Big Buff would help the PP and help keep the flies off. I guarantee Kane doesn't even look sideways at Zetterberg if Byfuglien's out there too.

Yeah no doubt. That would be a hilarious match up. When does Buffalo play Winnipeg?

The fourth line was getting offensive zone starts. I think our biggest problem with scoring is not giving minutes to the right guys

I'm not counting on him for offence, but his breakout passes and defensive play is great. Definitely a good NHLer at this point and he should stay in the lineup. He'll be a good replacement for Q and he's cheap with a lot of upside. With more experience we could see him get more physical. You could see he reads the play well and will step and break up a lot of plays in the neutral zone.

Beautiful pass

So is Pulkinnen being showcased for a trade to make room for Jurco? God I hope so...

Pulkinnen<<<

I don't hate him, but I hate the idea we're designing our offence around him and we wonder why we're struggling to score. We have two proven 30 goal scorers (pretty much) and they're moved down the lineup in favour of a rookie who still has less goals than them both

That's why there was the push by management to have Z on Datsyuk's wing in recent history. The extra demands of playing center do seem to take away from his goal production and many say it wears him out for the playoffs.

I think he's looked really good this year. I'm not too worried about him not scoring as long as Larkin's there to finish. He's still leading the team in points. If Larkin looks able to center the 2nd line, it could be good to reunite Dats and Z if we want Z to score.

I think Larkin would be centering his own line already if he was decent at face offs

I think Datsyuk and Richards have the right idea on offense. Not too cute but quick bang bang plays. And what ever happened to us scoring on deflections and screens, rebound goals even. There's been a handful all year. Have we scored from the point all year?

And Z has scored 2 goals in like 45 games. That is ridiculous. He has stopped making a conscious effort to get pucks to the net and it's showing statistically. We're counting on a rookie and a grinder to consistently score on our first line

the A is a complete different monster. Everytime Pulk went down last season it seemed like he scored 100 goals, then up here he had a hard time bringing that with him. Jurco will be the same. Right now he is too good for the A, and scoring at will, but when he comes back, even with Larkin type minutes, it just won't translate...i hope I'm wrong though.

Pulkinnen is putting up decent numbers in the NHL but he's not a top six forward yet. Both him and Jurco should be able to produce on the third line. Now if only we had two proven goal scoring wingers to put in the top six

When your best set up men don't play with a goal scorer<<<<

Richards-Datsyuk-Tatar see! I just made that line infinitely better

Larkin-Z-Nyqvist There! I did it again

If the top six doesn't look somewhat like this for the next game then I will seriously question Blashill's judgement

Agreed. They were on in OT together as well. they don't work together. Blash needs to stop putting them together. And Pulkkinen needs to get back on the 3rd line.

Tatar and Nyqvist have been unquestionably our go to guys offensively for two straight years and now suddenly we have acquired the luxury of playing them on our third line because our scoring depth is unbelievable? Blash is wrong on this one. If Tatar and Nyqvist were being set up by Dats and Z and getting more minutes we would have won this game.

I agree with moving Helm up to the top 9. I've being saying this since he found his legs. He's the only reason that 4th line has been so great. I think Blash has blinders for the players he wants to see do well and not recognizing whose actually making things happen on the ice. This thing he has with Pulkinnen is 10 times more frustrating for me then Babs with Abby and Glendening

Boston is the highest scoring team in the league with their personnel... I think our coach can muster up a little more offence with this roster. Would help if our highest scorers weren't treated like depth guys... And why has Abby become an unmoveable staple of the first line? He has no fine touch and he's never going to beat a goalie unless the puck deflects off of him. At least try it out, Blash has moved better players than him down the lineup

Jurco is good. Lot of people going to be eating crow on here.

People acting like it would be some miracle for him to be a regular NHLer... Getting pretty ridiculous. I think he can step in and be a competent third liner and add a lot of size. Going forward with age he can move his way into the top six pretty easily, if not oh well. Hes already a third liner imo

#2639031 Who and What are the Detroit Red Wings?

Posted by joesuffP on 23 November 2015 - 03:16 PM

Wings just have to get really lucky. Like Ekbald refusing to resign with Panthers. Could you imagine? We'd have an amazing core all around the same age. In 2 years...

Nyquist-Larkin-Ladd
Mantha-AA-Abby
Jurco-Z-Pulkinnen
Helm-Glen-Bertuzzi

DD-Ekbald
Kronwall-Green
Ericsson-Marchenko

He still has a lot to prove but saying his career is over because of back injuries or his bad work ethic is just stupid. He's 22 years old

Good thing Larkin came back or Glendening would have been on the top line. Blash has blinders on for this guy, in what world would a line of Glendening-Z-Abby ever work
