#2396714 WCQF Game 3 GDT - Ducks 4 @ Red Wings 0 (ANA leads series 2-1)

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 05 May 2013 - 11:04 AM

I don't know about you guys but that Abby call got me so mad. If that isn't a hockey play I don't know what is anymore.

I turned the game off right after they got a goal on the 5 min BS PP.  I no longer have any faith in the NHL.  Rich is right, hockey was better in the 80's, and I loved the early 90's.  Hockey was played by men back then.

#2397227 Abdelkader suspended 2 games for hit on Lydman

Posted by WINGS TILL DEATH on 06 May 2013 - 08:01 AM

Agreed.  I don't like these exploding upwards hits but don't want to get into a frame by frame breakdown.

I'm guessing 2 games?  He go a 5 minute major in the game and an ejection.  It seems like that factors into suspensions.  He also has no suspension history and they typically weigh missing playoff games more.

I miss the old days when these hits were common. This is the Eurofication of the league. Their goals is to make it more like soccer. I'm on the verge of dropping the NHL.

#2383683 Steve Ott tried "licking" Jeff Halpern's face

Posted by kipwinger on 12 April 2013 - 12:09 PM

My guess is that everyone who has to play against Ott is going to be in favour of making them mandatory! :P

It was kind of hard to tell from that angle, but it almost looked more like he stuck his tongue out in a licking motion rather than actually licking him.   I don't think he was actually trying to lick.

Haha, I watched Brendan Shanahan's video explanation of the incident.  According to Shanny every player is responsible for their own tongue, and much like their stick, they must be held responsible for ensuring its proper use.  Additionally, while there was clearly intent to lick, no penalty was assessed by the on ice officials.  Furthermore, it must be taken into account that Jeff Halpern was not injured as a result of the incident and was able to return to the ice later that period after squeegeeing off his visor.

In Summary:

Clearly intent to lick

No "licking" penalty assessed

Halpern was not (physically) injured; no mention of the psychological effects

Because of this the Department of Player safety has decided to issue a warning to Buffalo's Steve Ott.  He will be considered a repeat "licker" going forward.

#2375233 Red Wings should pursue Jagr

We got tons of skill and finesse we need power. Our weakness is that we get pushed around and to the perimeters

#2372518 Larry Murphy Fired by FSD

Posted by VM1138 on 23 March 2013 - 07:12 AM

I do, too.  But let's face it, Murphy was not a good commentator or color guy.  I like him as a player and hate to see someone fired, but its probably a smart move.

#1861115 Fleury pursuing charges against Graham James

He stole hisf****** innocence and f***ed him for life.  A bullet is the only answer.  What a piece of trash.  Of course, he is probably going to be made a victim after all is said and done.  We live in weird times.

I'm pretty sure immediate execution is the proper punishment for sexual predators.  So put a bullet in his head and send his family a bill for it.

#2351463 Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

Posted by kipwinger on 05 February 2013 - 07:06 PM

you guys are all talking like your hockey experts. It is pretty funny to read these posts. First it was.......

"wtf why didnt we get suter"

"Sutter is better then Weber, Sutter made Weber look good"

                                               to

" Sutter sucks and is not even close to worth his contact"

"thank god we did not go out and sign ryan Sutter"

You guys are the most hypocritical people ever and it is realy funny to read this kind of stuff. I mean it has been 8 freaking games lol

I don't think I've ever noticed you around here, but it seems like you've got a lot of posts so welcome.  Obviously you've got a lot to say on the subject of Ryan "Sutter" and Shea Weber given that you've entered this thread and decided to post.  Yet, I find myself wanting more.  I feel as though your comments thus far are only the tip of the iceberg.  Rhapsodize if you will on your opinion of "Sutter's" contract.  Was it worth it?  Is it too much?  Is "Sutter" a shadow of his former self or is it the new environment in Minnesota?  It's obvious that "your" wanting to say more on the "Sutter" vs. Weber topic, so why not break us off a piece of knowledge?  Is it because "your" afraid that your opinions are just "realy", "realy", "realy" good and we won't understand them?  I mean, wtf?!?!

Think of it this way, we're your padawans, and you are our hockey Yoda.  I know we don't seem like much, just sandy haired kids fresh off an ice planet, with nothing but the clothes on our backs and the stars in our eyes.  But if you give us a chance, just one chance, we'll prove that with just a little of your guidance we can blow up the Death Star.  C'mon Yoda, whaddya say?

Family Guy is one of the most annoying shows in the history of TV IMO, but I can appreciate the humor behind this choice of artwork, and it is really well done, hope he hangs on to it when he gets called up for good.

Delightful game.  Drama, suspense, meltdowns- and what was taking place outside LGW too.

Congrats, Hank.  You and your beard have done well.

#2346162 Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

Posted by Dabura on 25 January 2013 - 02:14 PM

We're always complaining the NHL is too boring. Stuff like this sexes it up, adds some drama, flair, theatricality.

Do I want to see him do this after every goal he scores? No. But I don't see how that's an issue. Or is this already a common thing with him??? (Haven't really been following him or the team very closely.)

What was most impressive, though, is how far he was able to slide across the ice before coming to a stop...he seemed to just keep going.

Almost like his knees were...oiled....
