The question I asked was based on LeftWinger saying he wanted the Wings to sign some depth players instead of resigning Alfie. Suter and Backes are not UFA so they cannot be signed. Plus, neither would be considered as "depth", and neither would fit under the cap.
My tongue is never far from my cheek, cowboy.
I think Kopitar and Weber are better fits. Kopitar could center our 3rd line if Helm is injured again.
i.e. I still can't stand Weber and just want an excuse to have Backes as a Wing.
And at *IF* Herlmer is hurt again...don't you know that someone's dad's grandpa's chiropractor said Herlmer is a whiny piss baby?! GET WITH THE TIMES MAN!
Saying you wouldn't trade Yzerman for Gretzky is a lot like saying you wouldn't trade Ray Bourque for Bobby Orr. Sure he's a good player, but you're getting the best player in the history of the game (at his position) while he's still in his prime. Of course you make that trade.
But that's why I'm not a GM
Well that and a plethora of other reasons, I suppose...
100 times out of a 100 I would decline to trade Stevie. Even for The Great One. Stevie was our heart and soul, and brought so much more to this team than just points or defensive capabilities. He was my hero growing up, and while I can't say I wouldn't have still been a Wings fan, boy those years would have felt different for me.
If I had to guess, Detroit might have been able to trade Gallant/Klima + Joe Murphy + more cash than LA.
Aw man I can't wait until they do one of those for Hampus Melen. Then we can have a Hampus Melen thread, and I can get a Hampus Melen jersey to wear to games at Hampus Melen Arena in honor of our new captain Hampus Melen. The future sounds amazing!
I just don't really understand why he gets as much criticism as he does for what are usually very minor things.
I do. People just don't like to admit it.
I am in no way saying that the people who dislike him here at LGW do so for race-related reasons, but the reality is that prejudice is, unfortunately, alive and well within the hockey community. Does he have a bit of moxie? Sure. But if he were a white Canadian *some* people wouldn't look twice at his actions or have a problem with his "attitude." I don't think there is anything over the top about P.K.'s actions, and he is a young kid who will continue to mature.
Mods, feel free to delete if you think this will stir s*** or incite politics discussions, but I felt it needed to be said.
