#2558026 Wings great Gordie Howe resting after 'serious stroke'

Posted by frankgrimes on 19 December 2014 - 11:01 PM

This is one of the best things I've read all day. All week. I don't even hardly care about the Wings loss tonight after reading this. WOOHOO! SCIENCE, *******!

Great news heck this is so much more important than any on ice stuff. Your are tough as nails Mr. Hockey may you be here for a long time

#2557032 Where were team-mates on the Smith headshot

So much truculence in this thread.

Nothing wrong with that, it's still a shame that nobody stood up for Smith and adding someone other teams fear is never the worst idea in the world.

Also Johnny Hockey, Monahan and the other Flames youngstars can go outthere and do what they want, because they know a bunch of no nonsense guys are having their back. I disagree with a lot of things that Burke says, but when it comes to truculence, beligerence and pugnacity the guy is right. I'm also not going to say sorry for liking something thats been part of hockey since forever and enjoying a good scrap, hard hit and some rough stuff after all this is hockey and not soccer where so called athletes are acting like ******* if someone touches them ...

#2557030 slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 December 2014 - 05:54 AM

Hopefully his contract will get voided and they send his wife beating disgusting animal ass back to Russia.what a douchebag

Now while I'm not defending him this might be too far.
I've always been a firm believer people deserve a second chance. He should be suspended for the full year. Then like NFL if there is a second incident banned for life.
Rather someone does something major or minor once is an accident twice is a habit or whatever the saying is.
So after a long suspension and after jail time counseling etc etc he shoukd get a second and FINAL chance.

Animals aren't human dogs aren't getting a second chance after they've bitten someone so why should another animal...

Thanks just for the laugh voted for McGrattan

#2555210 All-Star voting

Posted by frankgrimes on 10 December 2014 - 07:13 AM

Haven't seen a thread on this (hope I'm not breaking any rules).. Of course I don't need to say this but just a friendly reminder for everyone to vote for our Red Wings for the all star game! Personally I've throwing a lot of votes for Zetterberg as he is our captain and is one of the most underrated players in the NHL and truly deserves to get a spot after carrying the team for two years straight since Lidstrom departed. I know Z is on a bit of a cold streak, but aside from that he needs more recognition from the league! We all know Pavs already making that roster!

I don't even know where to vote for that thing so that gives a good impression of how much I care about the ASG. The skills and hardest shot competition is nice everything else meh. I'd rather see none of the Wings there, give them a nice vacation and focussing on the stuff that really counts.

But I like the Brawlgame-Idea at least it would be entertaining to watch.

#2555032 It's gotta be asked....What's up with Hank?

Posted by frankgrimes on 09 December 2014 - 04:13 AM

The guy has had surgery in the summer and for sure he is going to say "everything is fine" but recovering from back surgeries takes time and so far I'm impressed that he is still producing. As long as he gets his other gear when it matters the most, he the beard should be fine

#2554781 Oilers schedule presser tomorrow

Posted by frankgrimes on 08 December 2014 - 07:09 AM

I agree with you, they have had top pick after top pick. Its not that I want Edmonton to necessarily get that pick, I just don't want it to be Florida or Buffalo (though Florida is surprising me this year, and don't seem to be in the basement). Edmonton just seems like the most likely team to take it away from them. I guess I'll hope for Carolina lol.

I have no hate for Buffalo and I would love seeing them getting McDavid. Finally the team has a great owner, the fan-support is still huge - given on where the team is ! - and they are doing this rebuild thing right. The Oilers in my mind have had more than enough first overalls and still couldn't get the job done that's on their management.

Also I don't want to see McDavid in a soon to be relocated/sold market the guy should focus on hockey because he is incredible fun to watch and ridiculously talented.

#2554778 Tomas Tatar Appreciation Thread

Posted by frankgrimes on 08 December 2014 - 06:58 AM

Let's get back on track here and stick with the topic, which is the Tatar appreciation thread, not the Weiss debate thread.

I didn't honestly expect this kind of start out of Tatar, I think a lot of us were focused on Nyquist emerging as the young goal scorer this season, but it's been a pleasant surprise to see Tatar scoring out there as much as he has been. I hope it keeps up and he stays consistent, and it's been exciting to watch this far.

Obviously I thought both (Tatar + the Goose) would take a step back this year because other teams would focus more on them and shut them down but so far, both are playing really well. Tatar really exceeded my expectations good for him after what he has gone through last year.

Seriously they don't deserve McDavid such a clueless and full of their past glorydays management doesn't deserve that kind of talent (the fans do obviously). But after all the struggles and BS Buffalo had to go through pre Pegula I would be very happy seeing them getting the next generational talent. At least their management is competent and doesn't put all the blame on some ~ 20 year old players ...

disgusting

This was really something else in a bad way to sum it up:

1. it's all the players fault

2. MacTavish and company haven't been on the job long enough

3. Eakins is progressing ...ya well Krueger had 7 months ? and accomplished much morei n a shorter period of time..

Wow what a gongshow, if I were an Oilers fan I would be pissed tremendously, a presser just to say and do nothing ? thats af****** job how do these guys still have a job in the NHL (best league in the world by far).

#2554045 Kings fined $100K for allowing Slava Voynov to practice w/ team

Posted by frankgrimes on 05 December 2014 - 10:42 AM

The NHL actions against Voynov and Kings are disgusting.

And PA (what a worthless entity!) is even more disgusting now.

Ya sure an entity that's protecting workers rights and the well being of their employees is worthless unbelievable.

The NHLs action against Voynov will and should be a lot harder if he did beat up his wife I mean what kind of ***** does someone has to be to  beat up his wife. If he is that tough how about going toe toe with Caine Velasquez...If I'm the owner of the Kings and it turns out that he is guilty I would void his contract, period.

#2553733 12/4 GDT - Stars 2 at Red Wings 5

Posted by frankgrimes on 04 December 2014 - 02:25 PM

I'm with zombo, I don't even have a second favorite team let alone enjoy watching good players against the wings. I'll watch them play well against other teams.

That's ok but given some of the Wings weaknesses I love to watch other teams that bring that element to their game. Dallas may not be a hardnosed team but Benn really hits all cylinders...offensive stud, physical, grit and a hardnosed type of game and I like watching that. Do I wish to see both guys exploding against the Wings ? For sure not but I'm also not going to pretend that I don't watch other teams. Heck I even watched the Leafs thanks to Colton Orr, Frazer and Frazer McLaren I just like that type of heavy game.

it's just a matter of preferences I think, I'll always cheer for the Wings but it's no secret that some other teams are more entertaining in my mind.

#2553663 Jean Beliveau Passes at 83

Quinn, Beliveau... In less than two weeks horrible condolences and prayers to his family. Sucks even more when holidays are around the corner.
