Janmark's also 6'-1". Hardly an imp.

Six foot a million or get out

#2519245 Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Hossa was offered a contract with the thought that Holland was also going to pay Hudler $3.75M. So that is why Hossa didn't accept Hollands lowball offer to him. So Franzeb's $3.9M and the $3.75M he had set aside for Hudler was more than enough to keep Hossa here. Which as we seen with Hudler and now with Franzen, we would have been better off with Hossa.

Now that you mentioned it I should have picked different lottery numbers last week. It made sense at the time hudler and Franzen had very good years.

disney.com will be our deadline acquisition

#2518222 Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

Whatever the reason, I still don't think its right to block someone from bettering their position.

Why? He signed a contract, he has stated he wants to stay the year in grand rapids.

If I had an employee sign a contract possibly with a no compete clause or something of the like, and it was my say if he is allowed to negotiate elsewhere, and he/she was a valuable employee, I definitely would say no too.

If he is unhappy he can tell Holland he would like to leave, but he is still under contract and until that contract is done he shouldn't be talking to other employers. Same goes with players. They can't discuss new contracts with other teams till the old one ends.

#2517735 WCQF - Series F - Blues vs. Blackhawks

Posted by Euro_Twins on 27 April 2014 - 05:07 PM

I dont think NBC likes to create a lot of controversy like ESPN or CBS during the NCAA bb tourney do...but they do usually at least suggest something.  The fact that the Hawks first 2 goals were both sketchy at best seemed to completely miss them

I disagree. Nbc has no problem creating controversy or stirring the pot when the team in question is not named Chicago or Pittsburgh

#2517674 Was Legwand worth it?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 27 April 2014 - 03:21 PM

Well, I think the "He is Zetterberg 2.0" statement - if people are actually making it - is actually fair enough in the larger context of this debate. The point being, here's a guy who projects as another Zetterberg. And we traded him. For a few games of service from David Legwand. If another GM had pulled that trigger, my guess is everyone here would be laughing at him.

Moving your top prospect is a big deal, especially when it's obviously a last-minute panic move. How many times did Holland say we wouldn't be sacrificing key pieces of our future for short-term payoff?

It stinks. We basically have to re-sign Legwand.

You answered your own question. He wasn't a key piece of our future and had no future here

#2517672 Is the Real Brendan Smith Finally Starting the Show Up?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 27 April 2014 - 03:19 PM

Some caller into 97.1 said Smith should be playing 9 minutes a night at max. The host (Fithian?) agreed and said he couldn't believe that Smith was sometimes paired with Kronwall during the regular season.

Did these people even watch the playoffs?

That's why I font like that radio station. Just look at those corsi stats someone posted. Literally every defense man plays better when they are playing with Smith.

#2517670 What Happened to Nyquist?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 27 April 2014 - 03:15 PM

he got on a hot streak and people decided he was the second coming.

he's simply not as good as everyone was saying.

Your cynicism is always such a ray of desperation around here

#2515966 Do you want Jonas Gustavsson re-signed?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 26 April 2014 - 08:15 AM

I'd resign Monster for a one year deal if for no other reason Jimmy does go on IR from time to time and I don't think Mrazek is ready for #1 type minutes should it be a bad injury.

I'd agree, bit the fact is mrazek will never be ready for those minutes if he doesn't start getting backup time in the nhl.

#2515855 Do you want Jonas Gustavsson re-signed?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 25 April 2014 - 04:15 PM

What are the chances that mrazek bolts if he's not promoted next year? I can see that happening.

He's on contract through the end of next season. I guarantee he will back up Jimmy, they need to know what they've got in him before they 're sign or release him

#2514776 ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

Posted by Euro_Twins on 24 April 2014 - 04:21 PM

Game time prediction - A stray hair falls out of Zetterberg's beard, gets lodged in Tuukka Rask's eye, Wings go on to win.

unless it gives him powers... let's hope for the first one though

#2514634 Howard = Average

Posted by Euro_Twins on 24 April 2014 - 11:16 AM

Even worse if you only used one person from each position! Yes, I was saying he should play the puck more. It's my own opinion and only my own. Anybody else is free to have their own opinion about what he should do. It makes total sense that I was saying what I want when I'm not getting it, and they would say what they want when they're not getting it.

(By the way, I never ever imagined that Howie would, on a whim, decide to start playing the puck in between the last game of the reg. season (which he didn't play in) and the start of the most important games of the year. Although I DO appreciate the fact that he came around to what happens to be my position, THIS IS NOT THE BEST TIME FOR THIS HOWIE!!)

But yeah, I'm gonna say you're wrong here. Had you said "some of" or "a couple of people" I don't think I would have had a problem with what you said. But again, you made a huge generalization, saying "Wings fans" (implying all wings fans), Everybody (meaning everybody!), and Everybody (again!). You didn't stop to think that maybe different people have different ideas about how situations should be handled.

If you look back in the GDT to when that first goal was scored, you'd see that *some* people think he should improve his stick-handling so that kind of thing doesn't happen, while *a few others* think he shouldn't try to play the puck at all.

I don't know where people have gotten this notion that ALL fans must agree on every little thing. That's absurd.
I don't know why changing your mind (if anybody even did), after seeing the other side of the situation, would be such a bad thing.  It isn't.

You're blowing a simple observation way out of proportion. If that's your opinion that's fine, I used opposite opinions as an example, but as I said I have seen many other people jump ship both ways when it doesn't work. I think he should play the puck more as well, if he feels comfortable, but not at the risk of turning it over in the playoffs
