At least Howard, smith and glendening have shown they got some balls. What about anyone else?

#2471840 Franzen having trouble processing information

That well explains his play for the last uhhh how many years?

"Struggling to process things on ice"

Like how to move his feet or hit or put forth effort etc etc

Maybe Holland will get smart and use a buyout...or not its worth hoping for.

Instead of booing Alfie they should be cheering for Quincey.

Holland I just want to say thank you. Imagine if you didn't over sign the old useless over the hill players and we play guys like jurco, Nyquist, sheahan, or even too too all year long.

I just want to know what can cleary, Sammy, Miller, eaves or Bert give us that Nyquist, sheahan, jurco etc etc can't.

#2466050 No Suspension for Quincey's Hit on Getzlaf

They were going to suspend him. But then they realize its more severe of a penalty to the Detroit red wingsto just let him play.

I agree but it doesn't need to be a goon. Guys like lapointe and shanahan were the best. Guys who can do a little everything and but also have the toughness to hit and fight when needed. We've seen glimpses from like Smith and Ericsson but not enough.

Guys who use their body, can share, score, hit and sometimes fights are what we need. Unfortunately they're hard to find especially since wed rather keep our undersized pass first players over guys that we NEED.

Too much and Neal didn't get enough.

The fact that get Neal got five...he shouldn't get more than five. But since the pens are the golden girls of the NHL Thornton will get double what he actually deserves.

i remember getting sh*t on by alot of people for saying he was overrated when we signed him, i also didnt like the alfredsson signing just because the cap number was 5.5 for a 40 yr old player , i can live with the alfredsson signing cause its 1 year but even if we gave him say 4 million instead we'd have flexibility and be able to call up ahl players
ah wellalso cause the cap number is going up 7 million i just hope holland doesnt feel like he has to go out just sign any joblo , like i said last summer rather keep the money till the right moment arrives ( a real star is available although it rarely happens now ) or let the kids play and keep money for the future raises (nyquist , tatar etc.. )

I agree I didn't like the Alfie signing either.

I personally still think its in the teams best interest to let DAT and z center their own line so they can match up well against other team top 2 lines. And the money we had and have coming io in free agency should be to put legit wingers around them.

The Alfie Sammy Quincey Bert cleary and if we didn't sign Weiss money would get us two really good wingers for each z and DAT. Then you could plug in your franzen Tatar nywuist Abby etc etc where ever Babcock sees fit. And whoever's left plays with helm(when injured Anderson) on the third line.

But instead we insist on old broken players and guys who don't like to score.

#2462627 I'd like to talk about this off-season/next season

Posted by DeGraa55 on 09 December 2013 - 10:55 PM

The new CBA, specifically the cap recapture provision, specifically the part that states that the penalty applies to the team that originally signed the deal, not the team that owns the player when he retires.
Plus, many other things related to the "business world that is called the NHL"...

Just more reason to buy him out.

He is a 25 goal scorer that brings nothing else to the table.

Oh, well you don't think he should be hurt so it's all good.  Thank god it's as cut and dry as that.  Do you have any idea how Orpik was actually injured, or were you just basing this assessment on your obviously profound medical knowledge?  Thornton wasn't being a jackass, Orpik is just not tough enough.  Right.
Keep blaming the victim dude, that's always a good call.

Or maybe you should use your god given eyeballs and watch the replay. It didn't look like it was serious enough for anyone to get injured. His head didn't hit the ice so its not that...his shoulder did so maybe its an injury related to that but why a stretcher? The 2-3 hits weren't that hard either....I'm sure orpik has been hit harder.

Thornton tripped Orpik - he put his leg behind to prevent Orpik from balancing. I think this is overstepping by Thornton considering Orpik didn't do anything outside the rules. Initially I thought he was the one who kneed Marchand - that is worth some retaliation - but that should be done to Neal. I'm actually wondering how serious the injury to Orpik was because he didn't look like he banged his head hard on the ice or got hit too bad from Thornton - i've seen far worse do the same damage. Anyways - we will see what Shanny does with this. I can see Neal getting away with nothing and claiming it was an accident.

Even though it wasn't an accident....but I sadly it wouldn't surprise me.

Also I feel like orpik shouldn't of even been hurt....idk. I think the only reason this is being discussed is because he left on stretcher which i don't know why he needed to.

There was nothing wrong with the hit on Eriksson. Why would orpik need to fight Thornton? If he wanted to fight anyone for a cheap shot it's Neal.
Gutless on thorntons part. Prick deserves at least 10.

Well there was something wrong with the hit. The defenseman left erikson out to get nailed. But remember players don't always see the hits as they happen and they are the result. Erikson was also coming back from an injury that's why Thornton went and challenged him.

Then Neal kneed marchand in the head which he deserves a huge suspension for. And Thornton was on the ice for this. He should've gone after neal but he immediently went off the ice so Thornton then grabbed orpik and he fell which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem is once orpik fell Thornton then hit him two or three times for sure(may of been more but hard to see with so many people grabbing him). And Thornton should get 5 games for it. But this would've been avoided if orpik would've fought him earlier or if Neal didn't go to bench.

Orpik should've fought him the first time two cheap shots on bruins players led to it...Thornton will get a suspension but I don't blame him.

This makes me want to puke.  We should roll this into the "retaliation" thread just so everybody can get a good look at what the "code" has become.  Hit a guy clean, and some mongoloid comes along and cripples you just for the sake of being a tough guy.  Ugh, how can people even pretend that there's some sort of honor in NHL fighting these days?

Kneeing a guy in the head is clean? LOL.
