That second fight was crazy... don't think I’ve ever seen 2 guy give each other so many kidney shots in an NHL fight.

I said earlier in another thread that Tootoo will become a fan favorite, it's happening people..it's happening!!!!!!
What will cement Tootoo as an all time legend in fans eyes, even if he were to get traded the very next day.... is if he absolutely beat the snot out of Weber the first game we play the Preds. Someone needs to.

Agreed.
Like why didn't Hansen get even a penalty for this? No penalty, no discipline by the league for shoving a ref??
Burrows and Clowe got penalties on the play.
(I know it's totally off topic but I think we've beat the goal celebration thing to death)
Also... why did the announcers not mention that fact after they got 5 different looks at it? You know Ken and Mick would have said something.

Most of all, we played with tenacity. That's what won us the game. Perhaps it was the better rest, or the pep talks, the return of helm/bert, or a combination of those, who knows - I do know we need to show up like that every night. It's clear we have the skill, just got to match it with effort.

How about we just use a nickname that accurately reflects fan sentiment towards him -
Damien 'Oh please work out because our star forwards are on the decline and we need someone to carry the goal scoring torch!' Brunner
... I think it has a nice ring to it.

sugar and spice and everything nice...
I'd rather it be piss and vinegar... but sadly, I think your description is more accurate.

If Holland had re-signed Hasek, it would have convinced Suter and Parise to play in Detroit. Ken Holland clearly didn't do everything possible. Fire him NOW!

I need to contact JLA with a clever marketing idea that I know Murph will be on board with. They can spin dollar hot dog night into 'Tootoo's too hot dogs for too dollars night!'... with a Tootoo whistle thrown in! Winning?

@SlavaMalamud: KHL Prez Medvedev to SportsDaily.ru: New CBA may be basis for terminating existing contracts, some players will stay.
@SlavaMalamud: More Medvedev. "NHL's opinion of itself is so high... OK, let them get drunk on their greatness. We'll see how many Euros look our way"
@SlavaMalamud: And more Medvedev. "Our league will act according to our own and international rules. If players decide to stay, we will help them."
@SlavaMalamud: And more Medvedev, who is winning the internet tonight: "There is no reason to fear (IIHF's sanctions against players who decide to stay)"
@TGfireandice: On Medvedev comments of KHL possibly challenging NHL contracts, Bill Daly said "We have no response. We will see what happens." Edit: New quotes
@SlavaMalamud: "Number of players have either decided to stay or are looking into it.. Can't divulge their names, will cause speculation" - Medvedev, again
@SlavaMalamud: "Some players asked their NHL teams to stay for the (KHL) All-Star Game, but were denied. The selfishness is understandable" - Medvedev
Medvedev sounds like a slime ball, desperately waging a deceptive PR battle to try and sway NHL players to stay.
"Number of players have either decided to stay or are looking into it.. Can't divulge their names, will cause speculation"
Clever rhetoric, very subjective. All players referenced could be just 'looking into it'... which could mean anything. Of course, he could just be making the 'number of players' up entirely... trying to spring board off of Kovy to make players think it is a growing movement in the hopes that they will be swayed to jump on the imaginary bandwagon.

Same here if you can play in your homeland, infront of your loved ones and not having to think about lockout every 5 years and make more money, it is a wise decision.
Pasha at this point can do whatever he wants, he has given me years of joy watching his magic on the ice, first class athlete if he wants to stay in the KHL it wouldn't even hold it against him. His Co GM called him cattle, owners broke contracts so why shouldn't players.
Oh good grief... get off the cattle thing already. I think Datsyuk is smart enough to understand the context of Jimmy D's comments and not hold a personal grudge.
I would hold it against Dats if he stayed in Russia; he signed a contract and he would be severely letting down the Red Wings organization who has given him so much.

Buy-outs can't be done until after the 2013 season. At that point, both Sammy & Colaiacovo will be in the last year of their deals at $3m & $2.5m respectively. Tootoo will have 2 years left at $1.9. Given the years remaining, buying out Tootoo makes more sense but it's not like he's costing the Wings a whole lot at $1.9.
Personally, the only possible buy-outs I see are The Todd and/or Carlo if their health goes south this year. From a long-term cap flexibility standpoint though, the ones that would really make sense are Hank, Mule, & Kronner actually, but I don't think any of those (including Franzen) will happen.
The angle I am looking at is that Holland would buy out Sammy, Col, or whomever to free up cap space to go after a more desirable FA during this off-season. I don't think long-term cap hit would be his primary concern... partly because I don't think he will want to dump any of our longer term contracts.

Ok...Really dumb question here.....
Why Hank, and not Dats?
Me too.....
I think back to the 90's when Clark, and Gilmour were Leaf captains...Those guys were warriors.
Sorry - got that soft spot for that team in T.O.
I am going to go with the simple fact that Daysuk's English is atrocious, seemingly having never made a solid effort to learn the language of the country he has been playing in for so long. A bit off-topic, and I love Datsyuk in general don't get me wrong, but I am slightly offended at his horrible English. I think if he had even passively tried to pick up English he would be fairly fluent by now, considering how long he has been here. It makes me think he must have made a conscious effort to avoid learning it, to still be so horrible...
That... and he's older and would like to go back to Russia. We will presumably get a few more solid years of captaincy out of Z.
