#2617139 Datsyuk Has Ankle Surgery

Let's be clear, I'm not saying that dats will be skating circles around everyone the moment his cast is off (although it wouldn't surprise me) but I highly doubt it will take 6 months for him to get his form back, I say by November/december he is back around %100

as much as I'd like Holland to sign someone new this week, the more I read about going with the kids, the more I get comfortable with the idea.

I just wonder if they will indeed buyout Weiss and really give Larkin a shot at being in Detroit now.

Tatar - Datsyuk - Abdelkader
Nyquist - Larkin - Zetterberg
Jurco - Sheahan - Pulkkinen
Miller - Glendening - Helm
Andersson/Ferraro

Kronwall - Ericsson
Quincey - Dekeyser
Smith - Marchenko
Kindl/Jensen

Mrazek
Howard

still would like to trade Smith and Weiss for a pick or two and then bring up Ouellet as well. Then keep Sproul and Jensen in GR for another year until Q and K are gone or dealt.

To be honest, I'd much rather have sheahan slotted at 2c and the rookie Larkin at 3c until he proves he is able to produce and keep up in the nhl

Well.
P.a. parenteau and mike Richards are on waivers today, when they go unclaimed, both will reportedly be bought out.

He's rh. Could be a good reclamation project. Like Cleary

It was a little ray of sunshine on a long rainy day.

So what do you think of our new Russian?

I love the thick accent and the fact that his English is as good as datsyuks English is. I'm very excited for him after watching some of his highlights. He could be a force in the nhl in a few years, young big power forward

Not sure why you think Franson isn't going to make around $6,000,000... He's 27, Right Handed, and has great size - even though he isn't worth it to me, unfortunately the market favours those characteristics.

This is also only the 2nd summer that limits contract length - meaning the cap hits are going to be higher because you cant circumvent salary anymore...

Already this year:

PETRY - 6 YEARS/$33 MILLION
BOYCHUK - 7 YEARS/$42 MILLION
LEDDY - 7 YEARS/$38.5 MILLION

e_prime:

If Kronwall is making $4,750,000 - Do you think Holland can or will even attempt to justify signing Franson for $6,000,000? He already gave Ericsson the bad long term D-Man contract...

That's kronwalls cap hit cause he got a front loaded contract. He's still making $6million a year

Hudler put up around the same same numbers

No not in his first two seasons. Also hudler got 31 goals and 76 points in 78 games this year. Sounds good to me

Yes but not to the point where their production on offense declines

That is the issue

If goose's sophomore slump was a 27 goal 54 point season I'll be ok with that
