiss and Anderson, LTIR Franzen. Sign Petry / Franson.

Z - D - Abby
Nyquist - Soderberg - Tatar
Pulk - Sheahan - Jurco / Helm
Miller - Glen - Jurco / Helm

If we don't sign soderberg or anyone top 3 lines

Zetterberg datsyuk abdelkader
Pulkkinen sheahan Tatar
Nyquist helm jurco
? Glendening Ferraro

The ? On the 4th line is if we could add a big bodied 4th liner who can just hit and bruise opponents that's what I'd love to add but I don't see it happening .... And I just noticed we both dont have Franzen , although his future is uncertain

Looking above I could totally see us trading nyquist in a trade for a top dman and we'd still be ok upfront and still have youth

We got some big boys ....not against adding any forwards if they were to good to pass up ... Just noticed we drafted 4 dmen in the last 3 years ... We need to draft 4 dmen in this years draft alone
