3. Out of 12 shots

How many goals have we scored? Last two games were 1 for 5.

Brunnner was his own worst enemy though. If he would been on detroit a third line he would still be in the nhl.

But his terrible attitude and lack of defense(a reason why the wings most likely didn't care if he stayed it not...specially since Tatar is doing what Brunnner did just better).

#2555917 Danny DeKeyser out for weekend with upper body injury

Posted by DeGraa55 on 12 December 2014 - 02:33 AM

I though DD hasn't looked as sharp with his passing for the last week or so. It might be a hand injury that's been bugging him.

Ericsson has really been playing great lately nobody seems to mention around here. Smith had his best game since returning from injury. I thought the defense played one of its best games against Toronto. Can't believe we never got two points out of it

Yes I completely about Ericsson. He is back to usual steady self. He has been very solid.

It also makes one believe that his finger injury truly affected his off season and the start if this season.

#2555752 Jimmy sucks in a shootout Howard

Posted by DeGraa55 on 11 December 2014 - 02:29 AM

I hesitate to post this because I don't really feel great about continuing this thread, but a lack of scoring isn't an excuse for being poor in the shootout. We can't score 4 every game, we're gonna have to win a shootout sometimes too.

Correct but scoring 2 wins us the game.

Also even IF Howard stopped the second shootout goal would the wings actually score?1. Remember howie isn't the only one who is terrible in Shootouts it's literally the whole team.

How about we score MORE THAN ONE FREAKING GOAL. Then we don't have to worry about it.

Strongly considering banning Jimmyemeryhunter for posting something so offensive on the forums. That video is clearly a violation of some rule and I want that minute of my life back. (Yes. I made it a minute).

Really you last a minute?

And I won't even watch it...based on everyone's comments!

#2554777 Tomas Tatar Appreciation Thread

Posted by DeGraa55 on 08 December 2014 - 06:31 AM

Let's get back on track here and stick with the topic, which is the Tatar appreciation thread, not the Weiss debate thread.
I didn't honestly expect this kind of start out of Tatar, I think a lot of us were focused on Nyquist emerging as the young goal scorer this season, but it's been a pleasant surprise to see Tatar scoring out there as much as he has been. I hope it keeps up and he stays consistent, and it's been exciting to watch this far.

Ya I completely agree. I rememer reading an article I think on my nhltraderumors about fans wanting to trade Tatar for a 20 goal a year scorer or better kind of player. The guy for a on to say about how Tatar is that guy we wanted he just hasn't proven it yet.

And as te season is playing out it certainly looks like he will hit 20 no problem and should flirt with 30.

And yes I was one of those fans I got no problem admitting that. I've wanted holland to pick a direction either more youth or win now. And holland is just going down the middle Of the road doing both.

But if they wish to acquire a big name player rather it's forward or defense it's going to have to involve one of nyquist Tatar mantha Larkin mrazek smith or dekeyser. So we could continue to stand pant which I don't have an issue with either but they need to get a rookie or two up now. Maybe like pulk and oullete.

Not exactly a Probert McSorley classic ey

That what happens when the fight involves two people that have tripped over the lines on the ice more than punches thrown in to heir career.

But as a red wings fan you don't get to see fights so you take what you can...

You didn't see?  One of their players fought Abdelkader really fast in front of the net when he went for a loose puck!  And another one fought Nyqvist in the back when he was in the corner protecting the puck!  There's fights galore out there!  You gotta keep your eyes open DeGraa55, they're tough to see when the refs don't actually give them fighting majors.

So how many times were you dropped on your head as kid? Or was it the lead based paint chips?

Because a per game estimate is a far better predictor of what they'll do in a single game than their recent season totals would suggest. You'd be correct if they were playing the emtire season together, but they're not.

I agree after Weiss played one game this season is statistics per game means he will score 164 goals a year.

I've been as hard on the Weiss signing as anybody, so it's great to see him contribute. Although I won't get my hopes up till he proves he can be consistent, since as you all remember Weiss started last season with a couple early goals as well.

I want for nothing more than to be wrong about Weiss but I agree in the continue to wait and see approach. This team NEEDS him to be a second line center.

Always Franzen.

People aren't lining up to give away 2nd line centers, though.  And we had one, in Legwand, and it didn't work.  And it cost the team one of it's more highly-thought of prospects AND a pick. That's the kind of talent it's going to take to acquire another one, and there aren't really any 2nd line centers as UFA's at the end of this year (the typical player you can get in a trade in the middle of the season).

And to think, Legwand is playing top line minutes with the Senators and also playing on their power play... hmm... they're equal to the Red Wings anyway, at least looking at points (3 points behind with 2 fewer games played).

Ya I would've liked to have seen him back but we wouldn't of had room for cleary and the possibility of Alfie coming back.... So ya no room for a second line center who partially Carried us to the playoffs.

Before I make the following statement here's my disclaimer:  I am not saying Dan Cleary contributed to scoring.  I am saying that it seems like Cleary's presence allows Babs the flexibility to put guys together who CAN score.
Cleary has played five games.  The Wings won 3 and lost 2.  BUT in those five games they scored 3,4,3,5 and 4 goals.  This coming from a team who couldn't score more than two for the first 10 or so games.  Maybe something else is causing it.  Maybe it's better line combos.  Maybe it's a statistical anomaly.  I don't know.  But we're scoring goals right now with him in the lineup.  I wouldn't change anything until the opposite is true.

Great observation. Maybe he is making a difference.

I'll also say I dislike cleary a lot. I believe he is past his prime. BUT. I think if he is legitimately used as the 13th or 14th forward and only fills in for Injury that's actually not too bad. He isn't a young kid that's needs to play 80 games a year.

You also know he will work hard in practice to be ready when he is actually needed.
