Why the Red Wings get injured

16 December 2013 - 06:57 PM

Because they have no legitimate enforcer. Simply said. Yes, the red wings have very skilled players who have speed. But when teams like Ottawa and Boston are out there out hitting your players 2:1 or 3:1 ratio night after night, (and I don't mean small checks, I mean big massive hits), you cant expect them to last long. Perhaps Ken Holland needs to FINALLY invest in some muscle? I cant think of any out there obviously, and Tootoo wasn't much of a success unfortunately.. but it makes you think. How much longer do the players need to get pushed around till someone gets a head or back injury. O wait.. Zetterberg just had a herniated disk....... Datsyuk got concussion symptoms, oh and so did Franzen... There's a reason the Detroit Red Wings are injury prone folks. It's cuz other teams run around and hit em. If there were enforcers, teams would think twice before laying the hits on star players.

That's my 2 cents on the situation. Please share!

Zetterberg to captain the 2014 swedish olympic team?

Is this true? I found a Swedish article (translated to English) speculating he is. Not sure if there are any concrete English articles out there.

Zetterberg's Slap shot

11 May 2013 - 10:06 PM

Anyone notice how Z shot like a 50 goal scorer in last night's game 6 while almost every other game he just shoots the puck from random corners or ends up going for the pass.. I remember a few years ago, he was rated as having one of the best slap shots among active players game next to Chara, Ovetchkin, Weber. This was during his prime after they won the cup.

Why do you think that is? I mean, he clearly has the ability to shoot the puck with great aim and its a bullet of a shot, but almost 90% of the games now, the past 3 years, his shots have been really weak unless it's a key game.

Has anyone else noticed this? Might be confidence level or age?

Mike Babcock Line swapping.. Too much?

19 April 2013 - 10:47 PM

Seriously, the past three years and especially this year the line swapping have been at a maximum. I feel like there's no opportunity for any chemistry being built. Don't get me wrong , I like Babcock, but how are you supposed to let team chemistry build if you just keep swapping guys back and forth ? He started the year with Z, Dats and Brunner, it wasn't doing good for a few games and he completely gave up on it? I mean, at some point you've got to realize that there simply isn't enough offense available right?

In any case, does it logically make sense as a coach to swap lines so much? It takes time to built chemistry in a line.. You're at the end of the season and you haven't built any good chemistry at all.. Maybe he shouldn't have swapped around cuz it sure didn't make a difference at this point in the season.

What are you thoughts?
