Hmm it took me to the prospects ranked in order? Not mock draft.

#2416649 Dekeyser on his way to Grand Rapids

I hope Anderson Nyquist and Tatar are together. That can be our third for next year.

#2416388 Wow... Danny Cleary

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 May 2013 - 08:49 PM

The dude is a warrior but we don't have room for him thanks to Holland. I'd rather have him over Sammy, Bert, eaves, too too, cola, and Quincey. But thanks to Holland were stuck with the latter and no room for clearly

#2416368 The *unrealistic* 2013 off-season thread

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 May 2013 - 08:08 PM

Unrealistic? I trade monster for quick. Trade bert for ovi. Trade Sammy for bossa. And trade Quincey for doughty.

I don't get the point of this thread. And bickell is a second or third line guy that will cost well over 1m. Prolly closer 2.5m

#2412129 Poll: If you could pick any 20 players to start an NHL franchise with.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 26 May 2013 - 12:46 PM

I'd build my team with the best combination to win now and later (i.e. young players with lots of prime left). Of course no concern for the cap, and I'll try to build it not like an all star team, but with "bottom 6" type players in the bottom 6 (i.e. good defensively and/or hard hitters). Here we go:

Rick Nash - Sidney Crosby - Patrick Kane
Anze Kopitar - Steven Stamkos - Claude Giroux
Mike Richards - Jonathan Toews - Dustin Brown
Milan Lucic - Patrice Bergeron - David Backes
John Tavares, Jordan Staal

- On line one you have the big power forward Nash, the flashy and speedy Kane, and the of course Crosby who's very good defensively if needed. The opponents will never be able to focus on one threat on this line as they can all score and pass more or less
- Line two is all centres but the wingers have experience playing there. Kopitar's defensive strengths will cover for Stamkos' pure offensive focus. All 3 of these guys are electric when on their game.
- Line three has two centres for important faceoffs, captain serious in between two other captains who are gritty and can hit hard. Richards is also one of the best in his own zone and on the PK
- Line 4 also has two centres, with one excellent defensive forward in Bergeron surrounded by two huge bruising forwards. You're gonna be hurting when you're out against this line.
- With Tavares and Staal in the press box you have two guys who can step into the top and bottom 6, respectively, if necessary due to injury

Zdeno Chara - Erik Karlsson
Duncan Keith - Shea Weber
Drew Doughty - Kris Letang
Alex Pietrangelo

You won't have to worry about matchups with this D-corps, roll them evenly as they can go head to head with the best in the business. Karlsson's offensive inclination is balanced by Chara's defensive one, but that's not a huge lean for either of them who are both very good at both ends. Keith and Weber are basically the perfect balance of top tier ability at both ends of the ice, as is Doughty and Letang. Pietrangelo is one of the league's best as well and he can slot in to replace anyone if necessary with minimal disruption.

Henrik Lundqvist
Jonathan Quick

Simply the two best goalies in the league today so it's an easy choice. However, If you're looking for a goalie who is more suited to the backup role, slot in Craig Anderson or Roberto Luongo instead as both have played 2nd fiddle for long periods and performed well when called upon.

I pretty much agree with this. Except I would have DAT on the third or fourth line. Then when he goes replace with staal.

I still think it is based on whether or not DAT will be gone after next season.

#2406879 Trade Smith ASAP!

The impatience of people is amazing. He as well as like 6 others are all rookies. Remember all the kindl hate at start of season? He looks loads better now.

#2405034 WCSF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (CHI leads series 1-0)

Wings better follow griffins. Up 2-0 8 mins in.

#2404805 Babs confident Datsyuk will stay

Posted by DeGraa55 on 15 May 2013 - 03:04 PM

Great news....but stuff has happened before. I won't be happy until his name is signed on that line.

#2404302 Official Franzen VS Hossa

Posted by DeGraa55 on 14 May 2013 - 03:53 AM

This isn't even a debate. Hossa is ten times the player franzen will ever be. But with that said they both got terrible contracts and five years from franzens will suck less(iirc franzen has like 8 years 4m per and bossa 8m per for about same time right...could be wrong).

And ONE SERIES DOESNT END A DEBATE. How many times do people need to be told its about body of work. 1 game or 1 series or 1 month means little compared to say 3 seasons or more. 3 years is my typical rule when I judge players. One year flukes are common but if someone does it for 10 years that's success.

#2404248 22 Consecutive Playoff Appearances Recapped in 22 Minutes

Posted by DeGraa55 on 13 May 2013 - 10:55 PM

Geez being 22 I obviously didn't get to see a lot of this stuff but wow. Federovs pass through his legs or Stevie y shot from center ice have to be my favorites.

#2402324 Valtteri Filppula's Value?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 12 May 2013 - 01:51 AM

Regardless of what we think he is worth. I'd say 4.5m is his minimum next year. Now I personally think given the fact he isn't a goal scorer. Nor can he carry a team like DAT. I say he is worth no more 3.5m. Maybe 4m.

But since GMs are dumb and contract cost are going up. Ya I say 4.5m prolly even more.

#2402001 WCQF - (5) Kings vs. (4) Blues

Have to watch on mute.

The cartman voice "go kings go". Is annoying as heck. They play it NONSTOP.

#2400813 Alberta Peewee Hockey Bans Body Checking

Posted by DeGraa55 on 10 May 2013 - 12:26 AM

These are children. I don't see any problem with the rule.

Yep, because from peewee it's only ONE STEP to the top hockey league in the world. :D

Taking checking out of hockey is like taking tackling out of football. When I started playing i did an instructional hockey team for two years. And was properly taught how to check. And what not. I understand protecting kids. But properly teaching them is the answer not just flat out removing it.

#2400702 WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)

We must win!!!!

Either way were doing better than I thought.
