#2500672 Callahan called up from GR.....

Posted by Euro_Twins on 25 March 2014 - 11:12 AM

Ok, I know that I brought this up and so it's on me.  And I definitely don't want to cut your views short.  But let's not make this about Subban, we had enough of it during the Olympics.  I'm sorry I brought it up, I just liked the way he responded after taking a hard hit.
My bad.  Can we go back to Callahan now?

I agree absolutely, and you're right, in the video he responded well, and if he is turning over a new leaf good for him, I just would like to see that persona on ice as well as off ice. Anyways yes back to Callahan

Same, I definitely admire his style of play and makes me pine for the days when Shanny was around. We could use some more guys like that.
That video of PK is awesome. He's such a great role model and character, wonder what will happen when his deal is up at the end of the year (RFA).

Seriously?!? Pk is one of the biggest babies in hockey, takes terrible penalties, and is very very easily rattled. He may be talented, but a role model? Having character? That's not pk you're talking about

And where we play those teams, then we're just gonna have to beat the aren't we?

Some here seem to act as if I'm saying if the teams chasing us win all their remaining games we're still good. I didn't think I had to spell out the obvious. The teams chasing us are gonna win more than they will lose. All I'm saying is the Wings can't count on other teams losing, and they just need to worry about their own games.

The Wings will lose games. So will the teams chasing us. When it comes down to it, they have to worry about their own business, and I simply have faith that they will pull it off.

We just have to beat Columbus tomorrow night. Some breathing room, and a lot less depending on other teams to do the work for us.

yes obviously the wings can't count on other teams losing, no one said they could. All anyone is saying is that with a little help we make the playoffs, i.e. the leafs losing 5 games in a row, or columbus losing consecutive games, philly hopefully loses some consecutive games. You giving us a chance to make up some ground. We can't beat teams we don't play so we can hope for a little help from the teams that are playing the teams we need to lose.

#2500560 Injury Updates

Posted by Euro_Twins on 24 March 2014 - 08:26 PM

Updates from Holland:

Datsyuk: “Don’t know what’s next. I’ll talk to the trainers and doctors to see what’s next, but right now he’s still going through the time he needs to give it a chance to heal.”

Zetterberg: “I don’t know when he’ll be cleared to skate. I’m told at around eight weeks he’ll be cleared for physical contact. I do know before the end of the season he’ll be back skating, but I just don’t know when.”

Weiss: “He had a second opinion. The second opinion was similar to that of the Philadelphia doctor, Myers’ opinion. I think what’s going to happen is he’ll get a cortisone injection, hoping it relieves things. We don’t know if it’s inflammation or if it’s a different issue or if it’s scar tissue. He feels OK going 65, 70, 75 percent, but when he pushes all out he feels pain and when he gets pain he backs back off. He’s been told to push through. He’s pushed through. We’re going to give him another 72 hours and keep our fingers crossed that there’s some progress.”

Cleary: “I think he’s frustrated at the lack of … during the Olympic break he did some things and he had a reaction. He got some fluid on his knee, had it drained then he got some more fluid on his knee. He feels better, but nowhere near where he needs it to be to talk about practicing every day and making a comeback.”

a few positives, pasha and weiss could be back soon, zetterberg will be skating again in the next few weeks, and cleary is nowhere near returning, all positive things :)

#2500477 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by Euro_Twins on 24 March 2014 - 04:15 PM

Well what the hell do you think I'm saying???? On a really good team he'd be a good 3rd line player which is where he's better suited at .... Why would Boston sign him for s***s and giggles ? How stupid of a comment is that?

How about putting him in the 3rd line ? How much better would the bruins be with legwand on the 3rd line

Just because your a top 6 guy with the Nashville predators doesn't make you a top 6 forward everywhere in the nhl

You say legwand will get 60 + pts with the redwings (which he got once in his career , and he's 33 now not 23)I'd say when we're healthy he'd be a perfect 3rd line guy which will give us a deeper team and hed continue to get his 40 pts

I never said jarnkrok would be a sure fire nhl superstar I said he was a top prospect .... And what the hell are you going on about??? Maybe you need to reread posts ...... After jarnkrok was dealt most people were acting like we gave up a tvrdon type prospect who was never gonna be anything in the nhl,a bottom 6 guy when in fact he was a highly touted prospect of ours for years who had finally made a turn with the griffins that's what pisses me off the most

It's as if we would of traded mrazek for legwand instead and people tomorrow would be like ah well mrazek was never gonna play in the nhl anyways he'd lucky to be a backup ... Great trade!

That's what gets to me

highly touted prospects don't turn out to be great nhl players all the time. People were upset about the trade, then there were those who stepped back and looked at the trade rationally, we got a legit 2nd line center(yes he is) for a unproven prospect and a draft pick pretty much, nothing wrong with that trade, because it NEEDED to be made. Jarnkrok had never even stepped on the nhl ice, and we needed someone we knew we could rely on. Maybe Jarnkrok will be a top 6 guy, maybe not, but right now he isn't and he would have been useless for us trying to make the playoffs. We have given lots ok kids a chance to make a name for themselves in the nhl over the last 2 seasons, unfortunately under the circumstances we had to let our highly rated center prospect go, we still have Sheahan, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Legwand, Weiss, Helm and Glendening. I won't lose any sleep over if and buts

#2500445 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by Euro_Twins on 24 March 2014 - 02:58 PM

Jarnkrok is a top prospect and you don't give them up for 33yr old ufa's(doesn't matter he will probably resign here)

And in my opinion legwand is a good 2way center but no way on a good team is he a top 6 guy , I'd say he'd be a perfect 3rd line guy

You talk about how we wouldn't be succeeding with 1 line scoring well it's pretty much been the kids who have taken over and maybe a few others . Legwand has 7 Pts and 3 in one game right?so basically 4 pts in 9 games which is nothing to brag about

Nyquist tatar alfredsson sheahan has been the main guys up front of late ...... I might be a little obsessed with jarnkrok as you say but I think your giving legwand way too much credit , he's not our saviour

what 3rd line center is putting up 45-50  points/year, and being defensively sound?

Actually you're right, I thought we had played more games since Jan 20th. 16 goals in 21 games so prorated to 12 games is 9 goals. Cool stuff.

Yup I hope he hits it for a few reasons, 1. Ken Holland left him to rot for the first 1/3 of the season. 2. Some strange people around here who think he would be a borderline 3rd liner on most teams. 3. He would have 30 goals in less then 60 games.

They can't catch us if we keep winning. A higher seed is a good thing.

Njd are 6 points back, I'd rather them win before a team with 1 point more then us.

As he maniacally laughs.

Don't be stupid. The call was incorrect but I can see why it was missed. Plenty of stuff worse than that in this game alone. That being said, the only reason it was called back was because of the score.

So you're condoning the refs calling a game based in score?
