If Karlson can round out his defensive game, he could be one of the elite defenseman for years to come.

What a great game and an appetizer for the midday game. Watched it on my tablet and would love to rewatch it again already, Lundvist unbelievable.

Also congrats to the Fins, having your 4 best centers out and beating Russia on home-ice, while having the defending champions on the rope of a loss and making it to the final 4 is a huge accomplishment.

The most important thing is his health, I hope he takes his time and does the right thing. If that means being done for the season so be it sometimes other things (love, health) are way more important than the best game this planet has ever seen.

Get well soon captain Z

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the Lativian goalie played himself into a two way contract with this performance. There is nothing to be ashamed off facing such a hot goalie but now Canada is facing a hot goalie and a potent offense, they need their forwards to break out.

AFter seeing the heroic fight by Lativia, I'm not sure anymore that the Swiss joked.

Canadas forwards need to step it up.

Wow Sweden is really pushing it right now. Slovenia should be proud, they have under 1.000 registered hockeyplayers and are top 8 maybe 7 in their first olympic tournament.

Quarterfinal matchups:

Swe vs Slo
Fin vs Rus
USA vs Czech
Can vs Lat

Hmmm... s*** just got real.

*lol* so free tickets for USA, SWE and CAN only FIN vs Rus is a matchup between two very good teams.

#2484351 International Hockey Rivalries.

Austria - Germany
Finland - Sweden
Norway - Denmark
Russia - Canada
Slovenia - Slovakia
Canada - USA is a big rivalry but I think. Canada - Russia tops that

#2484338 NHL players will not participate in 2018 Olympics (Mod Post #99)

Posted by frankgrimes on 15 February 2014 - 11:24 PM

@reporterchris: Patrick Kane says that the NHL's participation in the Olympics is good for hockey. "Anyone that doesn't see it that way is crazy."
Well with that great argument you have me convinced! Thanks Patty!

Its true hockey benefits enormously as a whole. CNN has Oshie on the ront-page, everyonen is talkitng about what a great game that was. Fans in Europe are getting a chance to watch their countrymen at much better manageable hours, which again benefits the sport.

Going to the Olympics does so much more for the game than things like putting hockey into areas that don't even know what snow is. So good for Kaner to speak it out take that Ed moron Snider.

The Blues are my team in the West again, so many likeable players and they have built this team without tanking AND on a small internal budget, so that's extremely impressive.

Their loyal fans deserve a winner and it would be good for the whole city, if the Blues could bring in a cup.

#2483778 Zetterberg out with herniated disc

my point is, if he opted not to play in the olympics THIS year, he would have been able to get some much needed/desered rest for a couple weeks, before the nhl resumed playing games

Z is a true warrior, has national pride and so he played through it. I don't care that much about the NHL season, he had the chance to captain his country at the olympics that's a once in a lifetime moment for players.

If I had to take something away from the Z or Pasha situation, it would be this: I have even more respect for them now, they are putting their teammates, countries over themselves and basically are playing through everything. We are so lucky, to have these two guys and I'm incredible proud to have such great player in a winged wheel.

There are more important things in life than hanging on to a very impressive playoff streak. If I had to choose between both of them captaining their respective teams OR making the playoffs I'd go with the first choice because they've given so much to this franchise, time to give them something back.

Also I don't care what the doctors are seeing both are superb trained athletes we are going to see them again in the olympics book it :)
