Moving east would be one of the best things that could happen to the Redwings, unless you thing they like all of those west coast trips, and 10:30 pm playoff games. 

Many of you talk about how the Redwings will lose many of their rivalries, but just keep in mind that none of those even hold a candle to the one they had with Toronto back in the day. Not playing Chicago and St. Louis as much would be the only negative. I won't miss San Jose, Anaslime, or Colorado. 

I don't see how anyone can be against the Wings being reunited with two traditional rivals in Toronto and Montreal and not having to worry about all of those west coast trips every year. I suspect it's for selfish reasons. 

If he retires after next year, he will not get in. 300 goals and 550 assists will be a good total, but not good enough for the HOF. Over 1000 pts and he's a lock. Over 500 goals and 750 assists and he's first ballad.

Those Selkes, Byngs and Cups would help him get in. As would his reputation as being one of the most unique players of all time. 

Definitely think he'd get in even if he leaves after next year. Point totals aren't everything.

They put the puck in the net bud. Nobody else did.  Imagine if Datysuk was playing with players that deserved to play with him. Not players who are barely playing at a 4th line level this year. 

After watching the video MANY times and knowing checks like this happen all the time, Cooke stomped the back of Karlsson's ankle with his skate.  I think it's pretty clear.  Of course we'll never know for sure, and you can bet your ass Cooke would never admit it if he did do it on purpose, but I don't think it was an accident.

edit: The fact that this hit DOES happen all the time without a rash of players getting their legs sliced up only supports the notion that Cooke did this on purpose.  Either that or we are supposed to believe that all hockey players from pee wee on up through juniors to the NHL know how to correctly finish this type of hit without cutting the opponent but Matt Cooke does not?  Boooooools***.

Matt Cooke hasn't changed, he's simply figured out how to disguise his cheap play better.  He now knows he can't just come screaming across the ice and blindside headshot someone, he's got to make his cheapness look like an "accident".

We could just throw everyone off and leave it to the discretion of the team's own arena like they do in baseball. We could have "Mile Long Stadium" and "The Glass Monster" with 40 foot tall boards where over the glass delay of game penalties become a non-factor. Random length and width for each stadium would be entertaining, imagine the ice space in Phoenix with all that extra seating room to spare.

Ya the team that was easily eliminated in the 1st round and then lost the 2nd  best defender of all time while making no major splashes in the FA market, except the addition of Damien Brunner and Jordin Tootoo,  is better than pretty much the exact same lineup that won the Stanley Cup and finished with a worse regular season record than the wings last year before getting hot at the right time, like all Cup champs. The Kings then outshoot Detroit 47-31 on the road, but shots on goal don't equate to wins, where as goals, which the wings had more of today, do equate to wins. Am I really and idiot or do I just purposely say idiotic things.

That obviously wasn't the idea. The point was that it's illogical to try and turn a team game with 40 odd people competing for 60 minutes into simply just "goalie a vs goalie b". No goalie beats another goalie in the playoffs. He and his team beat the other team.

 

We just want a simple way to lay judgment and an easy tool to allow us to praise one goalie as superior. Analysis takes hockey IQ and effort. We like quick and easy and safe.

I see your point.  That's why I never really consider wins in any sport an individual category be it pitchers or goalies. 

Just a little tidbit of history, The Vancouver Millionaires won the Stanley Cup in 1915. The Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) champion Vancouver Millionaires swept the National Hockey Association (NHA) champion Ottawa Senators 3 games to 0 in a best-of-five game series.

I guess this is how Vancouver figures they can say the've won a Cup?

This is totally an aside, but I really really really really dislike puckbunnies.  Holy crap, do they irritate the living daylights out of me.  There's few things more offensive to a female sports fan than other females who are only into the sport to drool over rich men.  You can spot them by their pink hats, pink jerseys, and total lack of knowledge about what's going on on the diamond/ice/field/court.  They make the rest of us look bad.

this thread has officially gone off the hinges. seriously boys? we're complaining about a signing that we haven't even fkn seen. we complain all night about the quincey and smith pairing, the injuries, etc and then Holland wakes up and does something about it. He doesn't tie our hands with a huge signing, no he gets a CHEAP (750k damn near entry level contract) stay-at-home defensemen that can be an asset to them around him. Like I said earlier, Quincey and Smith are BRUTAL together. We've seen it the past 2 games, they just can't play together. Holland gets a straight up stay-at-home defensemen who could possibly be our next brad stuart. Is he going to be Brad Stuart? No. But my GOD from everything i've heard, the guy plays a VERY clean game and did some damage with Demers. Pair him with Smith, allow Smith to play his offensive game and Huskins play his defensive game. "OH MY GOD HOLLAND HOLLAND HOLLAND" REALLY?! We're supposed to be talking about KENT HUSKINS.
