#2565866 2016 World Cup of Hockey

Posted by Ekmanc on Yesterday, 03:41 AM

The young kid team is gonna get run over and this seems more like a jippo than anything else.

Give me the olympics instead.

Nonono we got it wrong.  Ericsson's blame is marginal in this case.  Parise used his L33T skillz to overwhelm our mortal and innocent defensman.  But Smith should have known better than to stand in the corner.  Also Mrazek did something.  I think.

In my original post I blamed mostly Ericsson and Mrazek and a tiny bit on Smith for being incredibly Passive. How you turn that into me not blaming Ericsson at all and putting it all on Smith is quite incredible... or maybe just massively disingenous?

Please, by all means, break it down for us slow folk.  Clearly I don't understand the sophisticated low-risk art of passing the puck up the slot

Again let me hit a hard knee high pass by you then and we'll see if you can bat it down? or we can watch a couple games and see how often that exact play happens and how it's almost never batted down like that. Maybe then you'll understand the risk involved a bit better.

I love the part where he layed out everything you missed, and you had nothing in response other than this. U mad bro?

He willfully misrepresents everything I said and I'm supposed to take it seriously? come on now...

Ok lemme summarize just to make sure I got your logic:

Ericsson isn't really THAT much to blame because Parise is elite, and Ericsson has no way of knowing that an elite player might pick of his pass right up the gut (which by the way most of us learned to avoid in, i don't know, Peewee hockey?)

Mrazek is to blame because he should have known that Parise is elite and should have been ready for the interception

Smith is to blame because because he should have known that Parise is elite and not provided the safe outlet pass for Ericcson but instead anticipated that the puck was going to get intercepted and should have got a head start on skating to the front of the net to cover for Ericsson.

Let me know if I missed anything.

You missed pretty much everything but it's ok, I have a feeling that happens to you a lot.

You know what guarantees that an elite NHL player isn't going to intercept a pass right in front of my net?  Not passing it right in front of my net when I have options on either side of me that are wide open and waiting for the puck.  I'm have no idea why you're defending Ericsson in this case.  Its pretty cut and dry a stupid decision by him, especially nursing a one-goal lead deep in the third, and one of several unforced turnovers that he's committed in this game.

Oh please we've both seen that pass be successful more times than we can count, it might not have been the smartest choice in that situation but it wasn't a high-risk play either if anything it was an elite move by Parise oh and a goalie who completely moved out of the way of course.

Providing an outlet pass per standard hockey protocol that Ericsson for whatever reason decided to not utilize.

The pass wasn't that bad, the take down from Parise however was very elite.

Good job Ericsson and Mrazek, fantastic play...

Honourable mention to Smith who stood in the corner rolling his thumbs the entire time.

There are very very few players in this league I'd rather have as our captain than the Zetterbeard...

Yes and Pulkky's definitely been given a chance this time, he's playing with good players and getting PP time but he's just not that involved in anything. He tries hard but nothing happens.

Pulkkinen has been completely invisible in these games that I've seen so far.

I'm sure he will do great in the shootout portion of the allstar night!
