Comparing players from different eras gets you as far as comparing Jordan to LeBron. It just doesn't work. IMO, Jordan > LeBron. I grew up watching Lidstrom so I'm partial to him. Was a very impactful night watching one of my favorite players get his jersey raised.
IMO it goes even further. Not only shouldn't we compare players from different ages, it's also very hard to compare different positions. Plus, the number of titles you win depends on the teams around you and the strength of the league at that time. Therefore I don't see any reasonable way to compare players from different ages/positions.
That could be expected, because he is good. He could be a great threat if we were healthy and could have someone like him on the 2nd or 3rd line, depending on the setup. The deal just looks weak because we gave up our #1 center prospect/ many other teams managed to get higher returns for less. But that's not Legwands fault. From all i've seen or read about him, you can expect that man to fight every minute he's on the ice. Don't think there will be much to criticize about him..
What a finish after that unlucky loss in Calgary..
Really proud of the guys. Z showing what leaders do when it matters most, Pavel the same, and Jimmy...season on the line and our "average" goalie comes up performing like he did the last games? Awesome. Seems that deal he just signed is absolutely fitting..
I remember Sami Salo saying in an interview that he wore a neck protector for a while but quit because he got tired of his teammates making fun of him. One would think that after what happened to Zednik the attitudes would've changed.
Maybe this has something to do with the body language of when you're facing someone with your nose up giving the impression that you're not afraid to the extent that you even keep your most vulnerable part visible and uncovered. This is just me thinking out loud because in reality I have no idea why hockey players talk about safety and wear some protection but at the same time aren't interested in wearing some very sginificant pieces of equipment. The idea of (male) players wearing full face masks would make most hockey fans laugh.
Really? It makes me more laugh to see players risk their health by not using all the available protection.
