This is why the capgeek thread was created!!!

#2418985 2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Posted by The Axe on 10 June 2013 - 08:30 AM

Will be fum to see if the bruins bias switches next year.  I dont think it will.  I think we all really just hate Edzo, NBC, Bettman, and the Engineered NHL we have to watch now.

Pittsburgh is pretty much set on defense anyway, they have a strong prospect pool of D-men. They would ask for Nyquist, Tatar++++

Boston just torched them.  Are you sure?

Franzen-Mursak-Frk would be a good Griffens line.

#2417931 Which UFA would help the Wings the most?

Posted by The Axe on 05 June 2013 - 04:41 PM

So has Franzen. He has played in 117 games in those 3 years and scored 11 goals, Franzen scored 14 in 41 this year.. Franzen is one of our biggest and most physical forwards as well as our best goal scorer.
It's ridicKulous to say Penner is another Franzen.

It's too bad you can't appreciate being lucky (or are you a bandwagoner?) enough to be a fan of the best sports organization in North America(maybe the world) over the last 3 decades. But go ahead and continue to ***** and whine.
I love our team.

I want to see that continue.

#2417860 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by The Axe on 05 June 2013 - 12:51 PM

Same could be said of Stamkos and Ovechkin and they go plenty of 2 game stretches without goals and they make a lot more $ and have a lot more opportunity (ice-time PP time, less defensive teams...)to score goals.

Yup.  Good analogy.  Franzen is right up there with those guys in the trophy gathering and all star appearances.  Oh wait ...

#2417443 Datsyuk: I want to sign extension with Wings this summer

Posted by The Axe on 03 June 2013 - 07:53 PM

Lids is a once in a lifetime player, I love Pavel but he is not Lids or Stevie Y, and neither is Z for that matter.

I also said Kronwall which you left out, in his contract discussion Holland said the same thing.

He said the same thing when Z was up, it is the canned answer for everyone that is not a once in a lifetime player.

My point, that is Holland's canned answer, he gives that answer to the media every June!

Datsyuk is like Lids.  You dont get a guy like him ever again.

#2417318 What is happening to the league/sport I love?

Posted by The Axe on 03 June 2013 - 10:45 AM

Don't worry Bettman knows what he is doing lol...

You laugh, but he actually does.  He's following the NFL model with parity and sharing.  Its smart longterm, but sucked for us shortterm because we were at the top.  If this had been done in 1985, the Wings would have loved it.

I like Horton

#2416552 Will Brunner be back?

Posted by The Axe on 31 May 2013 - 01:04 PM

Brunner fan here. I think he will be back and he will be better. It was his first year in the NHL and he held his own... Ups, downs, Playoffs, Bigger ice, Bigger players. Not everyone can do as he did and add value.

If Brunner hits the gym hard and adds 15 lbs and upper body strength, he will be a legit top 6.  He looked good at times, but 200 lbs and not getting pushed around and bumped off pucks makes this guy super valueable.

#2416352 The ugly elephant in the room

Posted by The Axe on 30 May 2013 - 07:29 PM

Ugh...suppose I hate the Kings the least, although all 4 are a bunch of whiny divers, so who gives a rat's ass really

Also, any respect I had for Toews is now gone after the series, what a *****

I know!  I didnt think it was possible for me to like Kane more and Toews less.  Yep.  It was.

#2416340 Wow... Danny Cleary

Posted by The Axe on 30 May 2013 - 07:21 PM

You think that Sheahan could come in, play an offensive role, and be second on the team in playoff scoring?

If Cleary's gone, we're losing a lot more than you seem to think.

While I agree with you, it has to happen.  Lidstrom loss hurt, but opened up the door for the saplings to grow.  You gotta clear out the old sometimes.  I would be looking to unload Cleary, Flip, Bert, Sammy, White, and Colo if I was Holland.

Cleary, Flip, and White take care of themselves as UFAs.
Buyouts take care Bert and Sammy.
Colo can be traded easily.  4th rounder in return.

#2416336 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by The Axe on 30 May 2013 - 07:14 PM

If Holland is talking about having Bert and Sammy back (as mentioned in other places here) I highly doubt Franzen will be bought out. I have a weird feeling that a combination of loyalty, saving face, and not having a ready replacement will prevent this.  I don't know what we will do about the cap hit if he retires.  I feel that Z will play his entire contract, but not Franzen ...

THIS.  Using buyouts is a way for a NEW GM to clean up old messes (gomez).  No incumbant GM is going to admit a bad signing, much less 2, by dumping players he signed.  "Yah boss, I burned 11 mil of yours for no reason.  Turns out we cant even use this slow, old guy."

#2416326 Thanks LGWers, Mods, and Matt

Just want to give my first annual end of season shout out to all of you.  People ask me sometimes, "You post stuff on the internet?  Why?" when they see me doodling on my phone and concentrating/chuckling/mumbling.  I cant explain properly that debating with you, sharing opinions with you, and laughing at all the great pics you come up with adds a lot of good vibes to my days.  So props to all of you thru good times and bans!
