#2525144 Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill

Posted by DeGraa55 on 22 June 2014 - 03:27 PM

could be a luongo schneider situation, hopefully we can trade one away for something good.

I don't think it will be at all.

Cause even if mraz lives up to his hype i see the goalies doing 50:50 for a couple years. Then Howard can resign as the backup or go elsewhere. But mraz will be fairly cheap for awhile.

At the end I the day our goalie sitatuion IS THE LEAST of our concerns for awhile.

#2524639 Todd Bertuzzi will not be re-signed

Very surprising. Holland only goes for washed up veterans, so it's mind boggling why he didn't throw a 3 year offer at him.

Even more mind bogglig why haven't Sammy Bert and Quincey been given matching
Deals yet?

LOL, yes I read that, but there is no way Cleary will play in the NHL again. It is only for show, to make good on that promise.

Like to wager on that? I bet he starts the season IN THE TOP SIX.

#2524373 Trading up?

Posted by DeGraa55 on 18 June 2014 - 07:32 AM

I'm typically in the the trade propescts for proven players camp. I'm also ok with trading veteran guys so we can get highly rated propescts and picks in certain situations.

Guys like Franzen, Ericsson and kronwall I'd consider moving even though they're home grown.

Guys like Stevie, lids, z, dat I don't think I'd ever trade them. And that's because of attachment and loyalty. Some loyalty is good to certain players(holland is too loyal). I mean when dat has only one year left the hockey smart thing to do would be trade him for a first. But IMO you only do that if he requests a trade. Because of the loyalty and commitment of each side involved.

Guys like Franzen and Ericsson are not the face of the organization so it's much easier to part ways with them than say dat or z.

Why so negative, bro?

Well toucan call it negative I whatever. But I said the same thing last off season. Said we would finish in the 6th through 10th range and look what happened.

Now were doing the same s*** again just now they're all a year older lol.

#2524052 Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins

Posted by DeGraa55 on 16 June 2014 - 03:56 PM

Abdelkader?  ...but as I said above.  I'd rather have the energy line of:  Miller - Helm - Abby,  as our fourth line.
Then either of those two (Gazdic or Thorton)

Thornton helm Abby

Now that's a line I could get excited for.

#2524039 Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins

I like Thornton and I would take him on the team. But actually he isn't what we need.

WE NEED a shanahan or probert type. A guy that can fight AND score. Even McCarty could score some. IIRC Thornton doesn't score much at all he is just a goon.

But since were most likely not going to add what we NEED Thornton would be an ok band aid fix....that Babcock wodnt use like tootoo lol

#2523631 Spezza Requests Trade

Posted by DeGraa55 on 12 June 2014 - 04:04 PM

They didn't score 20 a year but they were + players. They at least kept the puck out of our net. You could take all the -'s of the Grind Lines entire careers with the Wings and it would be about equal to Spezza's -'s from just last year.

To put it as clearly as possible because you don't seem to be getting it...when Spezza is on the ice, the puck goes in his net more than he and his line-mates can put it in the oppositions. Until he can change that he'll never be able to play under Babcock.

Haven't we learned by now + - isn't really a good stat. I mean look at his team. When you're on a bad team your stats will look worse simple as that.

#2523588 Spezza Requests Trade

Posted by DeGraa55 on 12 June 2014 - 08:38 AM

Spezza is a good player, but not what this team needs, I think they already have the skills available that Spezza would bring (at least in the near term)

I disagree he has decent size IIRC. And is a short term answer at 2c until we see if Weiss will be and a long term answer at 1c once dat retires. He is a perfect guy to have for the next 4-8 years depending how long he maintains his level of play.

Yup just looked 6 3 220. AND for those who don't know....IS A RIGHTY

#2523494 Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..

Posted by DeGraa55 on 11 June 2014 - 11:19 AM

I am about to take Corsi stats outback and take a huge dump on it

That's cute. Then just look at your stats on NHL.com. It still doesn't change the fact that smith had more points in 5on 5 play then kronwall or any ither defenseman with us. So that means he should be on the PP much more than he was.

#2523476 The Franzen Hate.

Wait, what? Vanek? He was a ghost in the playoffs

Did you even watch the Canadians? Hell even NBC guys commented in it a couple times. He was always a threat and putting pressure on the opposing team.

no no no to re-signing Monster and Alfie. They cannot stay healthy enough. We are going to have the yearly Z, Franzine and Helm injuries. Its fact and we need less players that get hurt every year. Monster has a constant record of injuries yearly.

Agreed. Specially when there's like Nabokov Thomas and Brodeur who could be our back up.

#2522974 Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..

Posted by DeGraa55 on 06 June 2014 - 08:36 AM

I never understood that sentiment, to me it makes zero sense. "Is player X going to win us a Stanley Cup? No, so you don't add him"...
No single player can win a Stanley Cup, that is why you need to add "pieces".
A better question would be, can player X help us win games? Will he make us a better team? Yes, so you add him.
I think Boyle does make us a better team, but would he be my number one choice? No. Do we need to add other pieces besides a Boyle to help us win the Stanley Cup? Absolutely.

With Boyle we could have something like...
Kronwall - Ericsson
DeKeyser - Smith
Ouellet - Boyle
Lashoff

OR

With Niskanen we could have something like...
Kronwall - Ericsson
DeKeyser - Niskanen
Ouellet - Smith
Lashoff

Which one loos better? I like option two better but option one wouldn't be the worst thing, and is certainly an upgrade over last year, in my opinion...

Kronwall smith
Dekeyser Ericsson
Oullete marchenko

Looks much better IMO. Unless there a few key players added we won't be competing for the cup so let the young guys get better and more experienced. They're also good enough to help us keep the stupid streak alive.

And it's perfectly fine to have the attitude of is player x going to help us win a cup. That was my attitude last year. What could Alfie and cleary bring that nyquist and jurco couldn't? Nothing except leadership and experience which we got plenty of. You only sign Boyle and Alfie if they're the missing piece to winning a cup which they aren't. Were too far away so signing them is pointless when we got other(better) players all ready in GR.

#2522813 Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.

Ticketing fans for tucking in their jersey.

That's actually a good idea....some people lol
