They should have a hockey game to settle their dispute. Winner takes all.

Hopefully Bettman gets Kronwalled

#2334584 Martin Frk

Posted by Kronstantinov on 22 November 2012 - 08:12 PM

I don't usually nerd out about stats, but here's the complete Q stats for both players (as of Frk's stats last week):

Frk
10/11 - 62GP-22G-22A-50PTS
11/12 - 34GP-16G-13A - 29PTS
12/13 - 20GP-9G-18A-27PTS

PPG AVG = 0.914

http://www.redwingsc...cts/martin-frk/

Nestrasil
08/09 - 66GP-22G-35A-57PTS
09/10 - 50GP-16G-35A-51PTS
10/11 - 58GP-19G-51A-70PTS

PPG AVG = 1.02

http://www.redwingsc...drej-nestrasil/

Frk is a goal scorer, Nestrasil was a play maker, but their point totals are almost identical. So, I'm not sure where your numbers are coming from.

Edit to add: I'm not saying Frk won't be am elite NHL sniper, but I'm using Nestrasil as an example of how Jr numbers don't always translate into NHL or even AHL success.

The year he was drafted (09-10), Nestrasil scored at 1.02 PPG. Frk is scoring at a 1.35 PPG clip. Frk is actally 8 months younger than Nestrasil was that year. It doesn't sound like a lot but at that age it usually is. Frk began his QMJHL career out almost 2 years younger.
Frk also has some crash and bang to his game whereas Nestrasil never did

LaFontaine too.  That guy was sick in the Q.

He was sick in the NHL which should be changed to the NHL currently the N stands for No instead of National

#2332573 Z basically says Bettman should be fired

They're wrong because the solution to a problem they created shouldn't be to force someone else to solve it for them. They sure as hell shouldn't be looking to that solution for the second time in eight years. It's time for the owners to look at trying something other than taking money away from players.

The problem isn't how much is being spent on players, it's mostly who's spending it. Owner's need to take responsibility for their poor decisions. Also, either there's not enough revenue sharing, or the payroll range is too narrow. The owners need to address one or the other.

The top owners will likely lose around $300M if we lose the whole season. If instead they were to take half of that to help the teams that are struggling, we could get through this season. Then the next season, between the combination of revenue growth and lower salary commitments on existing contracts the player's share is lowered without requiring a rollback or escrow. Do that for a few years, and the share eventually gets down to a number the owners are more comfortable with. Combine that with increased revenue sharing or a wider range, and telling dumb owners there will be no more bailouts, and maybe we'll get the right teams spending the money and we won't need another lockout for the next CBA.

But what the owners want is to beat down the players again, the top teams will lose their $300M, the other teams will still lose just as much or more than they would playing the season, the fans lose, the league loses future revenue, and even if the owners get what they want the same thing is likely to happen again in the future, because it reinforces the owner's mentality that they can correct any stupidity on their part by taking back from the players.

by locking them (and the fans) out

No kidding.  I believe that we have a grasp on what each side needs more than Fehr and Bettman do.

haroldsnepsts, you can be the NHLPA negotiator
I will be the NHL negotiator

Here is my first proposal.

50/50 split
We will pay all current contracts
3 year entry level contract limit
6 year contract limit
I want the new realignment plan as well

Any thoughts?   :D

How can ypu [possibly say "pay all currnet cintracts" and argue that Bettman and the owners are not totally at fault for the lockout? I think that is whole rason there is a lockout to begin with, because the owners don't want to pay the current contracts

He's a punk

#2308012 Darren Helm signs 4 year extension

Posted by Kronstantinov on 19 June 2012 - 10:50 AM

Great signing and a great bargain for what Helm brings to the table. He would score a lot more if he was given opportunities in scoring situations.
It is unfortunate that stats dictate a player's income.
It is precisley because of players like this that the Wings will be a Cup contender for a long time. Players who are willing to play for less than what they could get leaving cap space for the team to fill it's needs (and not over-paying for someone just because we have the money), players like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Kronwall, Howard, all could have got so much more on the open market.

