#2601172 ECQF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 4, at Lightning 0 (DET leads series, 3-2)

Posted by The Greek on 26 April 2015 - 08:24 AM

If he doesn't do well in those starts, it's a problem.  I'm thrilled with the way Mrazek has played so far, but when you see what's happened to guys like Hammond and Darling, I'm not going to anoint him to the Hall of Fame just yet.

I have little doubt that Howard will do well. By then he'll have a had more than enough time to fully recover from his injury. As for Mrazek, you're going to have to find where I said he belongs in the hall of fame and point it out to me. Regardless, he doesn't have to be a hall of gamer to be a starter.

Nyquist is skating a lot better last game and this game but he is still fighting the puck a bit. I feel all he needs to do is score and he will get going. He will get one.

Good call.

I never understood the decision to stick with the same lineup. This is pretty much the same game, just with different puck luck.

#2595585 Kings' Jarret Stoll arrested for cocaine possession

Posted by The Greek on 18 April 2015 - 12:12 PM

Sleepwalker is not wrong. Chewing on coca leaf is no more stimulating than drinking coffee. Powdered cocaine is obviously stronger than caffeine, but the danger really comes from the adulterants, not the stimulating effects. Pure powdered cocaine is no more dangerous than any of the thousands of legal stimulants available in stores. Either way, even if one is exponentially more dangerous, it's downright silly that we try to control what people put in their bodies. It is the very definition of a victimless crime.

Edit: powdered caffeine has recently been approved for human consumption, and it is way stronger than what you find in coffee, so the comparison is actually pretty apt.

This isn't going to be a very fun forum for the next few days.

It hasn't been fun for a while.

#2588770 Do Red Wings fans deserve better?

Posted by The Greek on 03 April 2015 - 03:49 PM

23 straight playoff appearances, four stanly cups, six conference championships, several hall of famers, and we make threads like this. I'm going to say no.

I forgot: great ownership who spends to the cap, is building a new arena (with our help), and constantly has events showing fan appreciation.

#2587850 Opinion: Petr Mrazek should be starting Game 1

Posted by The Greek on 01 April 2015 - 05:22 PM

Howard is an Allstar, Mrazek as a top 5 is a huge maybe.

I agree about Howard. As for Mrazek, it depends on your definition of "huge." If you subtract the games in which he's been pulled, his stats are unreal, which leads me to conclude that it is lack of consistency that is holding him back.

Mrazek is a carbon copy of Howard. Streaky and terrible in shoot outs.
But I get it... Mrazek is shiny and new ooooo ahhhhh

You can't say that. When howard was at the stage of his career that Mrazek is at now, it wasn't even clear that Howard would be an nhl starter. Although I think Howard Is underrated, Mrazek's ceiling is higher now than Howard's ever was. Mrazek's only real issue is consistency. If he takes care of that, he'll be a top 5 goalie.

Like I said in the GDT, I can man up and call Petr out when he plays bad too

Be careful to not hurt your back while carrying that cross.

Are you struggling? Is your team in a funk? Not to worry! The Detroit Red Wings are on your schedule. LMAO. So this trash team gets a lucky win yesterday and goes back to their usual self again. Just like that flukey win against the Pens when everyone though they were "back." Sorry ass team can't win two games in a row. TANK IT.

Like clockwork

Wings can't lose because we have the best coach in hockey. It's obvious that he has meticulously prepared this team to play flawlessly.

You do realize his dad died. If this is a result of his poor preperation, I'd say babs has a damn good excuse.

Ill ask you the same sort of question I asked SimonSin on page two of this GDT. Would you be sad if Jimmy went on a rampage and took this team deep into the playoffs?  Would you rather be right, or would you rather the team had success regardless of your predictions? Obviously youd love Howard to terribad himself out of a job and for Mrazek to win the Conn Smyth. Win-win for you. BUT, if you had to chose, what would it be? LeftWinger the prophet, or a deep playoff run?

THIS. LW is far from the only one who does it. It seems that many people would rather be right than for the team to do well. Moreover, the vitriol Howard faces is so unnecessary. People take such great pleasure in watching him struggle just so they can say "told you so." It's really messed up when you think about it. They seem to take such pleasure in watching harm befall his career. This by no means absolves the overzealous Howard supporters who do the same thing every time Mrazek has a bad game. If people like this really cared about the wings, they'd realize that it's in their best interest for the wings to have two capable goaltenders.

Those who dogged Howard last year were silent when he was playing at an all star level. Since he's been back from injury, they have been all too eager to claim vindication.

#2576591 Once again blowing a lead and giving up 3 goals

Posted by The Greek on 01 March 2015 - 04:31 PM

No no, the old Wings, when they gave up the lead, they just quit playing and allowed the other team to win.

Exactly, that's what this team needs... Wait. What?

#2576521 Going To My First Wings Game - Suggestions?

Posted by The Greek on 01 March 2015 - 01:01 PM

It's not bad if you go upstairs to the individual urinals

No. Peeing at the trough is part of the experience. I personally hate them, but I wish they would install them at the new arena. Think of what a mindf*** it must be for the opposing fans. They must think we're animals.

Is it just me, or is this game boring as hell? I don't mind low scoring games, but this is just tedious.
