#2683965 Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

Posted by Euro_Twins on Today, 01:24 PM

I apologize for my constant helm hate every chance I get, but as annoying as that can be, it's just as annoying when also 8n every thread we have to read how helm is great for this team and is the best 3rd line center in the world. He simply is not. I admit, he is also not the worst thing for this team either. I don't like him, some love him. But if I'm to quit, I'd like to also stop seeing the polar opposite.

He's a bottoman 6 player who is overpaid, for too long and will probably be used inappropriately. If he pops up with with a NMC I will go and burn his contract personally and kick Holland in the area where most gm's balls reside.

....continued from DD thread.

So, what's the price for Trouba? Would you part with Mantha? What is WPG looking for?

So basically you'll stop posting how much you hate helm in every thread and every post as long as everyone agrees he's overpaid for too long and he's not a very good 3 center? Sounds fair I guess

The defensive lineup is basically no different than last year.

Marchenko is basically Quincey but without Quincey's "grit" but probably a better passing ability.

In conclusion, I still want a better defensive core before october.

We like our team

He really is...overpaid 4th liner. This is Cleary 2.0.

Lol

#2683210 Glendening signs 4-year, $1.8m AAV extension

Posted by Euro_Twins on 14 July 2016 - 04:28 PM

Yeah, after reading about the extension I went to check out our cap situation and it's pretty ugly. Bad contracts, and a lot of long contracts. I really hope George McPhee likes Howard and Ericsson....

I thought each team can only lose 1 player?

#2682973 For the Kenny apologists, what Holland move would change your stance o

yes. I found a thread in HFBoards that's filled with the best gifs and pics. Most of them are Flashy G's

I found my avatar pic there too

Ya you probably weren't around when flashy used to come round here all the time. His game day threads were priceless. He has mad Photoshop skills

The signing bonus? I'm pretty sure a lot of post 2013 lockout contracts have those. Could be wrong.

No the bonus he turned down in February or March. It was specifically only if he played his final contract year

Holland trading the 16th pick and the Defense man that they desperately need were traded for one single year of relief of Dats contract should wake the rest of them up.  The Jets got a great defense man with our 16th pick.  Holland is the worst part of the Detroit organization, has delayed their rebuild and continues to do so.

Arizona jets?

#2682850 Datsyuk Announcement to Officially Leave NHL

Posted by Euro_Twins on 10 July 2016 - 05:45 PM

This is turning into some creepy fan thread, checking where he lives, his daughters, his wife and ex, how he travels...

A little more research and we can find out which restaurant in Russia he frequently visits.

#2682820 Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

Posted by Euro_Twins on 10 July 2016 - 01:33 PM

Unfortunately the one option I would've voted for isn't on the poll. IMO Datsyuk is the only one out of the 4 that will have his jersey hanging in the rafters. Personally I'd like to see Sergei's 91 up there too, but the way he left for the Ducks makes me doubt that will ever happen. Hank is good, and was definitely a huge part of our '08 Cup. But for an organization like the Wings, you need at least 2 or more Cups to even be considered. So the jury is still out on Hank (maybe he'll lead us to another Cup before he hangs em up). As for Osgood. Always loved the guy. But he was never even close to elite. He was solid, which turned into decent, which turned into dreadful.

Datsyuk left in the middle of his contract. If you're using Sergei leaving to Anaheim as a free agent to go to Anaheim as a reason to not have his jersey retired, you should not be saying datsyuk will have his retired. He bolted to Russia without playing out his contract.

If only they could have made rules to not allow Roy to wear an 4XL jersey back in the day.

Really?

#2682767 This year vs last year: a poll

Posted by Euro_Twins on 10 July 2016 - 05:06 AM

What is their ceiling?  30?  They're small, soft euro trash.  Useless in the playoffs.

Can you stop using the term Euro trash? They are just hitting their prime now so no matter what insults you throw at them or doesn't mean they've hit their peak. It's nice to wish and dream that our unjustified ramblings would magically come to fruition though right?

#2682059 Who do you have as the top 5 Wings of all time..

Posted by Euro_Twins on 03 July 2016 - 11:23 AM

1. Howe
2. Lidstrom
3. Yzerman
4. Delvecchio
5. Federov

If you put yzerman into the 2050 lineup in his prime he would get walked hard and be a bottom 6 player. Lids probably wouldn't be good in 2062

Agreed. His ridiculous argument is using logic that would apply to a skills competition. I've said it before, you have to compare players to those who played in their era because if you dont the opinion will be bias and sound stupid which is what it sounds like putting Zetterberg above Howe.

Completely agree

#2682057 Stamkos to... Tampa

Posted by Euro_Twins on 03 July 2016 - 11:20 AM

So, all the other stuff aside, how much are you guys enjoying the fact that Toronto has likely a worse team if not the same going into the next season? Makes me laugh. I thought for sure stammer would head home. Looks like playing in Canada isn't all it's cracked up to be. Babs will be "feeling the pain" for a while

They got auston Matthews. So not necessarily worse. Also they are trying to actually rebuild properly. They were only going after stammer cause I'm pretty sure shanny would be fired if he didn't even try to get a 26 year old scoring phenom. Especially since Toronto is his hometown and he could help speed up the rebuild. It feels good knowing they'll suck for another two years. But if they keep doing things right they could be a very scary team in 3 years.

#2681829 Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 10:21 PM

What did I make up?

Pierre Lebrun said Radulov always wanted to go to Montreal. I didn't say that.

I was saying that I can see many reasons for the list. I do think making a short list public shows that you have legitimate interest from others. It's like saying "everybody wants me and all this interest is too crazy i need to limit this."

Maybe he would have actually gone to other teams on the list if they offered significantly more than than his preferred team, Montreal.

It is speculation. That's different than making something up. It's speculation based on the info given.

Your speculation or conclusion that Holland "messed this up" doesn't jive with what we know unless maybe you think we should have offered significantly more than the 5.75.

He doesn't get it. Radulov wanted to go to Montreal. Doesn't necessarily mean they wanted him. So he had a list of 5 teams he was willing to go to as a backup and also to raise the value of his contract. It's not hard, but he seems to be having difficulty understanding it.
