We played our worst today and it took the Hawks till the third to break through. Going to be a different game Saturday I promise you that, all we need is one win out of two here.
Really miss DeKeyser's puck-moving ability and speed on defense. They gotta find a way to control the puck and get some shots on Crawford in the third.
Steal game 1 and watch the Hawks implode. The pressure is heavily on their shoulders. Also, funny that Quennville is playing Carcillo over Stalberg. A dumb, penalty machine over a good hockey player? Please Q, keep making these moves it's one of the reasons you've never beaten the Wings in the post season.
Well I'm just about to go upstairs and give the beard its post round 1 trim.
This enables the Wings to win 14-3, led by Datsyuk's goal and 13 assists. Franzen, ever streaky, with all 13 goals. Leftwinger's head explodes trying to comprehend Franzen v Hossa.
Cleary has been a beast in front of the net, especially the last couple games. Even if he isn't putting up many points, he has been very valuable on that line
You are correct, in this case I just feel Mule-Fil-Clears was a horrid combo. It's not Clearys fault that the two big sluggers on that line had zero chemistry...but now he has Fil and Z, time will tell now. he seemed to be gaining a bit of steam so we shall see. Nothing I would love to see more is "Clutch Clears" again!
I am calling for the rare and elusive hard fought 4 game sweep by the Wings. You never hear anybody call any series that goes less than 7 games a hard fought series. Its always if the scrappier, less talented team pulls it out, its in a 7 game series. Seems weird that there are never 4 or 5 game series that all go down to the wire?
4 games, all go to OT, Wings magically win every OT game. With no carnival act shootouts in playoffs, Hawks can't rely on the slo-mo Kane borderline illegal shootout goals to win.
I called Hawks in 6, but the Wings have me really wondering if they can knock off the powerhouse Hawks. If the Wings get a split in Chicago, I think they'll take the series. If they lose the first 2 games, they'll have a hard time crawling out of that hole.
I'm a realist... Chicago will not be shooting at a back up goalie in this round. If the Wings win it will be in 6. I just think Chicago had a really easy round 1. However it will be real interesting to see how they handle the Wings 3rd line and conversely how the wings handle Chicago's third line... I think that's where this series is won or lost.
