#2521383 2014 Memorial Cup

Posted by DeGraa55 on 21 May 2014 - 09:44 PM

I hope he turns into his uncle

My god I'd love to eat some crow and have that happen. That's literally EXACTLY what this team needs....

I just don't see it :(. Hope to god I'm wrong!

Vanek's a very good top-six forward, but, truth be told, he's basically Franzen. Would you want Franzen with a $7.5M cap hit for seven years? (And don't forget the NTC/NMC.)

What an insult to vanek. He will NEVER be as bad as Franzen.

I like vanek as many do but I'm pretty sure no one wants him at 7.5m. Now 5m? yes! 6m with a shorter deal maybe 4 years? Yes. But not 7.5m and long term like he will probably get. I fully expect him to get 6-8m range for 7 years. I like vanek and want him on this team but not for that price. And I HATE long term deals in older guys. Idc who it is any deal thats long term and for guys older than 34 or 35+ is bad. It can't bring anything good. And I have yet to see one case where it has.

#2519701 Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 08 May 2014 - 04:38 AM

You know if we swapped out tootoos heart and brains for franzens we would have a 40 goal a year player who hits and fights and most importantly still does the great things like that video show.

#2519550 ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins

I can't believe a Habs team coached by Michele Therrien is this much better than the Red Wings. But, credit where it's due.

Their GM knows how to build a team and make proper trade deadline acquisitions.

Ideally, I'd like to see the Wings add 2 big guys with speed and toughness to fill the 1st and 2nd line holes. But maybe they can slide a couple bigger dmen up since there seems to be a log jam on the blue line.

Are you serious????

#2518970 Now some gritty forwards.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 02 May 2014 - 08:36 PM

Well we had a guy that had grit and could fight and score 10+ goals he just didn't have size. And he ended up buried in GRR. As much as I agree we need it I'm sure holland is convinced we will win without it(which has never been the case).

We used to have the grind line. We also had homer who showed grit and toughness by getting abused every game in front of the net. Both of which were severely lacking.

#2518737 Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

Posted by DeGraa55 on 01 May 2014 - 05:11 PM

Can we please shelve the "kick the tires," "we like our team," "(player x getting healthy) is our deadline acquisition," and "our PP is our enforcer" jokes alongside "(player y) is lazy and sucks," and "what's to stop Chris Chelios from..." as tired?  I'm begging you, please.  This board needs new material.
PS:  The beard quote is pretty great.

If I may ask. Why stop those quotes? I mean yes they are overused. But they're FACTS. Proven facts. Look at ken Hollands track record...it's exactly who he is and what he is doing. Now can he change? Yes. Will he? I'm not sure only time will tell.

#2518587 scenario: if McLellan gets fired, bring him back as PP coach ?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 01 May 2014 - 03:57 AM

I wouldn't be surprised to see him fires but if he is I think he will get a head coachin gig somewhere.

But to answer the question....yes I would take him back.

#2518504 Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 April 2014 - 11:24 PM

Oh yeah that fearsome power play where our point men hopelessly try for clappers from the point with absolutely nobody who can tip it in and bang it in the defenders shins 9 times out of 10

Yes that one.... you remembered! ;)

Is calling someone a clown really necessary?

Yes when what someone says is funny. Am I not allowed to laugh at what I believe to be a joke? Or if they put zero thought into something...

If you find that insulting well...I just don't know what to say to that.

 Holland overpays in trade yet tries to under pay the UFA's out there... I think he has it backwards.
That  being said, I would also take Kesler for Helm, Smith and 1st.  But as I mentioned in the other thread, what about throwing Edler in? What would have to be added to make that blockbuster?  I personally would throw Franzen in along with Almqvist.

Adding in Franzen for elder? No that wouldn't get it done. If any GM actually watches Franzen play they'd realize just how little worth he has.

#2518320 Red Wings expect changes for 2014 - 2015

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 April 2014 - 03:42 AM

I have a question. After seeing how smith played with kronwall(great for those who may struggle with the answer).

And we still have Ericsson and dekeyser so WHY DO WE NEED A TOP 4?!?!??!???

Unless someone is planning to be moved? I mean I'd like a right handed guy but this kind of blows my mind.

#2518249 Remember when the Pens locked out Michigan ticket buyers?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 29 April 2014 - 06:44 PM

I don't see anything wrong with it. A business owner doesn't want to sell tickets to a certain group of people. It's fine by me.

#2517796 What Happened to Nyquist?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 27 April 2014 - 07:39 PM

If everyone is saying that Nyquist met up with a far superior team, like the Bruins, then is it time to finally say this quick, small Euros need to go? Because Boston isn't going anywhere. We need to be more like them to win a cup. Aside from 02, the Wings have always had grittiness in their lineup. And even in 02, they had some...

Not all small euros no. No one is saying the small euros can't work. You just need bakance. Add some size and we be fine.

#2517781 WCQF - Series F - Blues vs. Blackhawks

Well this just pisses me off.

My god did I read that right?

I know I know. Options are s*** an s***ty.

#2517779 The Franzen Hate.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 27 April 2014 - 06:54 PM

Filppula: on pace for 63 pts
Franzen: on pace for 62 pts

Fil costs about a million more than Franzen, so Tampa should buy him out right?

Franzen buy out a no brainer? U ppl live in a bizarre fantasy land
Hudler: on pace for 59 pts and he costs the same as Franzen. Calgary definitely going to buy him out too *rolls eyes*

What a clown. Do you watch hockey? Fil plays defense and actually makes an effort. Franzen floats floats and does some more floating.
