#2660449 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 16 March 2016 - 01:34 PM

There's talk that 25% of salary has to be made available for the expansion

Also something about first year players or 2nd year players could be safe ...also players in Grand Rapids who are signed prospects could be available? So much nonsense out there

Also players who are to be available for expansion have to be signed for the 2017-2018 season so I think we're safe with pavel ... All he has to do is sign after the draft and were good with a spot

Heard teams will sign players to 2 year deals this summer to make them available for the expansion team, and expect a lot of trades at the day of the draft

Forwards I'd protect

Assuming pavel signs after

Mantha Larkin athanasiou zetterberg abdelkader nyquist Tatar

Kronwall dekeyser ouellet/marchenko

All that could change depending on the rules with first and 2nd year players and who's dealt or not ... Could see a nyquist being dealt at the day of the draft , and I'd rather keep a young dman than 6 million dollar green

Wow ... f***en embarrassing

We just threw away 2 points

Can we just call up mantha already? All this skill on the team and nobody is scoring , I'm fed up ... Call up mantha , bench Tatar and/or nyquist ... Where the hell they been?

Ridiculous f***

Great flyers won and are now 2 points away from the wings ... We keep playing 500 hockey we won't be making the playoffs , time to wake the f*** up

First thing I think we should do is bring back the Larkin zetterberg abdelkader line , maybe that'll get Larkin going again ... Mantha needs to be called up for some games ASAP , he won't be the reason we get in alone but if he can help us get a few wins with that shot he needs to be here ..and it'll actually give pavel someone with a lethal shot on his wing for once

Zetterberg Larkin abdelkader

Tatar Datsyuk mantha

Jurco athanasiou nyquist

Glendening sheahan helm

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Frk becomes an NHL player, just not a top line player... next season... Also, both Pulkkinen and Frk as well as teammates have said that Frk's shot is actually harder than Pulkkinen's, just not quite as accurate. I don't think it's that bold of a prediction to say that he could be a third line power play specialist at the NHL level, I'm just not sure if we will have a spot for him...

Think some of these kids have to get playing time opportunities though so we could see what they have before we write them off, look how long Tatar and nyquist had to wait... And they only got opportunities when we had injuries at a rapid rate

I'd really wanna see Anthony mantha up here for 2-3 games at least to see where he's at and so he can get a taste of the NHL so he knows what to expect , and maybe motivate him even more to hit gym harder in the off season ... Same with sproul and others

Easy to say prospects aren't what we expected them to be ... But we also leave them to rot in the minors for 4 years without a taste and when th finally come up they barely play

Nice to see jurco getting more playing time out there now and making nice plays , think he's a good one just needs more consistent ice time and opportunity

And Anthony mantha scored again :)

Martin frk got another 2 goals as well, kid was on the verge of probably being let go at the end of this season (thank god he didn't wait till next season to play like this)

I was also surprised to see frk on the ice to get the open net goal, guess the coach trusts him to be on the ice in the last minute

Holland will most likely be a buyer at the deadline. Or else we might seriously see a highly thought of prospect be lost on waivers. We have the peices to go huge at the deadline

I'd be scared of holland throwing in someone I'm personally high on for a rental

Mantha athanasiou bertuzzi holmstrom svechnikov up front for me I'd really wanna keep unless your telling me were getting a Seth Jones/Roman josi type in return (rather give a nyquist in a package deal, which is ironic considering my username)

Doubt were gonna lose a highly thought of prospect on waivers .... Only one I can think of is jurco, which I can't see with Blashill being high on , think we'd get rid of Miller before jurco with him being only 23

Part of me wants mantha called up and part me doesn't

Mantha is doing awesome, we should let him continue to dominate and gain confidence....Other part of me thinks bring up this big body who can skate and can score to play with datsyuk

Hank has his own kid in Larkin, and pavel has Richards(who is an upgrade on Weiss, but personally not high on) and helm who's a really good 3rd and 4th liner ... We're wasting datsyuk's and zetterbergs last few yrs , and what other forward are we going to get on the trade market with the upside of mantha?

I remember when we went to the finals in 08 and 09 we had 2 young kids ... Abdelkader and helm ... Maybe this time we got Larkin and mantha?

And who knows if mantha comes up and dominates maybe we can use a few pieces for a dman ?

Or maybe we just recreate the 2 kids with the old goat line and call up aa and make it a line of

Athanasiou datsyuk mantha?

Getting carried away sorry guys... Guess I answered my own question .... Bring up mantha! Take advantage of hank and pav being here , mantha has everything to make it

Watched the whole game , Mantha was f***en awesome

Anyone who thinks he won't have a good future in Detroit hasn't been watching him play

Mantha has been one of the Griffins' best players every single night, only bested by Athanasiou (and Jurco when he was down). He's been keeping his feet moving away from the puck, making smart decisions with the puck, and has just been snake bitten. Early on in the season, he just could not catch a break, every opportunity (many were self created, using his speed and body to shield the puck) was negated, whether it be a huge save by the goaltender, or hitting the post, nothing was going his way. You can tell lately he has been second guessing himself, and a few grade A scoring chances, he has passed the puck off to a teammate. He had at least four 2 on 1 / 2 on 0 breaks with Athanasiou over the past few games and Athanasiou would have the puck and try to set up Mantha for the goal, but Mantha would immediately send it back, and Athanasiou scored on a couple but also missed on a couple, one in particular, he just didn't look like he was expecting the pass back. So the only thing I can think of which would be somewhat of a  logical reason for Nelson to scratch him, is to put Frk on that line, who he knows isn't shy about shooting every opportunity he gets, and maybe send some sort of message to Mantha, that he needs to be the finisher on that line, not the passer. Athanasiou is a great playmaking center, when he sends it your way, you better bury it...
I still don't like the decision because he could have taken Mantha off that line without taking him out of the lineup by simply taking Cleary or Campbell out. Either way, I hope whatever the reason, Mantha gets back in on Saturday and keeps playing the way he's been playing all season. The points will come for sure...

