Nobody going after Bortuzzo do that against a Calgary player and you leave the game in a different way...

#2536674 Barry Trotz Wants Ovechkin to be more like Yzerman

Posted by frankgrimes on 20 September 2014 - 07:31 PM

Ovechkin is the epitome of the lazy, one dimensional Russian of this generation. He is waiting for the puck on the powerplay and unloads his crazy one-timer. The Captain wore the Wings logo deep in his heart, the return to glory started with him, Stevie even changed his whole game just to help out the team. The guy basically played some playoff series on one leg and NEVER complained. Making him captain has been a real mistake, he isn't a leader and never will be he is a very good goalscorer but really has no other ability.

Ovechkin is what he is and he will never change the words Yzerman and Ovechkin in the same sentence are just *LOL*

I hate to say it but the only guy who is close to become a lighter Yzerman is captain serious Jonathan Toews :( also at least to me the best pure goalscorer and TEAM guy is Stammer, he never complains is already elite and keeps working his butt off to be in even better shape each year, something that can't be said about Ovechkin.

btw. the sad thing is if more Russians were like Pasha and less like like Ovechkin, Kovalchuck there wouldn't even be a russian factor in the NHL and some of them could MAYBE turn into useful two way players.

ESPN more than enough to skip the whole article

#2536546 Mantha's Injury

Posted by frankgrimes on 18 September 2014 - 08:50 PM

Sucks for the guy but I doubt he would have made the team. So let him get healthy and start in the AHL. Injuries will happen and Mantha should get a few callups here and there. Get well soon this Sucks!

#2536382 Ericsson and Alfredsson not 100%

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 September 2014 - 08:27 PM

Man, if Alfie's back is tweaked before the pre-season begins how can he possibly be considered for a contract?

I don't think that's even in consideration right now. I think the team will wait and see how all of this plays out for Alfie and if things are going well he might get signed. But really that should not be important now the important thing is Alfie getting healthy and being able to enjoy a pain free life.

#2536334 Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 September 2014 - 04:40 PM

A lot less than I thought also now it's quite clear what cost the delay - lowballing.

If the guy continues to play this well his next contract will be a huge one that's for sure if he wants to stay. Danny gave a huge hometown discount here just so he can attend the camp what a player what a person..

So now he should be good to go for the camp book him a flight + room and let's start training camp.

#2536312 Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 September 2014 - 02:46 PM

A bit off topic...

DD didn't get to spend any time with Lids - unlike Ericsson, and Kronwall - he was thrown in full speed ahead, and didn't look outta place one bit.

IMHO - he's our 2nd best Dman, and with Ericsson questionable...Well - Holland better get this kid signed.

Exactly I would go as far and say that in 2 years tops he is going to be our best defenseman if he continues his amazing progress. The problem with Holland is he is overpaying for the false guys and low balling the players he should overpay (including top UFAs :( ).

#2536265 Regner: Next year could be Babcock's last

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 September 2014 - 01:13 AM

If that's what it takes sure. Babcock has all the leverage here his salary doesn't count against the cap and his resume is unreal. I don't think Quenville is the highest paid coach, I think it's Carlyle

What has Mrazek to do with Dekeyser's negotiations?

Semin Alexander Semin? God no he is extremely talented but a lazy floater and doesn't have the right attitude plus he is heavily overpaid

Don't know anything about this guy but you can never go wrong with a PTO and be it just to push the other guys

Wow! Talk about an over-reaction lol. Maybe if training cap starts and DD is not signed this point would have merit, but at this point nobody knows what is going on behind closed doors.

Yeah and that's why I'm starting to get worried.

#2535201 Holland signs 4 year extension with wings **MOD Warning Post 130**

Posted by frankgrimes on 29 August 2014 - 06:15 PM

Frank I don't even know what to say in response to you sometimes but I can't resist...

The Bruins are not being "punished" for success or having a great goal scorer. They legally evaded the cap and deferred their bonuses to this year by choice. I suggest you do some research there...

So in your opinion... To attract free agents...we need to not do well...draft high...get some good young players...even though you just claimed no one knows how young players will ever turn out...or was that just relevant for our current prospects...whatever benefits your argument at the time I guess... OK.

Where...in Zeus' butthole...did you come up with this idea...and in what universe did that make sense...

PS. I may have had a drink...

Then stop reading it, problem solved. I don't have the nerves nor time to  explain something so obvious.

#2535198 Las Vegas rumored to get an expansion team

Posted by frankgrimes on 29 August 2014 - 06:08 PM

nashville is not a failing team, the preds attendance is starting to go up

Yeah I've read that too even with your mediocre seasons - don't  worry ours weren't much better - your attendance went up and I think your team has done a tremendous job given all the difficult circumstances. The amount of defensive talent that Nashville seems to produce is really top notch. But I still think Laviolette has been the wrong choice, his run and gun firing on all cylinders wears thin quickly.

The potential Seattle owners (Paul Allen ? ) have been on record saying that they want a NBA team first and then they are going to look at a NHL team we've had this story before and everyone saw how it turned out i.e The Thrashers. But knowing the allmighty BOG Seattle will get a team so that's that.

Las Vegas would also be very dangerous for players, referees all it takes is one serious phone call from a casino boss with connections to the mozarella side of things and the game will be decided in no time and there is nothing the NHL can do about it.

It's really unbelievable how a league can talk about expansion instead of relocation although there are already two teams which will be relocated in the not so distant future. Another team to keep a really close look on would be the Ottawa Senators their owner went from billionaire to "only" millionaire and is cutting the budget back every year and yet we hear expansion talk.

What the NHL needs would be the exact opposite put teams into markets where hockey can and has succeeded (i.e QC, Hamilton) I still can't believe why tzhe BOG is always listening to Bettman's lies and his stupid grow the game crap. The game doesn't need to grow it just needs stable markets and a great on ice product (which has been watered down since 2005 :( ).
