#2377701 Brunner hasn't hit the wall. He has slammed into it.

The guy has only played ~30 games in the NHL, exceeded expectations and already people are starting to call him out? wow

he has more goals and points then Franzen and Filppula, 4th most points on the team, and all that for 1.35 million... I will take it.

#2377697 Red Wings/ NHL April Fools

#2377663 Lashoff sent down to GR

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 April 2013 - 12:05 PM

My concern was that this move was done to make room for Carlo Colaiacovo.  Having seen him play againt the Aeros this past Friday night, I'd have to say there was absolutely nothing remarkable about his play that would warrant having him up with the big club.  I know it was a "conditioning stint", but this guy doesn't look anything like he did when I saw him with St. Louis in years past.  Skinner and Paetsch both looked better than he did on the ice.

On the other hand, Tatar and Mursak looked like big-club players that were playing down.  Mursak was truly a force to be reckoned with and his speed was a HUGE asset and integral to the Griffins getting the win.  All in all, a great first time to see the Griffins, but not a good thing as far as scounting Carlo's potential if/when he gets called up again.

Regs,

Jeff in Houston

They moved him to make room for dekeyser, they traded Husky and sent down Lashoff so we could sign dekeyser and take carlo off of IR. Ya it sucks, but after wednesday the roster limit is gone and we can bring Lashoff back up. Lashoff is still waiver exempt this season, so it would make no sense to put someone else on waivers...

#2377551 Dreger: Wings 'very interested' in Bouwmeester *merged*

Posted by Euro_Twins on 31 March 2013 - 09:54 PM

For the love of god Jay Bo is not has bad as most of you guys have him out to be. He would thrive on our team, most of you would be suprised. He would be a soild top 4 defensman and would help this team HUGE come playoffs.  For me the question is why give up so much youth for another d man. We are already loaded on defense prospects and we just landed DeKeyser. You guys can stop worrying tho because there is no way Holand will add Jay Bo.  In his mind It just doesnt make sense for the price. I would differ from that and go ahead and make a trade.

I would like holland to add a scorer like Cammy or Loui Eriksson ( or anyone good) as are offense needs a huge boost. Everyone is talking about are defense needing an upgrade because of the lidstrom and stuart departure but IMO we need offense for obvious reasons.

In reality I dont think we will make a move beause of the "prices" which is kinda stupid because we have expenable prospects. in my mind we will see another early playoff exit because "we need a scorer"   O and btw we will not be getting Yandle so everyone should forget about that. I gurantee it

this is why Bouwmeester would fit in well here. he doesnt play a grind game and we wouldnt want him to. He would be a soild skating offesive puck moving d man

I don't think anyone thinks he is terrible, nor do I think that people think he won't do well in our system... the main issue most everyone here has, is his cap hit. No matter how you slice it, he is vastly overpayed, and I personally do not want that cap crippling our team with the cap dropping next year.

Not buying this longer season excuse. Its a 34 less game season. This is not a real NHL season. If he's falling off now, how can one expect him not to completely fall off 50 -82 games next season? I mean, he hit the 10 goal mark like a month and a half ago. No one else (minus Datsyuk) has scored more than 10 goals 36 games into the season? This team is pathetic offensively and will continue to get worse with guys like Sammy and either more washed up veterans or small skilled euros that don't have the size, strength, or drive to get anywhere near the middle of the ice let alone the front of the net. Instead, we're wasting valuable roster spots by putting our "grinders" out on top lines to do no more than stand in front of the net (net front presence) not making any sort of cycle or sustained offensive pressure possible. Keep the centers, Datsyuk, Helm, Andersson. And keep Fil only if he centers a line with Z as his wing (still confident they would both benefit from a switch back to their natural positions) Everyone else is expendable. This should be now or never with Nyquist and Tatar, but judging by the minimal opportunities they are getting, I'm leaning more towards never. Let them play or get some draft picks out of them and restart the process with players better fit for the daily NHL grind. One can only patch so many holes before the entire foundation gives out.

We should add another top pairing defensemen because outside of Smith, (hopefully) Dekeyser, and Kronwall...its all mediocrity at best. But, after that, let the D grow on its own. The offense should be the main concern (from a fan's standpoint) now moving forward...and by main concern, i mean red alert! mayday! mayday!

you know he played like 33 games overseas before the lockout ended right?

I don't see how stating a simple fact qualifies one as a downer.

you're almost always a downer

#2376688 Larry Murphy Fired by FSD

Posted by Euro_Twins on 31 March 2013 - 02:28 AM

Wow the person that posted and said the TSN, CBC, and Sportsnet are so much better than FSD. That guy has to be on something, or is just like most Canadians and think their version of the game is so superior to everyone elses - apparently broadcasts included. The ironic thing in reality is that neither are true, as your post supports. CBC is EXTREMELY biased towards ANY Canadian team playing. I too watch a lot of CBC/TSN/and some Sportsnet broadcasts. CBC focuses so much on the Canadian slant that it becomes very hard to watch and take seriously. Sportsnet is the broadcast equivalent to Bush-league hockey, and TSN is probably the lesser of evils.

I'm Canadian, and I find this message offensive towards true Canadians... you know the ones that sit in their garage drinking and not caring what game they are watching or who is commentating, as long as it's hockey

He met Lidstrom only today.

Are you the grinch?

#2376573 Larry Murphy Fired by FSD

Posted by Euro_Twins on 30 March 2013 - 07:28 PM

Mickey and Larry are colour guys.  That's what they do.  They add some colour to the show.

If that means stories, then it's stories.  If it means background, then it's background.

I love the stories.  I'd rather watch a game with my uncle who used to play than a guy who just watches a lot and knows the rules.  That's what Mickey and Larry bring to the table:  It's like watching a game with a friend.

not to mention, they are red wings commentators, not nbc, or cbc, or sportsnet, they are red wings commentators. So when I am complaining about a penalty, it's nice to hear our bcommentators complain too, not say, well it is the refs discretion

#2376554 Larry Murphy Fired by FSD

you have realize that all you redmond/murphy lovers are super homer fans. I mean you all frequent red wings message boards. I honestly could care less about their stupid 'back in my day' stories, the rediculous homerisms. The lack of objectivism, both LOVE fighting, the hatred of all penalties that meant to protect players (even when 10% of the NHL is injured). It'd be nice to have someone on the telecast with an opposite opinion, a little bit of devils advocate.

I never disliked either of them, but they are both not great broadcasters. FSD probably thought it would be better to keep one rambling former player, and then try to get someone more professional, someone with opposing opinions. Clearly redmond is the better of two.

I watch a lot of tsn, sportsnet and CBC. And all those telecasts blow what FSD throws out there.

Ken always opposes mick... and we are all homers for frequenting a wings message board? this coming from a guy with 800 posts...

#2376459 23 man roster question?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 30 March 2013 - 02:27 PM

Yes I hope holland is thinking this and those guys are up full time. How bout a top 9 like this.

Fil- datsyuk- stafford
Franzen- Z- Brunner
Tatar- helm-nyquist

while were at it lets make our top 9 this

Malkin-Datsyuk-Ovechkin

Crosby-Zetterberg-Hossa

Stamkos-Toews-Getzlaf

Why do we always have to put guys in our "projected lineups" that are not on our team and we probably won't even trade for?
