#2486615 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Callahan picks up garbage most of the time. he does have a good shot and scores that way as well. But he crashes the net and drives in goals.

That's good to hear the guy has a nose for the front of the net. Wings could use some of that, too many finesse guys.

Does ist even matter? The guy is not available and even if he were he wouldn't fit with the lowkey professional approach this organization is known for. If Z and D are as humble as it gets others shouldn't even dare to be cocky and arrogant. A former alltime top 5 defenseman wasn't cocky so no I don't think this organization should bring in problem boys.

I can only hope and pray we'll see guys like him or Kadri in a Winged Wheel I despise cockyness and arrogance especially if players can't back it up. I hate the trend of young players coming into this league and acting cocky, selfish and arrogant a prime example would have been Yakupov and his over the top confidence + celebrations. Hockey isn't soccer, basketball or Football someone should have told these players before they've entered the league..

I think Girardi would be a good fit, low maintenance guy who still has some upside.

This is what I was implying. Wings have a very humble, team first oriented locker room. I feel like his personality would clash with leaders like Hank, and especially with Babcock. Yeah he can back up his attitude, so could Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Manny Ramirez and other world class athletes. Not saying he's even remotely close to the level of those guys, but teams shy away from those guys because they're a cancer to the locker room with their "me first" attitude. I'd rather get a player with slightly less talent that doesn't have such a big head.

Would anyone on here support me saying id be okay with bringing quincey back for less money?
He's really not that bad, he just needs a solid shutdown d man to cover his mistakes and to try to get him scoring.
Bi mean were not grtting our first rd pick back for him.
May as well bring him back on a short/cheap deal.

No thanks. He seems to bring out the worst in whoever he's paired with.

Bob, Vanek has and can score 40+ goals per year with a good C. h ha 2 seasons already with 40 or more goals. Both with the Sabres.

Last time he scored 40 goals was 6 years ago. Last time he scored MORE than 40 goals was 8 years ago. Old news. If we're gonna make a guy the highest paid player in the game he needs to be consistently within the top 3 in goals and or points. I don't think that Vanek could do that at all.

#2481699 Steven Stamkos will not play for Team Canada at the Sochi Olympics.

Posted by BadgerBob on 06 February 2014 - 12:29 PM

Right choice Stevo Neal is a punk and just benefiting like Kunitz from playing with the best player in the world.

Now the only remaining question is, will MSL accept or decline because of what happened 1 month ago.

St. Louis is one of the classiest players in the league. Even if he was a bit salty about it, no way would he decline. Also last chance to play for your country, I don't see him saying no.

I agree, Neal is a punk, but there is no denying his shot / release.  He benefits from playing with Malkin the same as Kunitz does playing with Crosby, but Neal has all-world skill in the shot department.

Yes, the reflexes in his knee are second to none, especially when someone's head is near by! :sigh:

Z has been godly all year when healthy. Imo he's basically been his playoff style self all year, he probably knows this team is a Zetterberg away from being out of the playoff picture.

Might be why his back hurts...

Eaves for all the reasons above. He's more fun to watch in my opinion. Plus Miller's trash talk is just awful.

#2481422 So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

Maybe?

If the Sabres are buying out Tyler Myers if I would be willing to take a chance at him if I were Holland.

I really like the idea of this. If they do, I'd hope they have him work with one of the defensive assistants, or even Chelios or Lidstrom so he can get his game on point. I think the pressure put on him to perform on a team that doesn't give him much help has kind of ruined his confidence. I don't think they'd buy him out and I'm sure they'd want something ridiculous for him though.

#2480648 Wings to inquire about Vanek?

Posted by BadgerBob on 03 February 2014 - 04:54 PM

Pass. I agree with what has been repeated in other threads. This guy intends on testing the FA market at the end of the season. No way would I give up any player that is important to our future (Gus, Tatar, Jurco, Mantha, Dekeyser, etc.) for some guy that's just going to bolt as soon as some morons throw a $8M/year contract at him.

#2480631 What's wrong with Pasha? (Mod warning post #57)

Posted by BadgerBob on 03 February 2014 - 03:51 PM

Kovalchuk retired from the Devils and left the money behind and in the process gave the Devils a big break financially. He didn't say he was too hurt to play for the Devils.

Kovalchuk definitely didn't leave any money behind. He's making more per season over there than he would over here without a doubt.

I agree with the original article,
http://thehockeywrit...h.MMLGdPY2.dpuf
I'd scratch Bombay for the speedy Premature Ejaculator.

"Stevie Weeks...The last addition to the Mystery, Alaska squad, Weeks was a teenager who skated the towns frozen river every morning. On a team full of speedsters, Weeks was clearly the fastest on the roster.

Weeks play was impressive enough for the Rangers to sign him to a minor-league contract."

Haha love the description of Weeks. But, I donno man. Weeks has Crosby face and can't take a hit. I'll take the Minnesota Miracle Man.

Forwards:

Bombay-Conway-Banks

Dorsey-Youngblood-Braden

Hanson-Hanson-Hanson

Portman-Racki-Ogilthorpe

Defense

Upton-Wanchuk

Marden-Biebe

Lussier-Tyler

Goalie

Lemieux

Heaver

The first line is relying on the chemistry of Gordon Bombay and Charlie Conway, along with Mystery, Alaska's Connor Banks's slapshot.  Doug Dorsey's injured eye heals well enough to play, and he's teamed with former junior phenom Dean Youngblood and Ned Braden, called up from the Chiefs.  The third line is made up of the Hansons, who aren't that great separate but are much better than the sum of its parts.  The fourth line of Dean Portman and towering Ogie ogilthorpe, centered by Youngblood's junior nemesis Carl Racki, give the team plenty of toughness.

On defense, former Chief's captain Johnny Upton and Mo Wanchuk join their teammates from the Chiefs.  Skank Marden and Jon Biebe from Mystery anchor the second pair.  On the third pairing, we add some tougness with Andre "Poodle" Lussier and a PP QB in Jesse Tyler (Mighty Ducks).

In net we have former Chief Denis Lemieux and Youngblood's former junior teammate Heaver.

The coaching staff is judge Walter Burns, assisted by Reg Dunlop and Youngblood's former coach Murray Chadwick.  Joe McGrath is the GM, finally given the chance to run a team not teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.

I'd take Fulton Reed over Jesse Tyler, he didn't even make the JV squad. Can't just have one bash brother, it doesn't work.

#2479151 Hypothetical: What Coach Would You Replace Babcock With?

Posted by BadgerBob on 31 January 2014 - 11:09 AM

Gordon Bombay no questions asked. He just has a way at helping players maximize their potential...

He's good, but I'd rather have Coach Reilly. Taught the Minnesota Miracle man everything he knows. He tells it like it is and teaches kids to go for the dubya. It aint worth winning if you can win big.

But seriously, I can't picture anyone I'd rather have behind the bench over Babs. Maybe stick Chelios back there as an assistant to help light a fire under some of these guys. Teach them how to play with a bit of an attitude, and maybe make him condition them.
