#2327298 2012 Lockout Watch

Posted by Johnz96 on 29 August 2012 - 11:49 PM

Bettman and the owners don't give a s*** about the fans, if they did he wouldn't be presenting the Cup to the displeasure of the fans. All they care about is making money. The money comes from the fans.
If there is another strike please boycott the NHL for at least 2 months after and hit em where it hurts

#2327002 New Commissioner?

What's sad is that your predisposition against Bettman makes you believe a fabricated story and then you use that as evidence that he should be fired.

Can anyone name one thing they know for certain about this guy that is a justification for their animosity?

He made the game of hockey less entertaining and fun to play to facilitate parity and give weaker teams a better chance of winning, he has caused 2 lockouts (never happened with any other commissioner) and trying for another. Those atre the 2 biggest ones for me but there is so much more.
What sad is that there are hockey fans that don't resent him

They should crack down on Crosby for it like they crack down on Holmstrom for goalie interference

I hope he gets a terrible disease soon

What a great character Wendel Clark was? I'm pretty sure he's the one that got a match penalty for slashing one of the NHL's nicest and cleanest players(sarcasm don't kill me, I hate Bryan Marchment) in the throat.

I think Sports Illustrated compared Wendel Clark very well with Alex Burrows, very similar players.

http://sportsillustr.../content.5.html

Burrows can't go toe to toe with the leagues toughest and he can't score 40 goals. Burrows is a pest, Clark was one of the best hockey players of his era.

#2325942 Nyquist vs. Brunner

Posted by Johnz96 on 19 August 2012 - 04:24 AM

It would be great if they both played amazing and displaced Franzen's lazy ass from the top 6 and made him expendable. Thats my dream.

The REAL question is: what number do you think Brunner should wear? 96 belongs to homer whether or not he plays. its just too soon to recirculate #96. Id like to see him in 88, i think it would look cool.

My dream is that we get rid of our top goal scorer who also happens to be one of the biggest forwards on a team that lacks size because I hate him for no good reason and perceive him to be lazy because if he wasn't he would easily score twice as many goals as he does. We can give Brunner 93

I hate Wendel Clark, he was a useless goon that only has recognition around the league because he was the best player on terrible teams. He is everything hockey shouldn't be, he was not smart, he was not skilled and most of all he was ugly and I didn't like his hair.

Wendel was a great player

Hopefully the league will crackdown on his antics, there was a lot of exposure about his dirty play at the end of the season. and yet he was still governed by a double standard.
He draws penalties by diving when he should be called for diving, he is an unsportsmanlike cheap shot artist and they let him get away with it, and if someone cheap shots him you know they will get called.
He is a poor ambassador for the sport, I don't know why the league continues to view him as such

#2323423 Do you want us to trade for Ott?

Posted by Johnz96 on 01 August 2012 - 01:28 PM

Definitely don't need 2 lightweight instigators, we need a true heavyweight

#2321075 Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*

I don't think he will either, because Calgary probably wants too much in return, so it may be a moot point, but it's that bold of a prediction, because I'm that confident that it would happen... He's had a VERY raw deal since he came into the league, with the s*** teams he's been on... he's not even in his prime yet, and it's not a mistake he was drafted as high as he was

I don't think the Flames would want too much in return, they would be glad to get rid of his contract

No recent sightings of the centrarian troll, I guess it must have been banished or maybe even run over

Rather have Ryan and Mule is the only 1st or 2nd line asset I'd give up. I do suspect with the rash of inactivity since the glitter twins signed and the volley Bettman just served up regarding the CBA it could be a while before CLB gets any real offers on the table. Really think we're looking at a long dry spell of activity until that whole thing at least starts to clear up.

Maybe even a long dry spell of no NHL hockey whatsoever. This time I don't think the players should cave.
Mick and Keith signed on with an NHL team? In what capacity? :P

Crosby took a lot less then he's worth  because he's a team player and leader.

Crosby is a terrible leader and a terrible team player,
The main reason the Pens allowed so many goals against the Flyers was because they didn't play a team game Crosby, was more focused on hating his opponents than leading his team. He is a negative influence on and off the ice
He really needs to grow up. I used to think he was just young and will grow up but he is getting worse
And he signed for a lot more than he is worth considering his concussion problems

True but passes that don't necessarily result in a turnover, are those counted?  They still don't connect with the intended target.  But whatever, I have no more nits to pick.

Here's a virtual beer to you for hoping that he is the next Lids!  I don't care if it is only 10am, it's 5 o'clock somewhere.   :tounge:

I don't think he will be the next Lids but i do think he will be a great hockey player

That line has been on loop for the last 4 years.....

I think nobody has more wins (regular season or playoffs) in the last 4 years. If you expect to win a Cup every year you're going to be disappointed a lot and overspending would make it even more more difficult to win one than it already is
