#2434465 State your unpopular opinion

Posted by frankgrimes on 30 August 2013 - 01:17 PM

I loathe everything connected with social media, be it Twitter or Facebook

I think hockey was better pre 2005 (skillwise also)

I prefer family corporates instead of big ones - if you are against GV 10 you are hating children! *g*

I couldn't care less if my car is ecnomy friendly or not, it should be fast, comfortable and provide safety for me and others.

Not voting anybody is better than trying to figure out, who of the two idiots might be the bigger one.

#2434298 USA Olympic '14 Jerseys

Posted by frankgrimes on 28 August 2013 - 04:30 AM

So far the worst of them all, horrible design. Fake laces and blurry stars on the shoulders really?

The USA K-Swiss logo is absolutely disgusting having your country associated with a trademark should be a no-go. Even though I am not from the US I really hope this is just your third jersey and the real one will be revealed later.

#2434211 It's time - to predict 2014 Team Canada

Posted by frankgrimes on 27 August 2013 - 03:38 AM

At first Ithought wow someone has some great photoshop skills but since TSN confirmed this just wow. I don't know but how does this help the players? They might see the bigger angles but other than that? Playing hockey office is not the same as on ice hence why rollerhockey is useless.

#2434153 Change to goalie pads.

Posted by frankgrimes on 26 August 2013 - 05:53 AM

The NHL hates goalies just excellent making the second toughest job on the team - goons having the toughest - even more complicated.

Want to bring back excitment to the NHL? Allow hitting, hip checks and other stuff again instead of trying to force more offense.

#2433891 Capitals sign Grabovski (1 year deal)

Real nice signing for the Caps. IMO it's actually an upgrade to Ribeiro. In fact, if the Wings hadn't signed Weiss, I was hoping we'd sign Grabo. Will be interesting to see how much $ they gave him.

Seems to be a show your worth type of contract, if he does well Grabos next one is going to better if not, well KHL bound. Obviously I thought Grabo as a former Russian would have been KHL bound good for him to get another shot with a NHL club. The caps once again are a high powered offensive team with questionable defense, they either miss the playoffs or are looking at another first round exit.

#2433721 NHL 14

Posted by frankgrimes on 21 August 2013 - 12:10 AM

Demo comes out Tuesday, anyone excited for this game?

I used to be excited about NHL X but that time is long gone, so here is what I expect:

- slightly improved textures if even that

- former gone features now being introduced as new and super-gameplay relevant

- better music pool of artists

- incomplete rosters

so basically a rushed version of NHL 13 with some updates. Why can't companies just pass 1 year, release an updated roster and come back with a real improved one in 2 or maybe 3 years? That's just mind boggling.

#2433701 San Jose Sharks decide to use practice jerseys from now on...

Posted by frankgrimes on 20 August 2013 - 08:11 PM

I love how everyone hates on these jerseys for being so plain... our jerseys are even more plain... take the stripe off the arm on the wings jerseys and you basically have the wings practice jerseys

Well if you take off something from a Jersey it will look different. The point is, there isn't anything on those Sharks jerseys making them stand out from only ones used for practise.

Somehow this jersey thing has gotten out of hand the Stars had a perfect one some years and yet they have decided to make it worse every year. If it'snot broken don't fix it, why is that so hard to understand for some nhl teams?

The Wings jersey is fine, the colors are grisp and sharp, it's clean and not overloaded.

They really look like practise jersey, very bland and kina meh. I thought the old ones were a lot better

#2433411 Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

Posted by frankgrimes on 15 August 2013 - 07:40 PM

I wonder how "Jeffrey" Lupul feels about the new boss?

I wonder if the new boss will ever find out they don't have a player named Jeffrey Lupul

#2433122 Any new Helm Updates?

Posted by frankgrimes on 12 August 2013 - 04:23 PM

Hope his back can heal fully at first and then think about returning to the game, life > hockey. Having that said I wouldn't put him in against the Sabres with John Scott in the lineup.

#2433067 New York Rangers

Posted by frankgrimes on 11 August 2013 - 06:58 PM

The Rangers have been under a terrible GM and under a very bad coach during the last few years, thanks to the CBA they are another team held down by the league. I really thought they didn't give up a lot for Nash but Sather never replaced the depth of this team combine that with Freakarellas style of coaching and the results aren't going to be pretty. Seriously stars like Nash, Richards and Gaborik as shot blockers? That's ridiculous Like someone mentioned Vigneault could really turn this team around, Lundqvist deserves a stanley cup before retiring.

#2432313 Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)

Posted by frankgrimes on 03 August 2013 - 04:22 AM

I think not being captain and focusing on his game could very well have been the main reason for him to leave Ottawa.

#2432202 Red Wings to Officially Retire #5 on March 6th

Posted by frankgrimes on 01 August 2013 - 06:58 PM

Deserving would be an understatement, easily top 3 defenseman of all time, class act too bad the team didn't finish the job back in 2009. The perfect human deserved another back to back Stanley Cup. 4 Stanley Cups, 7 Norris Trophies, 12x All Star that's amazing. Words alone can't describe how good that guy was. Swedish offensive defenders will be forever guided with the task of becoming the next Lidstrom. This guy will soon join his good friend Yzerman at the rafters. Will be a sad and great feeling for every Wingsfan. One.more year one more year one more year

#2431897 New NHL divisions, names, and playoff format

Posted by frankgrimes on 30 July 2013 - 02:03 AM

The playoff format is unnecessarily complicated. I was never a fan of divisional matchups being forced on us. Or divisions at all. You don't need to play a team five times to develop a rivalry.

I think they are just trying too hard to create rivalries, although the best ones are already set. I mean wednesday is now officially rivalry day how stupid is that? Players and fans already know their opponents amd rivals, no need for the NHL trying to build one. In terms of Chicago I very sure they are going to miss their old and only original 6 rivalry soon enough.

The new playoff format just sucks but I am really looking forward to the games against Montreal, Toronto, Rangers and of course Pittsburgh.

#2431732 ESPN/Sportscenter gives the NHL 2.7% of its time

Posted by frankgrimes on 28 July 2013 - 05:02 PM

I think it's better for espn to just cover the only thing they know and just leave. Hockey alone. I mean even if I were into the other sports their coverage is simply overkill and espn is going the way of MTV. As hockey fans we can be really thankful for TSN and their superb job of covering hockey.
