#2420105 Talking Tootoo

Posted by DeGraa55 on 15 June 2013 - 09:31 PM

LOL.  So Holland signed him to a 3 year deal at 1.9 million per season because "he's not the type of player Holland likes"  Really?  He rode the pine in the 2012 playoffs, too.  Is he not the type of player Barry Trotz and David Poile like either?  Coaches and GMs like the type of players that help them win.
Fourth liners are expendepable? Drew Miller clearly wasn't expendable.  Darren Helm isn't expendable.  The Grind Line wasn't expendable.  4th liners that do their jobs and contribute aren't expendable.

Actually they're all expendable.

The playoffs have not yet had a sell out, though, they've definitely had sell outs this year. I bought tickets this afternoon and there was a line in the middle of the day - which I'm not used to. Anyway, the guy behind the ticket counter said this Friday's game might well sell out.
You can buy tickets a http://griffinshockey.com

You sure? Even dollar beer Friday nights didn't even get sellouts.....its a shame really all the talent that's here.

I'm also listening. I wish they would televise these games. Andersson, Tatar and Nyquist could be our third line next year. What do you guys think?

I've been saying this for awhile now.

#2416907 Wings interested in Stalberg and Bickell

Clarkson and Horton are other options maybe.
Would be nice to see what the UFA list is (right now)

WWW.mynhltraderumors.com. has a list iirc. Problem is there isn't much top end talent which we need...we got all the depth in the world for our bottom 6.

#2416905 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 01 June 2013 - 08:39 PM

Franzen buyout is complete nonsense.
s***e thread.

Agreed. It won't happen. And we will regret it down the road.

#2416748 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 01 June 2013 - 02:39 AM

You win a hockey game only by outscoring your opposition, out hitting, out forechecking and out fighting is nice, but if you do all that and get outscored you still lose.
Franzen is guilty of floating, and of not playing as physically as he's capable of but he is one of the most consistent goal scorers in the entire league.
Clarkson is not a better player than him, he's had a hot season and a half but if you think Franzen is inconsistent then you're going to be sorely disappointed by Clarkson who before last season had never even hit 20 goals in a year. He's hardly worth the 5-6 million a season he's going to cost.
If you want to add a Bickell, you can easily do that without letting Franzen go, but Bickell is not going to make the top 6 any better. The only one of the players you mentioned who would be worth pursuing for a top 6 spot would be Horton, and we'd be better served having him and Franzen. Rather than him and Bickell, or him and Clarkson.

Sorry stopped reading when you said franzen is most consistent goal scorer. Then I realized you're trolling me...

Omg I would of moved both maybe one more guy for lucic. Remember he was in their dog house. Heck I'd of moved both for a second and third round pick. We don't need either or have room.

I like fil don't get me wrong but we have bigger needs in fa!!!

#2416720 Franzen Buyout?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 31 May 2013 - 10:53 PM

Why do we need 2 of those 3 guys?
I like Horton as much as anyone but even at his absolute best he's only going to match what Franzen produces not exceed it. Clarkson is even more of a gamble considering his career average before his 30 goal season is around 15 a season.  Bickell is an upgrade on Abdelkader but you can add up every goal he's scored in his NHL career and only be slightly ahead of 1 season of Franzen's production.
On top of that, Horton and Clarkson are both going to cost more than Flip wants, and likely a few million more than Franzen for what at best will be the same production.
Contrary to the saying, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

So you made the mistake of thinking hockey only involves goals which it doesn't. It also involves check, ing, forchecking, back checking, fighting etc etc

Franzen does nothing but score and even that isn't consistent. Bickell even if he is not getting goals will be a physical prescense and will screen the goalie. Clarkson is much better all around then franzen.

And yes they will cost more that's why we need two and franzen gone. To improve the overall team.

But once again it makes too much sense and it won't happen. Remember? "We like our team". Same old beat up guys every with little to no changes and we expect better results!

#2416701 Draft position?

Hmm it took me to the prospects ranked in order? Not mock draft.

I hope Anderson Nyquist and Tatar are together. That can be our third for next year.

#2416388 Wow... Danny Cleary

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 May 2013 - 08:49 PM

The dude is a warrior but we don't have room for him thanks to Holland. I'd rather have him over Sammy, Bert, eaves, too too, cola, and Quincey. But thanks to Holland were stuck with the latter and no room for clearly

#2416368 The *unrealistic* 2013 off-season thread

Posted by DeGraa55 on 30 May 2013 - 08:08 PM

Unrealistic? I trade monster for quick. Trade bert for ovi. Trade Sammy for bossa. And trade Quincey for doughty.

I don't get the point of this thread. And bickell is a second or third line guy that will cost well over 1m. Prolly closer 2.5m

#2412129 Poll: If you could pick any 20 players to start an NHL franchise with.

Posted by DeGraa55 on 26 May 2013 - 12:46 PM

I'd build my team with the best combination to win now and later (i.e. young players with lots of prime left). Of course no concern for the cap, and I'll try to build it not like an all star team, but with "bottom 6" type players in the bottom 6 (i.e. good defensively and/or hard hitters). Here we go:
Rick Nash - Sidney Crosby - Patrick Kane
Anze Kopitar - Steven Stamkos - Claude Giroux
Mike Richards - Jonathan Toews - Dustin Brown
Milan Lucic - Patrice Bergeron - David Backes
John Tavares, Jordan Staal
- On line one you have the big power forward Nash, the flashy and speedy Kane, and the of course Crosby who's very good defensively if needed. The opponents will never be able to focus on one threat on this line as they can all score and pass more or less
- Line two is all centres but the wingers have experience playing there. Kopitar's defensive strengths will cover for Stamkos' pure offensive focus. All 3 of these guys are electric when on their game.
- Line three has two centres for important faceoffs, captain serious in between two other captains who are gritty and can hit hard. Richards is also one of the best in his own zone and on the PK
- Line 4 also has two centres, with one excellent defensive forward in Bergeron surrounded by two huge bruising forwards. You're gonna be hurting when you're out against this line.
- With Tavares and Staal in the press box you have two guys who can step into the top and bottom 6, respectively, if necessary due to injury
Zdeno Chara - Erik Karlsson
Duncan Keith - Shea Weber
Drew Doughty - Kris Letang
Alex Pietrangelo
You won't have to worry about matchups with this D-corps, roll them evenly as they can go head to head with the best in the business. Karlsson's offensive inclination is balanced by Chara's defensive one, but that's not a huge lean for either of them who are both very good at both ends. Keith and Weber are basically the perfect balance of top tier ability at both ends of the ice, as is Doughty and Letang. Pietrangelo is one of the league's best as well and he can slot in to replace anyone if necessary with minimal disruption.
Henrik Lundqvist
Jonathan Quick
Simply the two best goalies in the league today so it's an easy choice. However, If you're looking for a goalie who is more suited to the backup role, slot in Craig Anderson or Roberto Luongo instead as both have played 2nd fiddle for long periods and performed well when called upon.

I pretty much agree with this. Except I would have DAT on the third or fourth line. Then when he goes replace with staal.