#2307824 Why Evander Kane is Worth the Price

Posted by Kronstantinov on 18 June 2012 - 11:35 AM

Now that the rumor says he wants out, I would love to get him.

I just again wonder that someone who might be in our division would trade him to us.  Plus the cost.

Just watch out, because he might be Holland's target over Parise.  It is possible.

Not because he thinks it Kane is better than Parise, just that it might be more manageable to get him.

I wouldn't sign him but a manageable trade would be okay.

Kane would be better for the Wings only thing is they woud have to give up some assetts to get him

#2307260 15 years ago today

A sad day indeed.  Richard Gnida is a waste of genetic material.  It's a travesty that someone would be driving on a suspended license for a limo service, and if I recall correctly there were reports of him being under the influence as well.

Vladdy was a sure fire hall of famer had he not been injured in that wreck.  I rocked my white Konstantinov jersey today, and shed a few tears.   My fondest memory was being in Philly for a game and rocking the jersey during a Wings win that featured a monster hit on Lindros by the Vladinator.

He was under the influence.

Damn do I miss hits like that. I can't believe its been 15 years already also. Time sure does fly.

Anyone have a time machine I can borrow? I have to go back to the 90's!

We get hits like that from Kronner.
Imagine how good the D would have been if he didn't get in that limo

#2307181 Chris Stewart

Posted by Kronstantinov on 13 June 2012 - 02:10 PM

I don't know about that. He is young, hopefully he grows up if that's a problem hopefully Datsyuk and Lidstrom and the Wings organization can set a good example for him but the guy's young tough and got 40 goal potential and is going to be more affordable now to acquire than he ever will be.
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=EQrsJwzhqRA

I think Stewart would be a perfect fit for the Wings if he doesn't have prima donna attitude issues like Crosby. If the Wings can get Pariise, they would have a lot of good skating, skilled finess type smaller players with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Parise, Nyquist even with prospects they are stocked with such players like Tatar, Jarnkrok, and Pulkinnen so trading Filppula for Stewart would leave us enough cap space left to get an elite defenseman like Suter and bigger tougher bottom 6 forward that would leave us looking something like this. I don't think we would be able to afford to keep Hudler however.

Datsyuk-Parise-Stewart

Zetterberg-Franzen-Nyquist

Helm-Bertuzzi-Cleary

Miller-Abdelkader-Moen/Gaustad

with Eaves, Mursak and Emmerton fighting for time

Suter-Kronwall

Smith-White

Quincey-Ericsson

Kindl and Schultz as reserves

Howard-Mcdonald/free-agent

That would be a younger, deeper, bigger, tougher to play against  line-up than the one we iced this year and still as skilled

#2306711 Trade

Posted by Kronstantinov on 11 June 2012 - 07:16 PM

agreed.  Additionally, if your team is already very thin then the superstar wouldn't really help much.  Look at Columbus.  An average goalie and a few 2nd and 3rd liners would probably do them more good than Rick Nash is right now.

Also, what does the OP mean by average? Is Cleary average, or Abby, or Miller, or Helm.  You could argue that they are all average, and I certainly wouldn't trade the four of them for Steven Stamkos or Erik Karlsson.

Wow.

You wouldn't trade them for Stamkos, Karlsson, Ovechkin, Weber, Doughty or Malkin. I think the OP is right any GM would and no  Gm would give any one of those guys for the 4 average players you mentioned, all of them could easily be replaced with UFAs, prospects, waiver pick ups(that's how we acquired Miller and Cleary) or trades that wouldn't require too much

#2306703 Brendan Smith

His goal for the summer is to add muscle without losing speed

I would have added the article where Smith talks about his summer goals but I didn't want to go over the media limit

If Babcock and the Wings finally give him the opportunnity, I think he will be a top Calder Trophy contender
