#2333055 Winter Classic Ticket Holders, What are you going to do?

Posted by BottleOfSmoke on 30 October 2012 - 04:57 PM

So if the Winter Classic gets cancelled what are you going to do?

Realistically? Ugly cry. Picture the raging kid from the internet video where he tries to shove the remote control up his ass, only with less penetration. That'll be me. Two middle fingers to this lockout, boys and girls.

NHLPA has requested to meet this week, but refuse to meet on NHL terms.

NHL refuses to meet without precondition.

Our season is going up in smoke as the days go on.

"@DarrenDreger: NHL remains firm, willing to negotiate with the PA by only working off NHL offer tabled last Tues. NHL wants next meeting to be an end pt."

News flash: this isn't negotiating! Both sides shoot negotiation in the face before they even get in a room together. Nothing is going to get done this way. They need to stop sniping at each other through the media and put on their f$&@ing big boy pants and sit down at a table together for more than 90 minutes. Bring in a mod if you have to, but stop tattling on the other guy for being the meanie.

#2331843 Who was the better Wing/Player? Yzerman or Lidstrom

Posted by BottleOfSmoke on 16 October 2012 - 09:33 PM

I think you are asking two unique question here, with different answers.

Who was the better Wing? Yzerman
Who was the better player? Lidstrom

I totally agree with this. On pure hockey ability and skill, Lidstrom comes out on top. But the best Wing? Yzerman showed up for this team in any manner that they needed him consistently and reliably for over twenty years. Lidstrom was a great leader, but Stevie was The Captain. Love them both, and am honored that I got to grow up watching them play for my team.

I wish they would just drop the all-star break. It's as worthless as teats on a boar hog.

LOL around here (aka in our house) we say as useless as t*ts on a shovel. Which, I agree, is what the all star break is if we can salvage a complete season without it.

Wow...very awesome of the team to allow the men's families to have their day.

The Saginaw Spirit are also playing right now as is U of M for those that are interested.

The NHL owns the Coyotes, so I think that actually makes it 6 owners since Bettman likely controls that vote.

That s*** is so shady.

Wasn't he just saying how he wanted to hang around and see things through or did I just make that up? All I know is that this lockout is seriously pissing me off, far more than the other two I've experienced. I'm so over it.

#2330497 ESPN-KHL Deal in the Works?

Posted by BottleOfSmoke on 02 October 2012 - 03:07 PM

Hockey? On ESPN? Now that's a blast from the past!

I actually used to hate when the games were aired on ESPN because I couldn't get my Ken and Mickey fix...wasn't it on UPN50 back then? God I'm getting old!

The effects that a lockout could have on Detroit's local economy: http://www.mlive.com...gs - MLive.com)

After hitting rock-bottom throughout the most recent recession and auto crisis, it would really be a shame to watch the local businesses that are helping to rebuild and revitalize Detroit suffer. I wonder how other cities will fare.

I was just coming here to post this. Does anyone remember/have a cite for how much revenue the city of Detroit lost during the last lockout? I remember it was bad. I love the city so much, and it breaks my heart to think of all the "little people" that are affected by the lockout.

#2329676 Report: NHL may cancel Winter Classic by November if no CBA deal

So much for my excitement about actually getting tickets. This whole things sucks. I would think the league would want to do everything in their power to make sure the Classic happens, given that they will be making asstruckloads of money. They're shooting themselves in the foot, and shooting all of us in the face.

#2329615 Jimmy D Speaks out on Lockout, fined $250k

That entire article made me feel like punching someone in the crotch. I don't know who that someone is yet, but boy howdy is that someone gonna get it when I figure it out...

#2329417 Any NHL'ers from your home town?

Posted by BottleOfSmoke on 19 September 2012 - 01:35 PM

I went to college with Stan Bowman and Al Arbour's daughter.

Stan Bowman and Al Arbour have a daughter together?! I never would have guessed there was something going on between those two...

In more on topic news, no one famous ever came from my home town. NO ONE.

apparently the iihf isnt approving nhl players transfer cards that is required to play in the iihf leagues including the khl. they bring up how the nhl has "pressured" the khl and has a strong hold on them influence wise so this may be a tatic from the league to prevent its locked out players from playing hockey in general. things turning.into a giant gongshow here boys

I was just coming here to post this. Definitely interesting...and by interesting I mean childish and ridiculous.

@Proteautype: THIS JUST IN: A fleet of New York City firemen have been dispatched to fight a raging pants fire at NHL headquarters.

Normally I think Proteau is kind of a d**che (though that doesnt keep me from agreeing with him occasionally), but this made me LOL.
