#2562734 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 12 January 2015 - 07:25 PM

I agree, in part.  My point is that while a solid puck mover is a necessary condition for being a contender, I don't think (given the way we've been playing) it's a sufficient one.  As such, I don't see Holland going out and getting one just to get one.

If, however, we can string together some wins and play well against good teams (i.e. we're better than I think we are) then maybe Holland decides a puck mover is sufficient for Cup contention, and he pulls the trigger.

Right now I think he's trying to figure out which is the case.  If the team wants a puck mover before the off-season, they better prove that they can run with the big boys.

Wait... What? the wings are in the playoff picture. If our team isn't good enough then we need to improve via trade, but we can't do that unless our team magically is better?

You are now entering, the scary door

#2562601 Howard on Sportsnet's list of seven Vezina finalists at halfway po

Jimmy Howard's been one of the league's best starters this season. The Vezina is Rinne's to lose, though.

And his GA ( = groin against) is just pathetic compared to other goalies.

I'm pretty sure gustavsson's groin against average is worse. I could be wrong though

.....and get's hurt only hours after the announcement. That would have never happened to an elite goalie. Pretty average if you ask me.

In all seriousness : The nomination is well deserved, Jimmy kept us in many games and is one of the main reasons this team is in a playoff-spot. I hope that is injury looked more scary than it is and he recovers till the end of the month.

Ya his bad pass pulled groin sv% is s***.

Congrats average Jim!

Wow, this did not take the direction I anticipated.

If you'd like to discuss Mr. Babcock in general, please take it to PMs or start a separate topic.  Much obliged.

Really, it didn't? I was ready with popcorn the minute the thread was created.

He had the option to become a ufa about 6-7 months agao, but the 64m they dangled in front of him was too good to turn down i guess ? No other team would have offered him 8 x8m / yr deal.. for just being mediocre, 30 goals a year, getting to do and play whatever he wants.. only in Toronto do they pay that high for mediocrity and accept such mediocrity

If a point per game players are mediocre then make sure you tell ovechkin and stamkos that new revelation. He might be one dimensional and lazy defensively. But he is anything but mediocre offensively

Ya. I'm all for giving credit/blame where it is due. It was a bad goal, but should he be flogged for it? He knows he screwed up and he made up for it the rest of the game. He isn't one to make excuses and he played as well as he could from there on out. Yes a rookie. He'll learn when to be aggressive and when to stay in position.

I actually like "Van Hagar" over "Van Halen"

For shame.

I'd be ok with trading Tatar for Myers...

Toronto fans are the most annoying just because the sheer volume of them that show up to the Joe.
But in all honesty, they're still some of the nicest people, I was sitting in front of a few Toronto fans a few seasons ago and a guy accidentally spilled a small bit of beer on my girlfriend so he got up, got napkins and brought us two rounds each.
He apologized like nine times and it really was an accident.
And his wife was one of the sweetest women.
She gave me some tums, And an aspirin, she was only in her early thirties but acted like a mother.
Its probably just because I'm so devastatingly handsome, ha.

Honestly aside from a few drunken idiots, I've never seen any wings fan give another fan reason to worry.
And even the drunk guys were put in check by other wings fans...
It may be Detroit, but wings fans tend to be pretty classy people.

Maybe it was cause you looked homeless and she felt bad?
