#2422069 Xbox One and PS4

Posted by frankgrimes on 25 June 2013 - 06:10 AM

Yeah MS basically scrapped everything that pissed everyone off, they announced it officially today. Would have thought they came to their senses before today but I guess not.

Doesn't change one thing for me:

1. don't play with your potential customers

2. the code for this crap is already in place, what or who should stop them from using it later and then what? No refunds!

3. kinect mandatory - yeah no thanks not letting MS spy out my behaviour, room, face, motions.

4. overpriced the PS 4 has more power and is 100 $$$$ cheaper so thats another huge no brainer

#2421786 Gary Bettman Stanley Cup Presentations

Posted by frankgrimes on 24 June 2013 - 03:08 PM

I always loved the idea of having a former legend from each of the two opponents handing out the cup.

If I were the captain I wouldn't even wait just take the cup and celebrate with the my organization  and fans.

#2421631 2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

No clue why Wings fans here are cheering for Chicago.

Thats extremely strange isn't it? I don't like either team so I am cheering for both to lose but cheering for our most hated rival is just strange.

#2421288 Who would you rather have: Marchand or Shaw?

Posted by frankgrimes on 21 June 2013 - 10:28 PM

This is like deciding, if you want to jump from the right or left side into the sea. That said easily Shaw. Marchand is just acting tough, because the Bruins tough guys are having his back. This guy would play a very different style, if that wasn't the case. Shaw at least brings a physical element and is usable even without bodyguards.

#2421052 Flyers to buyout Briere

Posted by frankgrimes on 20 June 2013 - 01:27 PM

Nothing against him, but stay away from Briere please. Wings are going to get younger, bigger Briere doesn't match the new direction.

The Flyers are really handeling their players like crap at some point this will come back and haunt them.

#2420550 Datsyuk agrees to 3-year extension, $22.5m total, $7.5m/year

When all is said done, even though getting your number up in the JLA is extremely difficult #13 has to be there. He took one for the team, great cap hit and awesome length, thank you Pasha looking forward to 3 more years, what a great player.

Oh sure it's the ice conditions.  That's the problem with the Hawks.

Everything is a probem if it goes against Edzo and his Hawks. I am very sure, the lights are too bright...

#2420208 2013 Offseason Thread

Posted by frankgrimes on 16 June 2013 - 07:38 PM

Isles got a 7 rounder for the marks to Mark Streit, may not seem much but at that pricetag the Wings should be able to get a 4 rounder for the rights to Filpulla. Better than lettimg them walk for nothing...

#2419890 Talking Tootoo

Posted by frankgrimes on 14 June 2013 - 04:07 PM

The guy just doesn't provide anything, he is not an enforcer just an agitator and not a very good hockeyplayer. Rather have a real enforcer and another fourth line guy, didn't like the signing back then and for sure not liking it one year after.

#2419805 2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Posted by frankgrimes on 14 June 2013 - 11:09 AM

So hadn't been able to hop on since the game...here is my normal Hawks thoughts/complaints:
-Start with the GTG and GWG, to say it isn't puck luck to shoot a puck 3 feet to the side of net and have it go off other team's skate to tie it up is skill makes me sick. Most Chicago radio guys didn't mention that particular play though. Then a double deflection, c'mon man... they apparently had heard on the grapevine that Boston media was blaming poor luck for losing, they were mad about that but apparently they don't live in reality. Game should have ended 3 to 2.

-Not only did Oduya score a lucky tying goal, he basically should have been called for two penalties. Based on what we learned about penalty shots from the rule's junkies in our series was it doesn't matter how lightly you tap someone's hands on a breakaway, it affects their scoring chance and should be a PS. Well, Oduya was diving after a guy, his stick flew up and touched guy's hands. Second penalty, was diving again throwing stick and admittedly getting puck off, I think, Seguin's stick in front of net or maybe that Dragon guy, and then that same stick tripping the dude about 1 or 2 mins before their game winning goal. Sorry, refs, only calling over the glass and too many men on the ice penalties in OT when there are seriously other penalties is just bulls***. Grow a pair and call the game consistently throughout all the playoffs and OTs, don't change for game 7s or OTs etc...

