  1. Tough warmup for liles. I might have swapped him for Quincey, they'd both still get to play.

And Howard didn't play good today; Babcock said so himself. Have a little faith in something though. Playing him Wednesday in a premier game like this is the right choice, because he's the number 1 coming off an injury. If I would count on any goalie in the league to come out of a funk like this it'd be Howard, because he's shown such consistency.

Jesus, it's as if because you're on the internet it's accepted to act like a ten year old imbecile. It's a constant bitchfest on just about everyone's part, where people wake up each day and decide to express their daily whims(few of which hold any sense). The only thing that is a bigger mess than this team right now is this board. It sounds like a majority of you look at the previous page and see everyone bashing on a given subject so you do it too because it's the cool thing to do. What an impulsive bunch. Howard's not some second year tweener with no track record. He's 29 years old on his fifth season in the nhl. He's stood on his head and performed among the leagues top goalies year after year. Took the team team to the playoffs, on a major account of his consistent play. Way to not overreact everyone. But you're right, sit him for the season, and see if he can come back next year.
  5. It should be to win the cup since that is why Alfredsson signed here.

Bylsma and Poile: Coach;GM of Team USA

Bylsma is still a learning process.

What would you give up for Malkin?

-He's underrated defensively; he's always getting back in the play torwards his zone. -Any player of his caliber will fare well in "nail biting situations"; one instance where they got scored on does not prove your predisposition. -You can literally say that about any top tier player in the NHL; just look at this season. Even Crosby gets s*** for not showing up past the 2nd round. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Malkin was the one who single-handedly took them through the ECF, then won the Conn Smythe. Those are very vague assertions. I'd say his biggest issue is giving up the puck from trying to force plays in the O zone, and trying to be too creative. And a lot of the time he pulls it off. That and he's a hot head which leads to him taking some questionable penalties. But so does Crosby, and when he does: the guy has his back torwards him and it's behind the play. Maybe it's just a thing from that environment, because I could never really see Bylsma reprimanding Crosby or Malkin. He's a "players coach," running a contry club. I remember when they were down in that philly series?? and he was laughing on the bench with Crosby. I'm not saying the Wings need to get Malkin, but some of the things players are tagged with are so spurious and not fair. He's a good player. EDIT: I get the notion from fans that the only top tier good defensive forwards in the leauge are Z, Datsyuk, Toews, Bergeron, Kesler, Hossa, and maybe a few others; the rest are all liabilities.
  9. I don't know how anyone can say the wings were lucky to get to this point. They dictated play at times in this series, and this game, and they also had the play taken to them by the hawks (which was inevitable given the team chicago had). They had a great run, and I would even say they had a 50/50 shot of taking it in OT. Just not this time.

    97.1 The Ticket: Hocketown "Dead"?

Someone in their position is compelled to say some things that may seem a little over the top or drastic. And Mike probably isn't as much of an ass as he makes himself out to be on air. You're just hearing his on air 'radio persona' he speaks in so he hits you hard with what he says. Someone like him wakes up in the morning and says, "what can I say to really set these people off?" And he does it, whether it's infuriating or a big slapfest talking baseball. It's all about rhetoric and doing his best to draw your attention. If they just sat there, and went back and forth over how they think the wings are good in some parts but could do better here, trying their best not to tick anyone off in the process they wouldn't have a very good draw. And being a former Islanders fan, his interest in hockey did drop off quite a bit. I like Riger the best for hockey. It can be entertaining listening to him read all the texts regarding his nasally voice.
  11. I believe i heard Ken say they started on Wed. It was a few seconds after the buzzer, can anyone verify?

Any pickins from the Canucks carcass?

Gillis and the nuck's are hoping Kassian is going to be a force in a few years- ideally a top six forward, and they tried him a couple times this year with the Sedins. It was the year after their cup run when MG decided he needed his own version of Milan Lucic.
