#2534522 Holland signs 4 year extension with wings **MOD Warning Post 130**

Posted by number9 on 18 August 2014 - 07:48 PM

Elite was the wrong word but top line or second line is what I meant. And that's be guys like Ryan spezza Kessler and the list for son. These kinds of guys are traded every year and we used to be trading for them, now were not.

When and who are you thinking about???

2008 = Stuart

2007 = Bertuzzi

Other than those two we have zero other significant trades post lockout. And Bertuzzi left after only 18 games with us, so that trade actually hurt us considering we lost Matthias in it and he didn't re-sign. A sort of Legwand Jarnkrok scenario.

So essentially we have added one significant piece via trade in the 8 seasons of the cap world. So no, we didn't used to be trading for those guys and suddenly now are not.

I feel bad for him, yes I know I shouldn't because of all the money he is making but seriously the guy is human too and has a compete level in him. But man sitting in your over the top mansion, partying it up with hot babes and getting paid millions of $ for not working is like a dream come true.

If I'm Y I'm offering him 4,5 for 3 years he can could fill the St. Louis void there.

The amount of center depth this year is indeed extremely outstanding: Spezza, Kesler, Richards, Thornton, Statsny wow

#2524430 Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..

Posted by number9 on 18 June 2014 - 01:13 PM

If I'm understanding the arguments correctly, we should sign Dan Boyle because he'll give us a right handed puck mover (but not one good enough to help us advance in the playoffs), and he'll provide leadership (but not any more than you already had in Kronwall, Ericsson, and Quincey).
I'm sold.

Not a whole lot of Shea Webers lying around

Crazy upside and potential, IMHO. I feel like he could be a superstar on a more skill-based team...like ours. Really big body. Sick puck skillz. Defensively responsible. I'm just pipedreaming here, because we're not adding a 2C, let alone one we'd have to pay out the ass to acquire (Berglund probably fits that mold, hence me saying this), but...the thought of Zetterberg and Berglund on the same line, and it's our second line, and Mantha's a 30-goal-scorer on the first line, on Datsyuk's right wing...oh man.

While I'm pipedreaming about Blues players, let me say that Shattenkirk is probably #1 on my list of desirables. I'd even take him over Wayne Simmonds.

Berglund never uses his size.  He plays like he is 5'4 out there.  And he has been horrendous on a much better Blues team.  Why would he flower here?

St Louis would gladly send him packing for a beer guy and compensated parking pass.

Shatty is the best player they have that has a chance of moving.  And I don't think the Blues would take Z for him.  Any trade with Detroit will demand our youth.

Kip, if Mantha is the next Primeau then he is pretty damn good!

That's the stupidest argument ever as I'm sure you're one of the people who say ovi is a floater to? But yet he has 40 goals so far.

Franzen floating and not playing defense is kind of the same idea?

Franzen won't last until he is 40 and I doubt z does as well. Now dats? Ya he can IMO.

Saying Weiss is a top free agent to me is laughable as I've been down on the signing since day one. And I don't care for Alfie signing either...nyquist is pretty much our leading goal scorer with quite a few less games. Imagine if he was in team to start the year like I said he should but couldn't because of Hollands STUPID signings.

You don't care for the Alfie signing? No offense but I'm glad you're not our GM. He's been one of our better, more consistent forwards this year, 3rd in team scoring, and has that bomb of a shot. Oh, and he's right handed and not named Mikael Samuelsson. Seems like a win win to me.

That said, I agree with you on the Weiss signing. I still don't and didn't like it, but I'm thinking if he's had the hernia since the start or very early into the year, he hasn't been up to snuff. I'm leaving my judgement until after the season, possibly next.

#2435899 Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC

f*** you Dan Cleary just leave already!  If Ken Holland resigns Cleary, he immediately should be fired, I'm not exaggerating.

#2431624 ESPN/Sportscenter gives the NHL 2.7% of its time

Posted by Seraph on 27 July 2013 - 07:01 AM

Screw ESPN. When they do talk about hockey it's to bash on it. When they used to show games they also had very poor pre and post game coverage. After the Stanley Cup clinching games I remember them cutting out to some other dumb sport the second the cup was lifted by the captain. They simply didn't care about the sport and wanted to get on with the next program. It was a rough road to NBCSN via OLN and "Versus" but I am much happier that we are on our own network with the mainstream NBC name. At least there hockey is the premiere sport and they pay it respect with complete coverage. This is actually one of the things Bettman has done right in my opinion.

#2409064 Cleary breakaway (stickless)

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 21 May 2013 - 08:53 PM

Did anyone see karlsson put his skate on top of the puck and kick it to an open man for a scoring chance? That wad sick. Too bad there was nobody for Abby to pass to

Z does that fairly often along the boards.  He steps on the puck so it's really hard for a guy to dig out with his stick, then he looks around and kicks it to a teammate.

#2406089 Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

Posted by Nev on 18 May 2013 - 02:03 AM

Welcome to modern sports journalism.  I was going to say modern US sports journalism, but alas this kind of cheap, unintelligent, childish, completely-lacking-in-insight trash has spread over the pond :(  Its the same kind of journalism that produces the Team Win = They're Great!  Team Lose = THEY SUCK!  FIRE EVERYONE mentality.

Someone mentioned Woody Paige, and they're spot on, its exactly the same kind of playground writing that he spouted (and which lest we forget, Detroit sportswriters joined in with).  If a blackhawks fan came on here and started posting stuff like that they'd be banned as a troll and rightfully so.

I agree the turning point in Game 2 was the Okposo/Niskanen fight.

Didn't know Okposo would drop the gloves.
