#2682767 This year vs last year: a poll

Posted by Euro_Twins on 10 July 2016 - 05:06 AM

What is their ceiling?  30?  They're small, soft euro trash.  Useless in the playoffs.

Can you stop using the term Euro trash? They are just hitting their prime now so no matter what insults you throw at them or doesn't mean they've hit their peak. It's nice to wish and dream that our unjustified ramblings would magically come to fruition though right?

#2682059 Who do you have as the top 5 Wings of all time..

Posted by Euro_Twins on 03 July 2016 - 11:23 AM

1. Howe
2. Lidstrom
3. Yzerman
4. Delvecchio
5. Federov

If you put yzerman into the 2050 lineup in his prime he would get walked hard and be a bottom 6 player. Lids probably wouldn't be good in 2062

Agreed. His ridiculous argument is using logic that would apply to a skills competition. I've said it before, you have to compare players to those who played in their era because if you dont the opinion will be bias and sound stupid which is what it sounds like putting Zetterberg above Howe.

Completely agree

#2682057 Stamkos to... Tampa

Posted by Euro_Twins on 03 July 2016 - 11:20 AM

So, all the other stuff aside, how much are you guys enjoying the fact that Toronto has likely a worse team if not the same going into the next season? Makes me laugh. I thought for sure stammer would head home. Looks like playing in Canada isn't all it's cracked up to be. Babs will be "feeling the pain" for a while

They got auston Matthews. So not necessarily worse. Also they are trying to actually rebuild properly. They were only going after stammer cause I'm pretty sure shanny would be fired if he didn't even try to get a 26 year old scoring phenom. Especially since Toronto is his hometown and he could help speed up the rebuild. It feels good knowing they'll suck for another two years. But if they keep doing things right they could be a very scary team in 3 years.

#2681829 Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 10:21 PM

What did I make up?

Pierre Lebrun said Radulov always wanted to go to Montreal. I didn't say that.

I was saying that I can see many reasons for the list. I do think making a short list public shows that you have legitimate interest from others. It's like saying "everybody wants me and all this interest is too crazy i need to limit this."

Maybe he would have actually gone to other teams on the list if they offered significantly more than than his preferred team, Montreal.

It is speculation. That's different than making something up. It's speculation based on the info given.

Your speculation or conclusion that Holland "messed this up" doesn't jive with what we know unless maybe you think we should have offered significantly more than the 5.75.

He doesn't get it. Radulov wanted to go to Montreal. Doesn't necessarily mean they wanted him. So he had a list of 5 teams he was willing to go to as a backup and also to raise the value of his contract. It's not hard, but he seems to be having difficulty understanding it.

#2681794 Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 08:09 PM

Just don't sign him, if that length is the deciding factor. Let the fishsticks have him for 6 years, with all that decline to the end, and look for others options.

They offered 7 we gave him 6. We needed a center. What did you want Kenny to do. Tanking is not an option. The illitches would not allow that as long as the streak is still intact. So Kenny did what he could

That backhand shot of his looks lethal

Ya I'm excited. Not gonna lie. If the contract sucks or the last 2 years so be it.

In fact people would have been furious if he didn't sign neilson. He got neilson at a shorter term and dollar amount than his team (nyi) that he was with for his full 10 year career offered and people are still mad. Had he signed lucic, backes, okposo, or any of the big names from today to any of the contracts they signed for people would still be mad. Kenny can never do anything right around here. I feel like he actually did a good job today. Ya the neilson contract length is long, but it's only really going to hurt us the last 2 years most likely. The vanek signing was very good too imo. Helm contract length and dollar was high, but shouldn't really hinder us going forward too much.

I find it funny most people on this forum didn't want radulov at all originally. But when kh failed to get him he's villanized. Had he signed him for $6 million he would be villanized. Lose lose for kh no matter what lol.

Ott won't play more than ten games. Mark it. He's just a random depth signing like Tootoo, only Tootoo could still play a little hockey, too.

Lmao. Tootoo is not anywhere close to being better than ott. Even at this point in their respective careers, or at literally any point in their careers.

#2681719 Thomas Vanek signs 1 year, $2.6m deal with Detroit

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 05:03 PM

Why would folks complain about the Vanek signing? People were suggesting we sign Staal to a "show me" deal. Isn't the same kind of deal Vanek just got? Short term, fairly low money. Let's see if Vanek wants to earn more in 17/18.

$2.6 million is a steal even if he just puts up the same 18 goals 40 points he put up last year

My thoughts exactly. With all the forwards we've signed, I could easily see a package including a forward, Jimmy, and maybe even a pick or 2, to bring in a top blueliner. Fingers crossed!

Well buffalo still needs a goalie...

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 03:10 PM

Who isn't happy on here? I think for the most part everyone is saying its fine for the 1 year...A real low risk signing..

So you want to go personal now? We can if you want.

Didn't want him but of course the Wings sign him at the plus side it's only for 1 year so if it doesn't work out they can just let him walk.

so much for becoming heavier and tougher to play against lol

So the talk of getting "tougher" and "harder to play against" was just to get me through the week?

Meh, not super excited but not unhappy about it, and I did tease about pre-ordering your Vanek jerseys a couple of days ago, so there. Can I read Holland or what.

Honestly. 2,6 millions one year is okay...but Vanek is done unless he agrees to finally compete. He was terrible recently. Slow turnover machine. I think this is mainly to help our powerplay as Vanek still has his excellent hands.

Lol we get a 40-50 point player for $2.6 million and still you have some people who aren't happy

#2681513 Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

Posted by Euro_Twins on 01 July 2016 - 02:19 PM

This is just insane. Holland seems to get worse every single year.

Can anyone remember a decent free agent signing within the last 6 years? I can only think of Hossa.

Oh and he just LOVES locking people past their prime to massive contracts and then being screwed when they can no longer play at an elite level. 6 year contract for a 32 year old? Are you kidding me?

Islanders offered 7 years $5.5 million

What this team lacks is scoring, and so we go out and get a 2-way center who puts up 50 something points in a good year. Granted, last year, he would have led the Wings in scoring (I think), but what we need is s scoring winger to go with him. It feels like, "ok, need a center, who's out there at center, ok, throw some money at him, hey, he signed, i'm done, let's go golf!" like he's dropping a bid on an Ebay auction.
What I think everyone wants out of Kenny is CREATIVITY. To BE the smartest guy in the room like he pretends to be. To take other GM's candy. Granted, he traded the contract of Datsyuk, great, but it doesn't make us better. And it sure won't motivate me to scratch a check for season tickets.

Signing the best available center that was willing to come to Detroit and as you said would have led our team in points doesn't make us better? Yup the math adds up. Ken Holland sucks.

1st of all, it'seems HeleneStJames source...
2nd of all, what was deal in place?
3rd of all, this franchise is so f***ed up that we can't even sign 4th liners.

The deal was a front loaded 4 year contract. That's all anyone knows. You can ***** that he doesn't want to sign here all you want. But obviously Ken tried to get him and missed. But you're acting like he never even tried. A lot of people today acting like children throwing temper tantrums because they didn't get their way. Guess what a lot of players passed on a lot of teams today. We weren't the only ones to get passed up on.
