$8 million for both would'nt be too bad. Dallas has $10.5 million tied up in Lehtonen and Niemi for the next three years.
Tampa almost $7.4/million, rags have almost $9.25 million, Calgary has $8.3 million, Washington has $7.1million, Vancouver has $7.5, Columbus has $8.2million, Minnesota currently has like $10million, Colorado has $7.35million, Nashville has $7.75 million
Honourable mention, rask is the only goalie on Bruins roster currently so they have at least his $7million cap hit
There was at least three or four teams I left off the list with *only* $7million
McCollum is OK, but i'd just be leery of having two rookies in goal for a full season. Better to ease one in along with a veteran. Howard had Osgood to mentor him for a couple seasons, now Mrazek has Howard to do the same.
Negative. Of course, you can. Not letteraly though, but math can definitely help doing that.
I wish this site had a sarcasm button. I like the analytical part of the game too, I may not always fully understand it but I do think it is a very useful tool
One has to wonder why it took so long? Why didn't we have a guy like this before now? Holland's usually ahead of the curve. My knee jerk reaction is to assume that Babcock didn't care about it. But I don't know, and can't substantiate that at all. Just seems like the same old timey mentality that made him "not care about shootouts" might also apply here.
I'm pretty sure that's inaccurate, at least a bit. Babs was very happy last summer when we got an analytics guy, so much so he let him do quite a bit and eventually took him go to Toronto with him. Guy even got to pick our shootout guys too
...but no, he will play, take a roster spot from a more deserving player, we will lose said player to waivers then Franzen will go back on LTIR shortly after Dats returns and we lose another player to waivers. But that's ok, when 2008 Franzen gets back this year, we won't miss ANY player that may be lost for free, not even that 14th forward Pulkkinen...
But ya, Franzen is healthy and will be on the opening day roster....yippee.
just remember my words when I said that he will cause us to lose players for the next 5 years just so he can "try" to play hockey....but he is so totally worth it and we won't miss ANY player lost...right?
If someone picks up andersson off waivers I won't pose any sleep
It isn't like it's a different ethinic spelling of a common American name, like Niklas. It's a name that will undoubtedly be mispronounced his entire life, and has a specific different meaning in English. They have said they are planning on residing in the US after retirement. Lidstrom managed to have 4 kids and give them names that were common in both Sweden and the US. But, then again, he is the perfect human.
I don't know why you or anyone else for that matter cares what someone else names their baby. Especially someone you have no personal affiliation with. It's a name that probably has meaning to them, is it out of the realm of possibility that kids don't make fun of him and just call him Lou?
Wow..that is possibly the dumbest thing I've read this year. I'm saying that you can't confuse the hype of advertising with reality. All of the ills that exist in Vegas exist in most large, urban areas...the difference is that vegas has decided to make it the rationale for visiting them. Our franchise OWNER has an interest in a Casino..unless you accept the wife subterfuge as reality...do we really want to use gambling as a reason to not expand to Vegas? That seems really stupid
You compare Mickey mouse to casino city and I'm the one who has the dumb post? Just because you've been to Disney world and you saw some stressed out parents does not mean nhl players won't getvdrawn into the tempations of Vegas and start giving the league even more unnecessary drama
"What happens in Vegas" is advertising...I'm not sure you can put much stock in that. I mean...does anyone think Walt Disney World is really the happiest place on earth? I've been there a bunch of times...crying kids, stressed parents, a line of bewildered people waiting to pay $4 for a $1.50 bottle of Dasani water. It's not happy...it's hell.
Are you saying because Disney world over charges for a bottle of water that gambling, drugs and prostitutes don't exist in Vegas by the boatloads? Good to know...
kind of surprising we have serious discussion about it... Towes seems slightly better now and even this statement is questionable. You can't compare these two in their primes. In his prime Zetterberg was not only on par but dominated the best players in the league including Crosby.
So like you just said in his prime z was better. Even now x puts up just as many points and is just as good defensively even with his bad back
