#2435455 State your unpopular opinion

Posted by Euro_Twins on 08 September 2013 - 12:13 PM

I hate that parents feel an immense need nowadays to overprotect their children, to the point where normal children games are being banned in schools, and a parent starts a protest about a school cause their kid scraped their damn knee. Get over it, boys will fight each other, play football, dodgeball, and insult each other, they are not china dolls, and a few scrapes and bruises won't kill them.

Also please take your kids damn ipads and cell phones away from them and make them go outside, please.

They are lucky, if dats was there he would have made out with a boatload and the burglar wouldn't have even known what happened

#2435171 Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m

Posted by Euro_Twins on 05 September 2013 - 07:02 PM

- So. Pumped. For. This. Season.

- Was that Rask he destroyed on those two early in the video (the shootout and the one where they're wearing the third jersey)?

- I have a special place in my heart for Jimmy Eat World.

- Again: So. Pumped. For. This. Season. Gaaaahhhh.

Rask indeed it was in the first one for sure, not %100 about the second, he has some slick hands though. a few nice goals on Marty, rask, MAF (not as impressive imo) but a lot of highlights against good teams. I am now imaging what he can/will do between mule and alfie. I am thinking possible career year for mule and weiss, and a damn good one for alfie. I hope that line is as dangerous as i picture it in my head :)

Am I the only one getting excited every time I see Helm's name on the roster?? I mean, I am uber-excited to see Weiss and Alfredsson play for the Winged Wheel, they're going to kill it; Helm just breathes life into this team. Can't wait to see him in action again!!

Hopefully he will play again. I am as Holland puts it, "cautiously optimistic"

#2434942 Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)

Posted by Euro_Twins on 04 September 2013 - 11:26 AM

Maybe Alfie can pull Perfect Human Being out of "retirement"?
I bet when Babs tried to feel Lids out re: Would he consider returning?, Lids said, "Sure, Mike, when Daniel Alfredsson is a Red Wing."

Lol that ould be funny. If only we had the cap space

#2434941 What forward is the Red Wings X Factor?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 04 September 2013 - 11:25 AM

Hopefully this poll works (first time starting one)
But what forward do you think is crucial for making this team a Cup Contender?

Weiss because if he turns out to be what we hope we will have two legit scoring lines. If ends up another flip we are back at square one

Not used to 11 not being Cleary.. You threw me for a minute. ;)

it WILL be cleary, and he WILL be in the top 6  :ninja:

#2434832 Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"

Posted by Euro_Twins on 03 September 2013 - 05:22 PM

True.  But the Wings did not hand out an 11-year extension based on how he was when he entered the league.  They did it during his beast mode playoff years.  And while he earns his cap hit now, will he in 3 or 4 years?

That's the problem I have with people referring only to his cap hit and saying he's a value for the money while ignoring term.  If it were a 5 year contract it would be more true, but his contract is a cheat.  His cap hit is artificially low because of the length and backdiving.  So right now I agree $4 mill a year isn't so bad for his production, but it comes at a cost because short of him retiring early to Sweden, the Wings are paying $4 mill a year until 2020.

What will the 38 year old $4 mill a year Franzen look like?  I don't really know, but based on his effort as a 33 year old, I'm not optimistic.

maybe he is preserving his strength so he can still be effective at 38 :)

What's a Teemu, anyway?

It's a type of salami

firefly should never have been cancelled (probably not unpopular, but needed to be stated) and fox is stupid and wouldn't know good programming if they had it right in their palms...

#2434536 New enemies, whom do you fear the most?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 31 August 2013 - 02:45 PM

The East should be crapping their pants.  We were one goal away from the eliminating the Stanley cup champs.

Now we're adding Alfie, Weiss, Helm, Dekeyser, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson and a more seasoned Nyquist, Tatar,Anderson and Smith.

older? yes. but the lack of travel will take a few years off of the Vets and they will all look rejuvenated because of it.

This will be the year we turn our power play around; it will be our enforcer again. (it won't be as great as 2008, but it'll be a heck of lot better than the last few years)

BOLD PREDICTION: within a few years the East teams will start adapting to us, and people will be wondering why the whole league is now playing a "west conference" style game.

so hockey will be more entertaining to watch?

#2434428 Any new Helm Updates?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 30 August 2013 - 05:12 AM

I recently re-watched this on youtube the other day:
It's been so long he's been out, I forgot what a force of a defensive center he was developing into. I hope he can get back to 100% and back to playing to his capability, his hands may never be the greatest, but with his drive, fire for the game and speed he brings, I know he'll add a ton to our current line-up.

While watching this at 6 am on my cell phone, in my bathroom, I found myself cheering for helm and hoping he would score lol