-There was another obvious takedown during a breakaway that should have been called a PS for Boston. They tackle guy and apparently he still didn't lose a chance at scoring while a step ahead of defender on a breakaway.

I feel bad for Boston having to learn on the fly about how the refs don't call s*** on Hawks (and its not because of their skill) maybe its cause all their bulls*** is after the whistle and they don't like to call stuff that isn't part of a hockey play, good job dirtbag Hawks.

I have never seen a team that is more clutchy/grabby on their backcheck than the Hawks (and they have the gall to ***** about it in any non fast paced game). Any time opposing team has puck along board, you can almost guarantee they can't get their stick on the puck because somehow magically the Hawk guy has them in a bearhug.

When you have the puck in the opposition end for almost the entire last half of the 3rd period you are more likely to have a fluky goal go in. With the much bigger goalie equipment now, a very high percentage of goals nowadays are fluky goals and you're more likely to get them if you can maintain control in the opposition's end.
Yeah the refs don't call s*** on Chicago like late in the 3rd in the 7th game against when they took away a GWG from them for a calling a roughjing call on Saad for getting roughed up by Quincey.

Just wait till the Bruins tough guys are hurt or not in the lineup, Marchand will play as clean as a game as you have seen him. Chara is by far their best defender, so I am sure Julien told him to not really fight. His father also was a pro wrestler so it does make sense but I am sure playing against a 6,9 guy is a lot to handle even for NHL players. Seriously the Hawks have only one likable player and thats Jonathan Toews.

To me they only have one dislikeable player and that's Twenny but of course, I don't know them that well.
Hossa is very likeable, a classy individual. There are not many athletes who would give up millions of dollars to try and win a championship.

Thanks for mentioning Hossa, thats true I really forgot him. I wasn't even mad at him for signing with the damn Hawks (would have prefered another team obviously), but he got his well deserved cup and is still a huge performer. Wish he still would be a Wing...

But Kane, Bickell, Marchand, Shaw and Crawford can all go .... themselves...

#2419422 Streit traded to Philly..? Buyouts?

Posted by frankgrimes on 12 June 2013 - 02:49 PM

Pass on Briere. He'll be 36 in October. 16 points in 34 games this year. He's past his prime.

Wings need to get bigger meaner and stronger younger, so no to Danny boy

#2418894 2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Posted by frankgrimes on 09 June 2013 - 06:38 PM

It all comes down to one thing: which Bruins team shows up. If they pick up where they left off against the Pens, and stay there, the 'hawks don't stand a chance. And that's really saying something.

But I feel like this series might go the distance, i.e. six or seven hard-fought wars.

Man, first Original Six SCF since, what was it, '79? I hadn't even been born! *realizes he's never seen an O6 SCF* I feel like such a n00b!

It is great that its an original 6 final, but to be honest I always wanted a Wings Leafs O 6 final for obvious reasons but one thing is for sure ratings are going to be through the roof.

This a million times. The Hawks tried to be the bullies against Detroit and LA, but they won't for a second against Boston. Bickell and Shaw will disappear, and Toews and Kane will disappear on the score board just like Sid and Malkin.

I so can't wait to see  Bickel trying to be a bully against Thornton might not end pretty for him...

#2418188 ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

Posted by frankgrimes on 06 June 2013 - 03:01 PM

Gotta say I feel sorry for the people that think a low scoring game is boring. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole game. I have to give Crosby kudos for his hustle when he had his lid removed. He almost ended the game all by himself.

Best non-Wings game I've seen in a long time.

Kings need to win today but man what a game, if people think low scoring is boring...I really recommend them to rewatch this game. Bergeron once agaon captain clutch.