Ya I'm thinking he's just sending a message ... I'm not worried about mantha + there's some guys that for some reason have better numbers in the NHL than ahl ...mantha has all the tools, abilities, size, skating, shot that if he plays with a Larkin/athanasiou in Detroit he will produce

It's not like mantha is the only guy having problems this year ... Doesn't bertuzzi have 1 goal? Nosek 1?

Maybe the problem is the coach , he did a disaster job in Edmonton and Grand Rapids started like 1-9? Maybe we're winning despite him

Could be wrong but I'd say the best players from the 5-6 games I seen and stats are mostly dmen with the exception of athanasiou ... Besides Andreas and the vets the forwards are doing nothing

And to be honest I got no interest in the vets I'd be more concerned with trying to get the next wave of hopefuls lighting it up , not the tangredi's of the team

#2641299 Bummer, Miller & Pulkkinen out a while

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 04 December 2015 - 07:56 PM

We need to focus less on one player and root for the team as a whole.
The Tatar- Sheahan - Nyquist line has been one of our best. Blashill personally thinks it IS the best. (per his interview today). So that's not going to split.
Richards is useless on the 4th line - he would get demolished sooner or later.
Jurco has experience on the 4th line.
Blash is using his head to do the best for his entire unit. Not just one guy. I like Jurco believe me.
But this team doesn't revolve around him. We need to win games. And to be honest. Our offense has been damn good lately.

Richards has been pretty useless ... Our offence has been good, nothing wrong with getting jurco going and giving us 3 good lines +helm glendening Andersson can do a good job on the 4th

Anyways the way things are going wouldn't be surprised to see jurco gone during this season or dealt in the off season... Playing on the 4th line isnt going to do anything ....+athanasiou and Callahan can be called up at anytime

Hope I'm wrong but I think his days are numbered

#2641292 Bummer, Miller & Pulkkinen out a while

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 04 December 2015 - 06:34 PM

His first season up when we were decimated with injuries he spent the majority of his time with sheahan and Tatar, and they were a dominant third line.
They kept the opposing team hemmed in their own zone the majority of the time and they were being praised left and right, then the playoffs rolled around and babs broke them up and didn't try them back together once despite us struggling.
I was praying they'd keep those three together because the chemistry they had was unreal, and they really haven't been back together since. I don't know what's up.
I guess the best we can hope for is during the time that pulks/miller is out Jurco plays too good for them to scratch him again.

He needs to play with someone else other than glendening and Andersson

We should be trying to get him going after his ahl stint went so well rather than 2 guys with one goal who will likely be gone next year

The way the lines are now , bottom 6 I'd like to see

Helm Larkin jurco

Andersson Richards glendening

Or put jurco with countryman Tatar

Tatar Larkin jurco .... That could be a special line .... For now anyways he's on the 4th so I wouldn't be expecting much on the scoreboard

Surely you are being sarcastic.  Half a second?  We're not talking about Mitch Callahan here.  Tomas Jurco has over 100 NHL games under his belt.

How many of those were on the 4th line with grinders?? Kids got talent , how about giving him 10 games In a row with a Larkin,Tatar, nyquist, hank or pav?

We're clearly trying to make him a grinding forward on the 4th ... If this continues he will be go this yr or next, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a more of offensive role in another team

Ya those are two pretty long term injuries. Give jurco a good chance to prove himself

Ya prove himself on a 4th line with glendening and Andersson

I don't understand Blashill , praises jurco .... Sends him down gets 1st star of the week after dominating there , comes back and gets scratched after one game

No he gets another chance .... On the 4th line with 2 guys with no hockey skill ...don't get it

Larkin is with helm who scored his first goal on a giveaway/open net and richards who has 0 goals .... Think it's safe to say Richards won't be here next year and helm will likely be gone as well, jurco should be with Larkin next game

I understand it's the ahl, but jurco dominated there at 20-21, went back down and dominated yet again,it's not like he's some ahl veteran .... Blashill needs to give him some real linemates for 5-15 games

Sadly this is jurco's last stand

#2639931 Larkin for ...

Posted by nyqvististhefuture on 28 November 2015 - 09:24 AM

Not trading larkin for anybody at this point, if hes producing the way he is now imagine in 2-3 yrs how good he can be ...he'll be one of the next wave of wings players to lead the way

He's also 19 where as some of the names I saw being mentioned like Tavares, toews etc ... Are 7-8 yrs older ... If we're lucky we got Dylan for the next 20 yrs
