Was it ever "officially" determined that they were going to buy out Sammy? I think it was denied on all sides. In any case, I meant it as more of a hypothetical scenario, not that they had to do all those exact things.
Sammy or his agent (can't remember exactly)said that the wings never made any contact whatsoever about a buyout.
Well, they brought back Cleary, so there's that.
I always felt like the 1st compliance was kind of wasted on Colaiocovo. He wasn't great by any stretch, but his contract wasn't an albatross, and I'd have rather they rid themselves of a forward than a defenseman. Babcock seemed to dislike him from the get go, like Tootoo.
I personally felt it was a waste cause they gave him(and Sammy) two year deals when it wasn't needed. They had questions at both positions, fine. Sign them TO A ONE YEAR DEAL. No team was going to sign them anyways lol.
This is what I'm talking about. You're using turnovers to criticize Quincey and willfully ignoring the fact that Smith has MORE of them. It is a FACT that despite almost 3 fewer minutes on ice per game (average), Smith still has MORE turnovers. And here you are saying Quincey's bad because he turns the puck over too much.
Am I eating crazy pills? Quincey plays more even strength and special teams, has more hits, more blocked shots, fewer giveaways, more takeaways, more shots, more goals, and fewer missed shots.
Smith has five fewer penalties, and four more assists than Quincey. That's it. In no other way is he a better player, and yet everyone around here will defend him to the death and blame Quincey to the moon.
Smith didn't piss in my cheerios. I do, however, get frustrated when purported "intelligent" fans A) don't see that Smith isn't all that good (yet), and B) blame his mediocre play on someone else (as if his failure to shoot, hit, block shots, pass, or take the puck away is somehow Kindl, Lashoff, or Quincey's fault).
I'm not going to argue with you cause it's a waste if time. But I do find it funny you brag Quincey has more goals in more ice time AND in the power play. And it's 4 goals to 3. That's kind of a piss poor argument. Smith is also SECOND in assist for our defenseman.
Just watching the games so far it's pretty clear that kronwall and smith together has been our defensive pairing this year...unfortunately in limited games.
The only way a kid ever gets to play a game here is because of injuries .... Tatar was benched his first 9 games I believe it was and took off after we got even more decimated ...... Nyquist finally stayed for good when we got more injuries (yes I know about the cap)
Sheahan and jurco .... Sheahan was projected to be a 3rd and 4th line player and not suppose to show any signs of offence ... Well I don't know about you guys but the kid can play
Just unfortunate when we gotta pull for some injuries for the kids to finally get a game or 2 in ..... Gotta hope for miller to pull a groin and miss a few games so pulkkinen comes back and plays a game now
That's the situation holland out us in though. Everyone of us knew by signing miller and clearly that there wasn't room for Tatar and nyquist who we all know should've been up since day one. So why can't holland see it?
And it's nothing against cleary or miller as their both class act guys it's just a numbers game. When we have too many forwards an too close to cap why keep bringing extra forwards that we don't need?
